American Idol: Season 7!!

As did I. The first night she was on, I picked her. It's in one of the AI threads here.

Bottom three: Brooke, Carly, Jason.

Going home: Jason.

Maybe America will have sympathy for Brooke. One thing I was told by a professor in college: NEVER stop in a performance. Never. Keep your rhythm going and it will come back. It works. I was shocked to see her stop like she did.

She did it a few weeks ago too, and I believe Randy said that he liked the way she restarted the song. I couldn't believe it.

You don't get a "start over" in a live concert or on broadway. I think Paula actually hit the nail on the head last night with what she said to Brooke. You just don't do that at this level.

As far as David Cook goes. I REALLY didn't want to like him. I wasn't a fan in the beginning, not becuase of his voice and talent (I can admit, I noticed that right away) but because of his arrogance. But... there's no denying he's really good--especially after tonight. Being very familiar with the song, I knew that one high note was coming and I was preparing to wince, though he did great!

I agree....I was shocked that Randy and Simon were not as hard on Brooke about this.
I find it odd because in the past they have given other contestants such a hard time about forgetting lyrics, even when the contestant covers it up well.
IMO, stopping and starting over is MUCH worse than just missing the lyrics and continuing on.

I think the problem and why Brooke started and stopped again was b/c she couldn't remember the rest...meaning she couldn't remember where to even go from there. My guess is it would have taken her a while to remember he lyrics at that point b/c they simply weren't there.

So, by her starting and stopping, it gave her 1. a second to recompose and 2. a second to think of what the rest of the song was. Starting and stopping, while bad, I'll admit, for her though, was probably a better choice b/c she would have probably looked worse if she'd let the music continue until she found a point to continue with.

I still agree with Paula. A professional performer would make it work and keep going. Brooke didn't seem lost at all with the lyrics at the beginning, it really seemed like it was more her nerves getting the best of her. She was so unsure of herself it was very uncomfortable.
Either way, someone at this level shouldn't have made that mistake. While Brooke sure is adorable and sweet, I think it may be her time to go.

I just hope Andrew Lloyd Webber isn't going to sing anything in the elimination show tonight. Now if Sarah Brightman or Glenn Close or Patti Lupone or Betty Buckley or Michael Crawford shows up to sing one of his songs, that would be great!!!!

Paula Abdul said on the radio this morning that ALW would be performing, but she didn't know what. I just keep thinking- that can't be right

Up to the final twelve I really didn't like him. He was arrogant and not with any cause, his singing simply wasn't good. Then, after I'd picked him as first to go, he started to really blossom and IMO has become consistently better and better week after week. Now I'm hoping he wins!

David A on the other hand I've never seen any quality in.

I think David A has the voice of an angel, but no personality or stage presence at all. But that hasn't hurt Josh Groban. David A may not win, but he will have a successful career.

Cook definitely was the most memorable performance of the night. Maybe because it was the only song I had ever heard before (more on that later), but I really think he nailed it. The only time I had ever heard the song before was a special performance on David Letterman, which is certainly my favorite version of the song. If you haven't had the chance to savor this pitch perfect rendition yet let me give you a link:
