David Cook.

I don't know why, but I really don't like him. He comes across as a Daughtry wannabe to me, and I agree with Simon this week...he seemed very smug and way too cocky (I don't mean to offend anyone who likes him; he just doesn't do it for me).

I only watched the first hour....the Dancing With the Stars premiere was on and that trumps Idol for me :o. I saw the recap for the performances I missed, though.

Jason is still my favorite. I felt bad for Brooke...what an odd performance.

Amanda, Kristy Lee, Michael, Brooke, Carly, Jason, Chikezie, Ramiele: Dreck.

Syesha: Passable.

David & David: Welcome to the Boomtown. These guys made such a succulent sound. (I know it isn't 80's week, but I couldn't resist.)

Chikezie should have done "Oh, Darling". Instead, he's headed home.
I agree with most of your picks, with the exception of Carly...I still think she is one of the most talented singers on there.

The biggest "surprise" for me of the night was Michael...I've always thought he had more talent than he's shown, and yet again, he's disappointed me.

Why do beatles 2 weeks in a row. That was awful. I like their music, but enough is enough. Pick a new theme!!!! No wonder so many did bad this time!!!!

Jason Castro doesn't do it for me. He is...dumb. His singing doesn't bother me, I suppose, but I can't stand it when they interview him. I thought he was a mess last nite, his hair, his hillbilly shirt, his pants pulled up to his nipples, the fact that he sang in french and probably didn't even know what he was singing...ugh. Can't wait for him to go.

I think what bothered me about some of the contestants...*cough Kristy Lee cough* was that they said, "Well, I picked the song because I liked the title..." In my opinion, you pick a song that means something to you or that you have an emotional connection with. You DON'T pick a great song like "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" and then proceed to ruin it just because you liked the title. It's no wonder some of them seemed so disconnected (again, Jason comes to mind) because they didn't understand the awesome songs they were singing.

YOU LOOK PRETTY TONIGHT!!!

There is no turning back after she says you look pretty.

That's basically like saying -- Here's the absolute best I have to offer you tonight. The funny part is that they EAT IT UP!!!! Cracks me up every episode. AVOIDING COMMENTING ON YOUR SINGING ISN'T A SUPPOSED TO BE FLATTERING.

My husband and I say the same thing

I agree...you pick either a song you know and then put your own taste on...or you pick a song you hear during the week, that you know you can sing well. If I were on Idol and hadn't heard any Beatles songs (which of course I have) I would be going and getting a CD and picking a song off the CD that I knew I could sing well. I would not pick the song b/c I liked the title

They got it right this week. I really don't think she wanted to be there much longer and she wasn't going to take any risks.

Oh yes, they got it right. I never liked Amanda, and I could never understand what on earth she was jabbering when she sang.

And hotness will stay around for atleast another week. :sohappy:

I hate to see all the Indiana people gone, but Amanda was starting to seem like she didn't really care if she was there or not. And lately she seemed like she was sort of screaming instead of singing.

And did anyone else notice that last nite during the group number (horrendous, btw) that until her solo, she just sort of smiled and made a half-hearted attempt to move her lips? She certainly didn't sing along with the other girls.

I don't think I can take another week of Kristy Lee though.

I did notice that, and was wondering what was going on.
Soooooo excited that she's gone. :D
