Could Soarin be changed to UP

I DO think it would be great in Pixar place, but how many different times do you implement the same ride system? (of course, roller coasters don't seem to fall into that problem, so maybe it's NOT a problem...)

Heh, Astro Orbiter, Aladdin's Flying Carpets, Triceratops Spin

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Look at it this way, Soarin' fills every seat every time. The line and FastPass distribution are the most crowded at Epcot. In Disney's mind, this ride is operating perfectly. Why spend money changing the most popular ride (especially ruining it with Up! I love Up! but it doesn't belong in Soarin)?
If it's ain't broke, don't fix it.

^ It wasn't when it was EPCOT Center. EPCOT Center is currently dead, but on the rebound. Still TLS was helped imensely by the Nemo characters.

But still Up doesn't fit the Land's overall theme, so I wouldn't want to see it happen. And I'm sure they won't use Up in new attractions, just like they haven't used WALL-E or The Incredibles, as WDI and Disney seem to focus on Pixar's least impressive films for attractions.

I don't know if I would say it was helped by the Nemo characters, as much as it was helped by a new attraction and a semi-sprucing up.

There is so much that could be done with Living Seas that does not require a cartoony tie-in

I agree things could have been done with out characters, but to say the Pavilion was ruined by the addition of characters is completely false, IMO. It was the weakest of the original Center pavilions, and I love everything that they've done with it.

I am sure it COULD be, but I would rather it NOT be.

Now I have not seen UP yet. My kids (7 and 10) gave it a stellar "Eh, it was OK" rating :) However that is not the reason for my "no" vore.

My reason is, every attraction does not need a movie tie-in. I don't know when that became the thing to do, but so much now seems to place adherance to the plot of the movie first, and the actual attraction second.

I would have to vote no, leave Soarin' for what it is.

Eisner. Thought it would be great to cross promote new theater releases/attractions/merchandise/and home video releases.

whoops.

They don't necessarily need to deal with flying to be adapted to a flying ride. Soarin is more about the landscapes than flying. Flying is merely a great way to experience them. You could just as easily do a flying tour of Radiator Springs, or the earth in Wall-E's time, or even riding on a bug through Bug's life.

Ah, got it.:D Smart idea...

LOL. Yeah. Those are exactly the rides to use to make an argument AGAINST using a rude system over and over. (add Dumbo)

MasterYoda pointed out rides for which the systems are similar... I'm not sure sure if that compares so easily... ("Quite a bit actually...Splash Mountain, JC, PotC, IASW all the same essentially ride system. Same with Snow White and Pooh as well as Buzz, Nemo and HM.")

The systems for those rides are so versatile that I'm not sure what to say about it... I mean, sure, SM and PotC are practically the same boats (I guess--no technical detail to go by), BUT the system itself allows for such flexibility that you don't say (at least I don't) "hey, this pirate ride is basically a warmed-over version of the Splash ride". On the other hand, you DO say that about Dumbo, Aladdin, Triceratops--because that "system" is inflexible. I may not have the imagination of an imagineer, but I'd say that the Soarin' system flexibility pretty ranks closer to the Dumbo than to the Splash Mt. system.

By "flexibilty", I am trying to say the ride, what the ride does, the way you make the ride and the ride vehicle look--the whole package.

Still, in saying this, I am not saying that a Soarin'-style DHS ride that might change more often to tie-in with movies would be a bad thing... imagine a Soarin' style Bug's Life flight in 3D (or UP-themed, or Toy Story 3-themed, or Cars-themed). How cool would something like that be? Since "Pixar Place" seems to be made to look like the Emeryville HQ, they could theme is so that you are being treated to a tour of the studios that will culminate in a sneak preview of their newest work-in-progress, or something like that...

Up could fit the land theme. Saving Kevin......Paradise falls........urban sprawl....... Just my oppinion. I think Disney should take the 4D experience and making something with it cutting edge again, and make it something to rivial Spiderman at IOA. The ohh and awww factor of the late 80's early 90's is gone. Do you know what I mean?:goodnevil

PotC, IASW, and Splash I'll give ya. But JC is self propelled gas boats that do not have track edges on the sides of the boats. I wouldn't really call it the same at all.
