Big changes for the McDonald's near All Stars

Eating out in general is not healthy, but most people get some enjoyment out of going out to eat, despite the fact that the food is high in fat and calories. Not everyone chooses to eat apples and bananas for their entire lives (and certainly not when on vacation). I realize eating at On the Border once a month is probably shortening my life by a few minutes, but I also go to the gym 5 times a week and there is something to be said for quality of life. If I could live to be 105 on apples and bananas or live to be 95 eating out once a week and going to the gym 5x/week, I'd choose the later.

It is sickening that baby back ribs with a side salad and a baked potato from Outback clocks in at 3500 calories, but it also tastes better than an apple or a banana...

if you go to the gym 5x a week you should be burning all those bad calories anyway so as you dont eat out constantly it should balance out right? Eating junk food occasionaly cannot be as damaging to your body as say smoking cigerettes adn drinking alchole.

What a shame...it was a really cool building. We all loved it. :(
The fun look fit in with the AS themes. It looks like it should be near the Contemporary.

The change to the building is because it will no longer be a McDs. Disney and McD no longer have a contract and Disney is taking over the building. It will be a Disney Fast Food joint serving similar fare as currently. (This is why the McD fry places in the parks are all getting a face-lift.)

Well, nice try, except the concept art clearly shows McDonald's in huge letters and a big set of golden arches. And I'm sure Disney would be bragging about their new upcoming fast food joint if that were the case.

We ate there the last time I stayed at all stars. Sometimes you just want something quick and cheap. Its good for that.

My only complaint was that it's the freaking south. Offer tea in your restaurant. I can't drink soft drinks because of a stomach issue, I couldn't believe that somewhere in the south didn't offer sweet or unsweet tea.

I went there and I live in georgia.I ordered sweet tea and the didn't have any so i just asked for water.Im so used to drinking sweet tea.In georgia they have mcdonald's on every corner that serves great tea.The only thing I get when I go to mcdonald's is sweet tea.My mom dosen't let me eat anything else, because I have to eat everything organic!

Maybe its just a nation wide thing? They are re doing all the McD's around me. Maybe thats why the price jump on the double cheeseburgers? I heard they made a pretty penny by raising it up 50 cents.

A few years back, in the PLAYBILL magazine, they have a section where Broadway stars suggest a NYC restaurant. And one of them suggested the Applebees. According to the write-up, because of its attachment to the Winter Garden Theatre, the cast of Mamma Mia has to walk through the restaurant to get to and from work. I asked my friend who does costuming for Mamma Mia and she had no idea what they were talking about. But it made us all laugh that thats what some Broadway star thought of good New York City cuisine.
Mark Thompson did both the sets & Costumes. kinda ironic since John Napier did both for the WG's previous tenant

My friend actually still works at Mamma Mia which is amazing. But she used to work in costuming at many of the Broadway shows until she got hired full time for Mamma Mia. The only Disney show she did was Aida.

Oh no. This is terrible news! That's the McD's everyone, old or young, points out because of the fact that it's so different in appearance from the other McD's. I'll be driving by it later this week & it'll be strange not to see the oversized characters hanging off the top of the place. :(

I thought the McDonald's was an eyesore ... although no more so then the All Stars.

It looks like they are making it very nice (I have never set foot in it), likely adding the McCafe's that are going in most Florida locales this year. One of the three in my town just reopened and the other two are scheduled for the changeover later.

Someone asked why anyone would eat at McDonald's at WDW or anywhere else, and it's very simple.

Sometimes when traveling people like something familiar. And while it's en vogue in the 21st century to blast McD's as junk food that will kill you, they once stood for quality food served quickly by friendly people in a clean unit for an inexpensive price. I am older than many here, so I can recall those days from my childhood/young adulthood.

I can say that McD's is a prestige brand overseas where the quality just blows away any in the USA ... and in the past year I've dined at McD's in Beijing, Kowloon, Hong Kong and Waterford, Ireland ... in past years everywhere from Paris to Milan, Montreal to London and every McD's has been worlds better than what we get in the US.

(You could almost compare McD's to Disney theme parks in this aspect, I guess).

I have had McD's at WDW many times when I wanted something quick and cheap. But I won't spend a premium to dine at one of the on property locations ... the one on 192 west is closer to DAK than the All Star on property one is for example.

~Hey, 'dem hamburgers is 49 cents today!~

Why would anyone eat at McD's at WDW? Well, why do you think its near the values? A family of 4 can leave a park and get a quick dinner for less than $20 rather than getting the same cheesburger type ensemble at one of the parks for TWICE that amount. That is simple logic there.

And somebody said they can only eat organic so they cannot get anything there? :ROFLOL: I could go so off topic with that one that I don't even know where to begin.

They didn't use any chemicals to raise these vegatables...yet I have no idea if the soil they grew it was ever tested for radium, cesium, mercury, or anything else! Or if the farm is near a highway that is just covered by chemical laden exhaust fumes that leech into the soil and then into the food.

But I sure am glad they put a label on it saying they didn't use any pesticides or steriods when they grew it! :ROFLOL:

I want real quality coffee ... Starbucks would suffice.

The only really good coffee at WDW is the pressed pots at Kona Cafe at Poly and Jiko and Boma at DAK Lodge.

~Three shots please~

I liked it the way it was. Although the last time we were there, it was clear it could've used a good power wash.

YES! thats exactly what we thought when we went. we could see this Mickey D's from the high way and every year since my sister was 4 she had wanted to go there. so Finally we did. and it wasn't that clean. the workers were pretty slow to(and there were only like 5 costumers in there) anyways my sister will be heart broken when she see's the new "modern" look.
