...So therefore, he is a toy? We're back where we started, toys do not belong in Tomorrowland...

He is NOT a Toy....In this setting. The "Real Buzz Lightyear Universe" is BASED off Toys. This is the actual factual and Sci-Fi Futuristic Star Command that you are visiting in TL.

If you want to see "Toy Buzz" head over to TSMM.

The petty stupidity of some people makes my head hurt.
Buzz Lightyear SPACE Ranger Spin is the name of the ride. And it's a kick-@$$ fun time of a ride.

And for the record, Buzz's theme fits much better in Tomorrowland than any of the previous incarnations of that building...aka Eastern/Delta Dreamflight.

duh.

Agreed on the first part!

The second part...Well, back in the 70's and 80's, cheap, fast and economical air travel WAS futuristic.
That's changed now.

And it fit the look of TL 1.0. When the Sci Fi "Retro" Future came about in 1994, flight was very much out of the question.

"The "Real Buzz" Universe is based off of toys"

^ You posted this a few up... if he ISN'T a toy in this ride, why is he using a Viewmaster for the preshow (or an etch-a-sketch in all the other parks) and why are we looking for clearly toy-based batteries?

We are going in circles. Is it really this hard?

The UNIVERSE that "REAL BUZZ" is in is based off of toys. Is he a toy? No. BUT, it is influenced in DESIGN by TOYS.

It is TOY Story after all...This is a off shoot.

So that means there are lots of toy batteries powering toys, and viewmasters serving as projectors. This sounds like a world of toys. Toys do not belong in Tomorrowland.

(By the way - I'm aware it's based off of the TV series. The TV series, however, did not include toy batteries, etch-a-sketches, and viewmasters.)

Did you not read what I wrote? I have the wonderful feeling you are doing this to antagonize me.

Those are not Toy Batteries. They are Kristoligic Fusion Cells. They look like batteries because they are influenced by earthly idea of a Battery. Yes, you would find that in a toy.

Projector just happens to look like a view master. It's not, though- as stated by the BACKSTORY.

Toys are NOT in Tomorrowland. Toy Story (and it's subsequent "alternative and real life" universe is.

^In other words, Buzz is supposedly a human in the ride, but it's powered by "batteries" as Monstropolis is powered by "screams" or "laughter". The thing is that the toy references ( Viewmaster, Rock em' Sock em' Robots, etc.) are supposedly mere coincidences, just as the world of Pooh is sometimes portrayed as a pop-up book, yet Pooh actually lives there and we're almost never reminded that he lives inside a book. It's a different galaxy, and all the rules change there. That's why you fly there on the "spaceships".

There are 3 distinct frames of "Toy Story" story. The 1st layer is the human world portrayed in the movies and in merch, where they're just toys. The second layer is the toys coming to life. This layer is "broken" in the original "Toy Story" when the toys confront Sid. The 2nd layer is where Toy Story Mania takes place. The 3rd layer is mainly used in the theme parks, where Buzz & Woody (as well as the other toys) have actual worlds in which they live. This is the BLSRS world and ALSO how Woody and Jessie appears in Frontierland as cowboy/girls.

You forgot the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command show, elements from which are used in the attraction, though there needs to be more. Also, the Disneyland one ruins it being in the third layer and not being toys by the Aliens saying that "Zurg has been a bad toy and must be returned to the store"

If you pay attention to the Backstory, you will find that this is not the "Toy Buzz" but rather the "Real Buzz". They have taken the storyline alluded to in TS1 and TS2 and created a whole attraction out of it.

Quite ingenious.:D

ingenious huh? thats why thers a giant toy VIEWFINDER in the queue and rock-um sock-um robots in the ride?

Nope the series wasn't even thought up until years after the ride opened.

Yeah, it wasn't until they added the on-ride photo store that they introduced show elements. I wish they had just plussed the entire attraction that way, maybe have different Space Rangers fighting alongside you throughout the ride.

Buzz Lightyear Spange Ranger Spin is such an awesome ride! I LOVE Buzz, and so do many other adults and kids. It's just like a video game! It really brings some life to TL where it might actually attract some young faces who can't ride Space and think CoP is boring. He totally belongs in TLand and if you don't think he does then why is Space Mountain the signature attraction of TL? It's CRAZY. It's space, and obviously TDO thinks space is TL material. You've got space, a wildly popular character, a unique ride, and a very repeatable ride. What more can you ask for?

A couple of things regarding the Buzz debate:

1) What's it matter if it's human Buzz or toy Buzz? Are people honestly contending there won't be toys in the future? The ride clearly involves space travel, whether in the real world or toy world, that is futuristic.

2) Who cares when the TV show priemered? That isn't fatal to any argument as to the attraction's current fit.

Here's another shot today in honor of our beloved, and delayed, TTA:

Thank you. The ride clearly is inspired by quite a few "toys"... I completely forgot about the rock'em sock'em robots and the references to not only Zurg being a toy, but placing him back in his "box" at the end of the ride to be returned to the store!

I'm not trying to antagonize you, Epcot Explorer, I just really don't like the idea of Buzz Lightyear and a bunch of toys being in Tomorrowland. If they were to make it a little less toy-like (no rock-em sock-em, no viewmasters, no toy boxes) then maybe I'd reconsider, but as it stands, the ride currently references "toys" a little too much for it not to be a coincidence.

A Wall*E ride in that space would be nice. :lookaroun
