Hey AI fans I thought I'd share something with you. This week I ran into someone who lives in my neighborhood, and apparently her whole family just returned on Sunday from Hollywood - they won the Ford family contest of the week and got to meet all of the Idols! They got to watch the performance on Tuesday and also the taping of the Ford video. This was their opinion of meeting them personally.
David Cook - genuinely very nice and down to earth. Was chatting about his family in Indiana and going home there for Easter.
David Archuleta - he was kind of by himself the whole time, and didn't seem to know what to do with himself. Seemed a little uncomfortable with the attention he is getting. The wife of a Ford exec dialed her niece on her cell and shoved it in his hand and said "here talk to her she's a big fan". He was just like, "um, hi?" He talked about how difficult it is, being the only one who still has to study for school, and that keeps him separated from the group somewhat. Poor little guy.
Brooke - was very genuinely nice, hugged the 2 daughters for pictures, and was just as sticky sweet as pie.
Carly - she was nice, but not perhaps as sweet as she seems in the interviews.
Jason - was just as goofy in person as on TV but nice.
Syesha - they didn't get to talk to her, just didn't work out.
Kristi Lee - in the words of my neighbor, "she was a little snot!!". She refused to talk to the family. She was overheard trash-talking Michael Johns, saying he went out one night drinking.
The family got to meet the idols the day after they met with Mariah so some of them talked about her. When Carly came into the room to meet Mariah, she was polite and said oh it's nice to meet you, I bought your (such and such) album when I was 10.. and Mariah yells "cut!! Don't ever mention how old you were when you bought my album!!" And they had to fake another introduction for the camera. Can you say DIVA?
Anyway they had a great time. They said the theatre is much smaller in person, only holds about 300 people. And also that all of the idols are SO thin. The TV adds weight. She said they all were just very thin, especially Brooke. The family got celebrity hair and makeup by the same stylists that do the idols.
Oh, and also that at every commercial break, the judges get up with their bodyguards and go off stage, like they can't possibly sit there with the rif-raf for a minute. Paula had to be helped down the stairs and she looked drunk. Ryan talked to No One when the camera wasn't rolling and seemed to be into himself quite a bit!
So those were her impressions. Just thought I'd share.
