Ummm...have you seen videos of the ORIGINAL JII with Dreamfinder? Because version 2 was completely different. Different story, different characters, different ride. Figment really wasn't even in it.
yes i saw it from 1984 and no i dont concider it an overhaul, i look at it as a referb. And I saw figment, he was a part of the attraction and the old man was different then the professor but stil i can see where JIYI came from.

I dont know why soemone doesnt just start a worst referb ride, that'll be a lot easier. There's already 3, JII, EEA, Tiki room, SSE, etc

oh crap i forgot mexico from what it was to what it is, imo it was a plus (even though it doesnt really tel the story of mexico)

for me it was the Haunted Mansion referb. Don't get me wrong I love the new HM but I miss the Musty, moldy smell that it had. I know why it had the smell and it was something that needed fixing but I wish they could recreate the smell. I thought that it added to the feel of the whole ride.

How can you dislike a refurb that made HM the best ride on property?!

Positive change:

Food Rocks -------> Soarin
(This one is easy)
World of Motion -------> Test Track (Although I was quite fond of WoM)
Tarzan -------> Finding Nemo the Musical

Neutral:
Horizons -------> Mission Space (This one is VERY tough...M:S is a great attraction, but Horizons was a hands-down classic. It would be an upgrade if it was almost any other attraction.)
Universe of Energy -------> Ellen's Energy Adventure (I really like both versions)
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride -------> Pooh (See Horizons / M:S)

Negative:
Alien Encounter -------> Stitch's Great Escape (Easily the biggest downgrade of them all. A great attraction absolutely ruined.)
The Living Seas -------> Nemo and Friends (#2 biggest downgrade on the list. "Hey, let's rip out the most unique parts of the attraction and shove some Disney characters in there just because!" Seabase looks like Stanley Kubrik's set designers threw up inside.)
Timekeeper -------> Monster's Inc Laugh Floor (I wasn't all that high on Timekeeper, but MILF seems like a poorly executed excuse to cram LCI into an attraction)
WWtbaM -------> American Idol Experience (Millionaire was ok, AIE is an interesting concept but based on a dimming licensee. Bring back Superstar Television...)

Some other negatives that come to mind:
20,000 Leagues ---> Pooh's Playful Spot (Great Attraction + Concrete - Submarines = FAIL)
Journey Into Imagination ---> Journey Into a Poor Excuse For Your Imagination
Listen to the Land ---> Living With The Land (Now with robo-spiel goodness. They keep finding new ways to strip the life out of this one.)
Rio Del Tiempo ---> Three Caballeros (Turned out to be another "Let's cram some characters in an attraction just because" rehab.)
Wonders of Life ---> Nothing (This one is just sad.)
Original Backlot Tour --> Current Backlot Tour (It's a shadow of what it once was, as is this whole park. Add on the new robo-spiel for even more life-killing effect)
Chinese Theater ---> Big Freakin' Hat (Really? That's all you could come up with? Really?)
Pleasure Island ---> "Pleasure Island" (If DHS is a shadow, PI is a ghost.)

After reviewing your comments, I find it really hard to find something to disagree with you about.
I could not believe it when I took the Rio DelTiempo ride - I enjoyed the hawkers in the market, the Aztec entrance and the final carnival scene. Now I have three characters, who I do like very much, fixing (in a negative sense) something that really did not need fixing - just a minor upgrade to give more information about Mexico.
The Backlot tour is now a joke and should be closed -- take me to catastrophe canyon and just call it a ride to catastrophe canyon.
Change for the sake of change tends to show it. Walt must be rolling over in his grave.......

God bless the "Ignore" button.
The list doesn't have JII > JIYI, so I'll go with AE > SGE.
I don't DISLIKE SGE. I've gone on the ride both times that I've been there since it converted. It's just that AE was the single darkest ride on Disney property, and instead of that being a good thing, STUPID PARENTS would take their kids on it and they got it shut down.

That's right, if you took your kid on it not knowing what it was and they cried and caused a scene I BLAME YOU!!!

I can honestly say that for the most part I disagree with nearly everyone :)

I mean I would agree that Stitch for AE is the worst on the list, but even that one I am not kicking myself over. AE, in my opinion, was out of place in Magic Kingdom and the number of complaints that attraction had cripples the amount of complaints people have over Stitch (trust me).

Obviously the Soarin' and Test Track changes were upgrades, most agree with that ... M:S for Horizons? I am not nor was I a Horizons fan, so maybe that's where the indifference lies.

The Nemo overlay in The Living Seas and the Mexico Pavillion overlay are the ones that make me chuckle ... The Living Seas was lamented for years for being "Disney's 'hasty pavillion response' to Sea World" and here they put effort into it and people still complain ... Mexico sees so much more foot traffic, but they somehow 'sold out.' But in comparison to the original plans for EPCOT, wasn't EPCOT '82 even a sell out :lookaroun?

And finally (to wrap up this entirely unnecessary rant), while I would be happy, thrilled even, to see that 20k spot being filled, I do not miss 20k, found it to be incredibly lame, even for its time, and no upgrade in the world could have justified such prime MK space. Now, I agree it's obviously a downgrade due to the "nothingness" that resides there now, but still, not a travesty.

So I guess I am one of the very few lucky ones who didn't have much of a connection with any attraction that has ever been replaced

What about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea--------> Pooh's Playful Spot
oh yes i have to agree. that pooh spot is nice for families but isn't fantasyland already crowded enough? they could have put something like that somewhere else right? they already have ariels grotto next door! and toontown. what about all that empty space next to SM thats nothing but an area for lovers to hide out? :lookaroun:Dwhat can we put there?:veryconfu

I just watched the original JII on youyube and I remember it vaguely only because of the 2 floors of fun afterward and that has to be 15 years ago or around that time. Ijust knowthat when I went about 5 years later or so, there wasonly one floor. the ride seems to be sooooooo long was it longer then the one now? if so , did they use the space for HISTA? and make the mew figment ride shorter? and why did they do that? Ill never understand their logic sometimes. they need Spock to help them out with their logic.:D

The current Journey uses the same ride space, but uses much less of the track than the original.

The Magic Eye theater was never used for the ride, but the proposed new version is rumored to use the theater for ride space.

why wouldnt they just use the same amount of track and make the ride longer? because they wanted us the keep having stops along the way?:veryconfu

Good for them bad for us who pay the money for a fun attraction. everytime i go there i can walk on that ride, always, does disney ever pick up on things like that? i always had a line for 20,000 even when it was close to closing but they closed it anyway.:cry::cry:

Same reason i didn't put JII ->JIYI. I was thinking i shouldnt have put up EEA either, but upon second though JII and JIYI has the same two main characters, it just doesnt use the whole track, it was a referb. EEA is a completly different story with different characters (although using dinosaurs still lends credence to the whole referb thing)
But JII was completely changed. When the changed UOE to EEA all they really did was replace the movies, get rid of the radok screens, change the gold curtains, get rid of the mirrors and maps, and add an Ellen AA. But JIYI took everything from JII out. Not one part looked the same. And Figment was barely in it, and not the star at all. JIYI started in the middle of the opening where Dreamfinder introduces himself and creates Figment. That was replaced by a scene where you look at mirrors and Dr. Channing tells you that you have no imagination. JII then went to the dreamport where the room was filled with things like fog lights, hands clapping, and static electicity. That was replaced by darkness where we listen to a train effect. Then JII went into the white painting room with Dreamfinder painting and were surrounded with white flowers and an oragami carrousel. That was replaced by a magnifine glass "magnifying" (or is it your imagination?) An appearing butterfly and a fish out of water. Then JII went into the literature room where dreamfinder plays an organ with letters coming out of it, and there are different words surrounding us. That was replaced by a screen changing colors as we heard noises. Then JII continued into scary books which became a constelation room where we see stars form shapes. Then JII went to the acting room where figment and dreamfinder sing about acting and there are different posters and then dremfinder conducts and orchestra pof electricity. That was replaced by and upside down house. Then JII went into the science room where dreamfinder is in the center with different screens of molecules on the other side. This became the finale where our imaginations are measured again and then Dr Channing shows us what our imaginations have created and we get to see a little of Figment. JII then went to a room with Figment and Dreamfinder talking about how using imagination can help the world, then we enter a room with Figment in the center and a bunch of figments on a screen above. Then Dreamfinder takes our picture and encourages us to visit theImageworks upstairs. All of those scenes are where the current Imageworks resides. I really dont see how you can say that this wasnt an overhaul.
