Construction bids going out for TLM attraction?

Yeah, as the father of a 6 y/o girl, trust me, Ariel and TLM is still big. Do not forget the lure of the princesses. I'm not sure how Disney does it. My daughter was obsessed with them before she ever saw any of the movies. And out of the princesses, IMHO, maybe only Cinderella outranks Ariel in popularity.

Maybe with the unexpectedly high easter crowds, low interest rates and cheap construction costs we could be hearing an announcement sooner then later:sohappy:

I guess I for one am one of the few who thinks that Finding Nemo is an extremely overrated film. I can't say I disliked it, but I like most of the other Pixar films better. I'd say it was better that Cars and A Bug's Life, but that's about it.

As far as the Little Mermaid Dark Ride, I think it will happen. More than likely it will be built behind the Pooh Playground, where 20k use to be. I looked at one of the concept arts for the DCA version and it looks pretty impressive. It would especially make sense to have this built in time for MK's anniversary.

I really hope that TLM attraction is announced. It's one of the more current Disney movies they seem to advertise. What with the re-release of the movie a few years ago, the III movie release a few months back, the opening of the Broadway show and the consistent times it appeared in the recent Disney On Ice shows. It seems like a perfect time to boost its popularity with an attraction.

I love Nemo but I don't think I could take another Nemo attraction at WDW. TLM is a much better choice.
As for the subs at DL being popular...don't forget that 20K always had a crazy long line (because of the previously mentioned low ride capacity) and the reason the line for the musical is always so long is because you're just seeing the theatre capacity in one long line rather than in the theatre. I've seen far worse "lines" at FotLK.
If TLM wasn't still popular they wouldn't have bothered spending millions on the Broadway show. There are far easier Disney films to create a stage version of.
Fantasyland needs something new so if/when it comes to MK I'll be really looking forward to it.

The Little Mermiad was the most requested Disney DVD before it's 2006 Platinum re-release (and after Cinderella's 2005 DVD outing).

The movie is still very much loved, has a Broadway show and still makes lots on merchandise. Lines for the Mermaid show at DHS are still long, and yet another DTV was released last year based on it.

Anyone who doesn't think it's still popular is smoking some serious pot.
Then i guess i'll pass you the bag??

that aside, i didn't know it garnshed that much popularity to be honest. And do you know how many it sold on the re release? And it has a broadway show?? really?
That's not really a very logical basis, though, is it? I mean by your rationale shouldn't Peter Pan's Flight be incredibly unpopular because the movie is 56 years old?
I just saw peter pan the other day, its not 56 years old (or else robin williams is REALLY old). if they had made a live action version of the little mermaid 10 years ago i would understand, but going back to what i said before, how many people still love steamboat willy? I mean i know i love him, and i would go on a ride with him in it (n enjoyed that level on kingdom hearts II), but just b/c i like it doesnt mean it has mass appeal

Tru tru, your right, idk how disney does it either, how they could keep popular a character so old (even before many people were born). I mean the little mermaid came out when i was 2/3 and i dont know if ive even seen it, so as for children in this generation connecting with her, i guess i just didnt see that. I was thinking there was more HSM, hanna montana, allure

Two things:

1.) I have heard nothing to lead me to believe this is remotely accurate (but I would love to be wrong); and

2.) TLM is hugely popular and certainly FITS in Fantasyland very well. A classic is a classic ... a quality attraction will always pull guests in. Doesn't matter whether it is based on a film that came out in 1950, 1963, 1989, 1999, 2009 or based on no film at all.

~Not that that would ever happen!`

I don't know if this has been mentioned in someones earlier post, but after seeing those images I really hope they plan on designing a new ride vehicle since this one resembles the "Clamobiles" at the Seas w/Nemo exactly.

I really don't see a better option for vehicle themeing though. It looks like from the design that the vehicles are basically going to be the same as those used in The Haunted Mansion, meaning I really don't see a better design choice than a clam.

If you saw Robin Williams as Peter Pan, you saw the movie "Hook", made in 1991. But you don't really think that's what the Disney ride is based on, do you? Disney's Peter Pan animated movie was indeed 56 years ago.
