Honestly, I agree with you - this guy was clearly very biased towards his project, and I really can't blame him on that. I held my tongue instead of disagreeing (which I normally would have done, since I feel Spider-Man is still #1); I too am looking to Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, as well as Radiator Springs Racers, to see the true evolution of theme park tech...

Even though ive been on it a million times and its a decade old now Spider-Man is still such a fun ride notice how it doesn't rely entirely on projections (as opposed to most modern disney rides) and has lots of physical set pieces and live special effects.

I can only hope both Star Tours 2 and the Harry Potter e-ticket will be just as fantastic if not moreso.

I have my doubts that Star Tours 2.0 (or whatever it's eventually called--hopefully not that) will be amazing. Better, most definitely, but amazing? Hopefully Lucas' ego will force Disney to make it as good as it can be, but how much does Lucas really care? Does he want a cutting edge attraction, or just something to promote his films? With as long as this has taken to get through, I can't help but expect the plans to use technology from 2001 or so. I am not basing this on any inside information, etc., just on my perceptions based upon what I've read.

George Lucas's theme park track record speaks for itself:

Star Tours
Indiana Jones Adventure
Captain EO
Alien Encounter

Not to mention the stunt show, his unused tomorrowland concepts, and the Tokyo version of Indiana Jones Adventure. Lucas has more than proven himself that he will push current theme park tech to the limits for a quality show. He's basically the modern day Walt Disney when it comes to theme park attractions. Not sure what the deal is with the coaster in Paris though..

Trying to get this thread ready for September 12th. in the meantime I will throw a bone at you guys:

A tinkerbell dark ride is being planned as part of the Fantasyland redo for Magic Kingdom. Disneyland may also get a clone (which is what Al Lutz was refering to).

It will be based on the direct to video tinkerbell movies. I know alot of people were wondering why the Pixie Hollow area was so huge in the leaked blueprints. Well, now you know and knowing is half the battle!

If this is true, I'll be ecstatic. More rides=a happy Goof.

If this is true, I'll be at least slightly more impressed - two new dark rides isn't half bad. I wish there was something more directed at boys though... and then again I don't really consider Pixie Hollow of deserving of its own dark ride. We already have Peter Pan!

One dark ride or two, I think the improvements to FL will be well worth while in the end. And I agree that a focus on the lads would be nice, but at the same time focusing more on girls is a smart idea by TDO. It will keep the appeal of MK strong in the light of the HP stuff at Universal.

Where did you read about the Tinkerbell dark ride (LP? Miceage?) Not questioning the info, I'd just like to read it myself...

As for those thinking there is too much for girls, what about the rest of the MK? Frontierland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland? Aren't those all boy-oriented? If anything, the MK could use more 'girl attractions' to balance things out.

Here are some more MK shots:

Yesss...:D I have heard a bit about this.:)

Glad it is beginning to circulate! That means something!

LOVELY!

You ain't kidding. That is amazing.

Glad you guys like it. I had to burn my hands and knees on hot-as-heck pavement getting that shot. I love those Tomorrowland palms. I am really hoping Tomorrowland re-opens as one of the MK's premiere lands. It's already #1 in my head (there is nothing like being there after the park closes, all by yourself, surrounded in that neon listening to the area music), but any plussing will be greatly appreciated!

It looks like the fairies dark ride rumor is gaining some steam. Hopefully most of what's coming is clarified on September 12th. I think Disney will play most of its cards then, and we hopefully won't have as many wild rumors (as to what attractions are actually coming), and instead rumors will focus on the substance of announced plans. It will also be nice to see photo updates of progress of attractions. We haven't really gotten that with the Tomorrowland refurbishments (since they are all within existing structures), and I don't think we've really seen it since Pixar Place. Those updates are always fun.

Here's another shot of Tomorrowland. The ORIGINAL Tomorrowland Terrace:

The processing is a bit over-the-top on that one (what can I say, I got carried away), but I think it works.

By the way, if anyone gets sick of pictures posted in this thread, let me know and I will stop. I know it's an 'anything goes thread', but it's still in News and Rumors, and none of these pictures really entail any News or Rumors.

Well, Disney advertises it that way. I swear, everytime I see a WDW commercial, all they ever show is little girls in princess costumes hugging Cinderella in front of the castle and riding the tea cups and dumbo. :brick:

I really don't understand your point. Are you saying that you're constrained to visit certain attractions or visit certain stores because Disney advertises a certain way? Or that Disney shouldn't build attractions because of the way it advertises?

Honestly, wouldn't it make more sense if Disney reviewed the content of the parks, determined where it has shortcomings, and build to those shortcomings? That seems more logical to me than to examine advertising, which could be skewed to appeal to certain demographics.
