Am I the only one who liked SM the way it was?

I think it needs a refurb but not to be redone. the Que could be updated and maybe add some cool effects to the ceiling. I understand theyneed to update the track and cars but I hope they keep the same or close to the same layout.

I think it is going to be the same layout, just with some snazzy new effects:)

Well your correct in saying it was the "biggest non-thrill ride addition to the resort in some time" but thats not really saying much about MK. Phillarmagic was basically a revamp of an existing building. It used to be a stageshow so they converted it into a theather. As far as I know they kept the existing queue and seating.

But what about the state-of-the-art 3D film with smell elements and AAs, featuring an special elongated screen and the depiction of classic scenes in CGI? Surely that puts it above simple revamp.

Regardless, if you define 'major' as strictly on the scale of new building or land retooling, then yes, there hasn't been anything that large in the MK since 1994.

I enjoy Philharmagic and see it every time I visit WDW... But, the 3D, CGI, smells, 4D effects have been done before.... Nothing new or innovative there...

It is shown on the largest purpose built 3D screen ever made, at one hundred and fifty feet wide. (Wikipedia)

That's new and innovative, even record-breaking.

Philhar is a nice "patch" for the system, and quite a show stopper, but it hardly stands up to what the other parks have gotten. Or what MK has gotten in the past.

Construction begins today on The Little Mermaid ride at DCA. No sign of work on it's MK counterpart yet.

I'm also hoping the buildings under tarps in Fantasyland will get a paint job similar to their old colour scheme. The "girly" look of the land needs to be fixed IMO (but I'm not the one making billions off Princess merch am I?).

a record-breaking screen doesn't make it a major addition to the park though. its still just a 3D show in an existing building like HISTA, It's tough to be a bug, and countless others

Im not saying its bad or anything im just saying you cant really compare it to stuff like Big Thunder, New Tomorrowland, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, etc.

It is a "thrill ride" with the younger guest in mind. Everything at the MK is not designed for just your age group in mind.

Truth never goes out of style.

You need to read the Paridiso 37 thread. You'll love where I took it!

:ROFLOL:

Indeed! But you have to look at WDW in a new light. This isn't Walt's Disneyland in 1955. I know the quote is nice and all, and it's still a huge part of the Disney ideal. But outside of that, they have to cater to other markets.

I'm scared to look...:lookaroun:lol:

OK, am I the only one who wants to hear more about the John Carter of Mars movie?! If done right this could be huge! Or is this one of those I heard a friend, who hear a friend who overheard an exec who over heard an imagineer? John Carter has everything (swords fights, shoot outs, adventure, a love story(kinda:D), shapely women (and men) and big ugly monsters). What more could you ask for!!

Do you have the list for EPCOT?
Maybe ;)
Just to back up HMF, I've heard the exact same rumor (AO moving upstairs again) that it isn't in the long range plans.
Medium term I was told. A year ago.
Of course the return of the Hatbox Ghost is always rumored, and DL is making it more and more apparent that they know who he is, but was there something else they were looking to upgrade? I heard talk of a new effect for the Corridor of Doors, but the talk goes no further than that.

Martin? Lee? Anyone?
Hatbox? Yes. Corridor? Nothing since before the `07 refurb.
