American Idol: Season 7!!

I agree, his whole nonchalant attitude drives me nuts. It's like he either doesn't care, or he doesn't get that people who win this show actually make a few $$. Apparently he's not impressed

People get so frustrated about his "Who cares," attitude, and I have to say that I don't blame him. With the insane amount of professional experience that filled the cast this season (Archuleta won Star Search for cryin' outloud, and it was a phone-in Idol-clone in 2003!), it's an absolute joke. The producers limit song choices, the judges play favorites, and Jason just seems like he enjoys music and doesn't care about the politics. Castro is possibly the most realistic contestant since season 1 and I would love (love love love love love) to see him win it just to watch Simon's head explode.

Well, let's just hope that Vote For the Worst doesn't have an effect on that. :fork: He was awful tonight and deserves to go.

There's probably only a 1% chance he'll stay this week. There are simply too few contestants left for votefortheworst.com or the teeny boppers to have any sort of effect now. And I think the teeny boppers that are fans of David A and David C outnumber Castro 100 to 1.

Castro is possibly the most realistic contestant since season 1 and I would love (love love love love love) to see him win it just to watch Simon's head explode.

Realistic? He's clearly stoned every time he appears on the show. And no, he won't win it.

Yes, realistic.

I would much rather have a stoned guitar player than a lying Irish-woman. Some of the greatest performers of all time benefited from being in an altered-state.

Marley, Denver, Mercury, Tyler, Jagger, Morison, Cobain, Dogg... need I continue or are they too long before your time?

(And FYI, thanks for stating the obvious about Castro not winning. I wasn't made aware that you are still the only person on this site who knows anything. )

I see what you're saying. I felt like Brooke was realistic, and frankly wouldn't have been able to handle the demands if she'd won, but that's just me. I do get that the deck is stacked against Castro as far as experience, but he still has the ability to choose songs that will flatter him (and there were a lot to pick from this week) and present himself in a better way while on camera. That part is up to him.

Are these kids ever going to get to sing a song that isn't 40 years old and been covered 60,000 times? I love the classics, but I like to hear newer music, too.

I'm thinking the producers want a David vs. David finale. The judges were merciless with Jason, and his second song wasn't that bad. It was more interesting than David A's final song. Next week, look for the judges to pounce on any perceived mistake by Syesha.

I actually caught his performances tonight, and I liked them both. They weren't "great," but honestly nothing on Idol is the "great" the judges make it to be. He reminds me of Dylan, and I think he has a great future ahead of him. No, it won't be the pop that Fremantle and 19 consider music, but folkish music that has a devoted following. He is a good singer and performer, but not main-stream (which is what the general population expects).

Ah...the second song was better than the first...I will admit. However, what I believe sealed the deal of his (probable) departure was that he did forget the words. He covered it better than the other performers this year, but they were forgotten. Couple that with the hideous performance he gave of Bob Marley's song and it equals, bye bye Jason. (Or it should equal that anyway.)

Castro looks, acts, and sounds like he doesn't even want to be on the show. Perhaps America will oblige tonight.

My whole impression of him is a Coaster. You know, just sort of drifting through life stress-free, never really putting too much thought or effort into anything... come on, we all know someone like that

Yes, it was. Not only did he mumble his way through a couple of lines early on, he forgot the words a number of times further into the song but substituted random words instead of mumbling... Good cover for his mistakes, but horrid song as a result. If it were a song that didn't have specific words associated with it, he 'sang' it well, but that's not enough to call it a good performance.

Agreed--way too many "professional" ties with these contestants. And, some newer music would be nice.

well going home this week is either syesha or castro. i personally hope castro leaves, because Syesha has definitely deserved a spot in the final three based on her past few weeks' performances.
