Could Soarin be changed to UP

After seeing Up this afternoon, very good by the way, would it be possible that Disney changes Soarin to UP. I think there is potential there and to make it a 4D ride. :D

I am sure it COULD be, but I would rather it NOT be.

Now I have not seen UP yet. My kids (7 and 10) gave it a stellar "Eh, it was OK" rating :) However that is not the reason for my "no" vore.

My reason is, every attraction does not need a movie tie-in. I don't know when that became the thing to do, but so much now seems to place adherance to the plot of the movie first, and the actual attraction second.

I would have to vote no, leave Soarin' for what it is.

The only thing I'd want to see for Soarin' is a Soarin' over Florida or the US or the World, something like that. I could see Up put in the parks other ways.

After seeing Up, I'd much rather see a custom built Up dark ride rather than a replacement for Soarin'. I do agree that I'd like to see a different version of Soarin' for Florida though...

I have not seen UP yet but will soon. I have to say I would hate for them to change Soarin to Up, it works the way it is. The one thing I would love to see is a new film every few years on Soarin.

I would agree with this. I really like the current Soarin' but it would be even better to have a Florida or World version in WDW.

I specifically came on this site just now to say that a Soarin' type attraction would be perfect for UP.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

That being said, Soarin' is fine the way it is...but over at Pixar Place, a Soarin' type attraction using Up as the theme would be incredible. Maybe add a little "spice" to it with an air-battle between your "house" and the zepplin and the dog pilots.

I, for one, thought that Up was a fantastic movie. My new Pixar list goes like this.

Wall*E
Finding Nemo
Up!
Cars
Toy Story 2
Ratatoiulle
Monsters, Inc.
A Bug's Life
Toy Story
The Incredibles

Could it? Sure.

Should it? No.

If anything they should build a Soarin style attraction at DHS that they could periodically modify to fit whatever Pixar movie was current. The film for the attraction could be done at the same time movie is being done and as long as the motions were kept identical they could do a simultaneous movie and attraction launch.

Interesting idea, and perfect for Pixar Place, but how many Pixar movies deal with flying?:lookaroun

They don't necessarily need to deal with flying to be adapted to a flying ride. Soarin is more about the landscapes than flying. Flying is merely a great way to experience them. You could just as easily do a flying tour of Radiator Springs, or the earth in Wall-E's time, or even riding on a bug through Bug's life.

The beauty of Soarin' is the scenery (REAL scenery). While I am sure Disney could do a great attraction using CGI and the Soarin' ride mechanics, I can't imagine Soarin' being replaced with it. I LOVE the river/kayaking scene... could watch that kind of scene for 20 minutes all by itself...

Besides, as others have mentioned, "UP" doesn't seem to fit with a "Land" theme. I DO think it would be great in Pixar place, but how many different times do you implement the same ride system? (of course, roller coasters don't seem to fall into that problem, so maybe it's NOT a problem...)

Quite a bit actually...Splash Mountain, JC, PotC, IASW all the same essentially ride system. Same with Snow White and Pooh as well as Buzz, Nemo and HM.

Quite honestly I would love to see the Soarin ride system in every park. IMHO it is one step above the omnimover in that nearly anyone can ride it.

Soarin' is fine just the way it is. It doesn't need UP and it doesn't need a Florida film. Half the people at Epcot on any given day have already gone Soarin' Over Florida, flying into Orlando International to come visit Walt Disney World.

If it were ever changed, Soarin' Over the United States or Soarin' Over the World would be much more Epcotty.

I have not seen UP yet, was going to take DD over weekend, but she wanted to see another movie.

But I love Soarin the way it is, changing it to the have the movie theme seems like it would get old. I also agree w/ more of Fl & World fly overs.
