I just wonder what they could change it to. Discoveryland? Sci-Fi Land?, or maybe something without "land" attached in the manner of "Main Street" or "Liberty Square".

Sci Fi Central? Sci Fi Square? Sci Fi Circle? Sci Fi Cubicle? Sci Fi Orb? Sci Fi Stuff Place? Sci Fi Street?

OK, I give up, but they really should change the name! :lookaroun

Yes if it was really Tomorrowland they just focus on tomorrow.

The Stitch thing, Tomorrowland raceway, laugh floor, Carasole of Progress would all need to go.

You know who could build an excellent Tomorrowland if they did not only build rollercoasters is Paramount.

Think of it Tomorrowland base on the Federation 24th century.

The idea that Disney should just give up on the concept of T-Land because it is too hard to keep up or the like is really a crock for laziness and lack of creativity.

I have no problem with Disney going the Discoveryland route in Paris ... it made sense (more so before Buzz Lightyear took over Timekeeper and when Dis...I mean Space Mountain was still From the Earth to the Moon). Tim Delaney just did an incredible job.

I wouldn't even have a problem if they had followed through with the original plans for MK in the 90s instead of the half-a$$ed version they did, which has been totally destroyed by toons IF they had kept EPCOT's FW true to its vision and didn't water it down with thrill rides and cartoon fish.

It's just lazy to say 'no one has a vision for the future that's positive' so let's do Verne-esque or sci-fi.

especially since so many T-Land are now so muddled (like both USA versions) ... it speaks volumes that HKDL's Tomorrowland has more of a cohesive sci-fi/Jetsons feel.

As to Eddie's Sci-Fi concept for TDL, boy do I wish that got built. What a kewl concept.
Of course, I wish Imagineers like Eddie still worked for the company. They had vision beyond let's get Stitch and Buzz and Mike Wazowski into a land about the future.

Nah, I much prefer tomorrowland. Like someone else said, its already a well known Disney land name. Besides, referring to the future as "tomorrow" is a rather old term used mostly in the 50s which kind of helps with the future that never was feel.

While I agree that Stitch and Laugh Floor need to go, I think the speedway should stay (although rethemed to "Cosmic Freeway" with electric cars and futuristic scenery) and I strongly feel that CoP should stay. After all, thes song is called Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow right? Besides, I think they could ad more themeing to make it apart of the "Tomorrowland Metro Retro Historical Society" thus giving it a place in the land.

I`ve said it before.... we had an almost perfect Tomorrowland in 1995. So sad.

Yeah. That's back when they still cared about MK and it showed ... but what really killed the full '95 makeover was Eisner getting gunshy about spending after Euro Disney opened.

I also have heard that many of the ideas for MK, since they came from Team Baxter, were immediately axed because ME tried to scapegoat Baxter for Euro Disney's financial woes.

Anyway, gotta head off to a Super Bowl shindig ... look forward to numerous pages to read when I return!

Wow... it looks like they just took the arm from SGE and put a spitting Stitch off to the side. That's actually pretty funny... but not for SM.

New coaster isn't the difference in ride... New wheels [or properly fitted wheels] are what makes the difference. The older coasters can be as smooth as silk with tight new wheels.

Sorry, I actually meant to refer to new trains/wheels, not the coaster itself.

Yep.
Fallout from Euro laid waste to many a good Tomorrowland concept.
2055, Sci-Fi City, MK's New Tomorrowland, DL's Tomorrowland 98....
All were killed or cut back after the financial mess of Euro came started to hit Burbank.

Oh ... Lee, thanks for those pics ... I had never actually seen concept art of that VERY scary idea.
I got two more.
Don't eat before viewing any of these....
