Disneyland "Tomorrowland":

Thats not an accurate comparision since the Astro Orbitor doesn't look like that anymore and the rockwork is rumored to be removed soon.

Ironically your WDW pics are appropriate for this thread since Tomorrowland'94 was the LAST major project ever done at Magic Kingdom.

No concept art and but if you want to see more pics of the Astro Orbitor under construction there is more at these two links:

http://micechat.com/forums/blogs/da...ca-construction-nightastic-gears-up-more.html

http://www.mouseinfo.com/forums/showthread.php?p=17320029

Also, this lame play fountain from TL'98 is under construction right now but its too early to tell what the end result is going to be. Seems that the actual fountain area has been removed and only the marbel statue from the middle will remain.

Hong Disneyland's TL looks like a minature golf course
Keep in mind DL's Astro Orbitor only has a few years left.

Hmm..I kinda like the Rock work, but never got why it was there. The long running joke in my family is that BTMR had a child.

After you come out of the last tunnel, the one that you pass by Buzz Lightyear in. :)

Ah...

*goes to do research*

I figured but that is a general idea of what it WAS like.

btw, considering the rockwork is planned to leave any idea on what will happen to the entrance spires?

I've never been able to get a picture of it, considers you have to be looking down out of the car and snap the picture at the exact right time.

Also, I hope they get rid of the purple on the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor building. A bit TOO much color if you ask me.
Forget the color' get rid of Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. Cosmeticly WDW's Tommorowland is great and DL is/was awful. Thematicly' WDW's Tomorrowland is much worse.

Unless your an actual Imagineer or heard directly from one your basing that statement on speculation. As far as im concerned Astro Orbitor is going to be here for at least ten years until I hear otherwise from WDI.

Have you heard from an actual Imagineer?

I completely agree. Get rid of Stitch' Suck Escape and Craptastic Celebration as well.

So wait, am I the only person whose interest is piqued by the suggestion of more Haunted Mansion Improvements?

Of course the return of the Hatbox Ghost is always rumored, and DL is making it more and more apparent that they know who he is, but was there something else they were looking to upgrade? I heard talk of a new effect for the Corridor of Doors, but the talk goes no further than that.

Martin? Lee? Anyone?

. . . Sorry, back to your previously scheduled Space Mountain/Tomorrowland talk :D

Interesting. Improvements to MILF?

Yup there were a couple plasma screens added into the first section of the queue as well as new banners that look more permanent than the ones it use to have. Those might have been there for a while, but they were new to me... The banners try to to tie it into the overall Tomorrowland theme a bit better.

Just to back up HMF, I've heard the exact same rumor that it isn't in the long range plans.

And not slamming you but I'm not sure you have established your creditentials as having a direct line to WDI. I hope you do though.:)

Going by this thread (http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=240344&highlight=laugh+floor), the new banners at least were added in October 2007. Yes, improvements were made, but that's old news now.

I'm not sure what the qualification is for a project being 'major', but Philharmagic's show was quite advanced and hyped strongly. Certainly, it was the biggest non-thrill ride addition to the resort in quite some time.

Well your correct in saying it was the "biggest non-thrill ride addition to the resort in some time" but thats not really saying much about MK. Phillarmagic was basically a revamp of an existing building. It used to be a stageshow so they converted it into a theather. As far as I know they kept the existing queue and seating.

New Tomorrowland (1994) was a massive retooling of the entire land. Virutally everything was rethemed, upgraded and given a coherent story, 2 new attractions debuted (Timekeeper & Alien Encounter), the peoplemover & rocket jets were totally redone, and Sunny Eclipse was added.

The last NEW major addition was Splash Mountain (1992) which was a brand new construction on a basically empty plot of land.

It is now 2009 and we have seen nothing of either of those two projects scale done in the MK.

Am I the only one who liked SM the way it was?

I think it needs a refurb but not to be redone. the Que could be updated and maybe add some cool effects to the ceiling. I understand theyneed to update the track and cars but I hope they keep the same or close to the same layout.
