This is related to a picture of the day I posted ( click here).

The Liberty Belle Riverboat came off the track just coming around the north side of TSI. It sat for 20-30 minutes before they started getting people off using the TSI rafts. In the meantime several people could just see the front of the riverboat sitting there, still as can be. Some people I was standing near were talking about it and explained to their kids that it wasn't broken down but that they have dinner cruises and the boat stops halfway around the island so the guests on board can eat their dinner.
Just wanted to let you know that your link isn't quite working. Here's the corrected version: http://aerialphoto.smugmug.com/photos/252065486-L.jpg[

"A troll in a stuffed suite (sic)?"

Wow.

So...you've managed to insult just about every Cast Member on property. Insinuating that just because someone is letting off a bit of steam outside of the situation, he or she does not have "pride" in his or her job? That's ludicrous. Obviously, you've never been in a service-related job.

I, and most every cast member that I've met, take enormous pride in working at Walt Disney World. Truly nothing can compare to the look on a guest's face when you add some magic to their day. However, for every magical experience, there are at least 5 extremely difficult situations to deal wth, all while maintaining the best level of service appropriate to the situation. To do so means internalizing any emotions that one is feeling at the time, no matter how horribly the guest is treating you. I have been yelled at, sworn at, and personally insulted, all for situations as silly as long wait times. Like any normal person, I was extremely frustrated, but managed to force out a polite smile and do my best to solve the situation, if possible. Also, like any normal person, I had to vent my emotions at the next opportunity, but never onstage.

By the way, the last time I checked, Walt Disney Worldwide Services was solely responsible for paying the Cast Members of Walt Disney World.

I'm not sure how to continue my response, except to say:

"Enjoy your trip to the Bahamas, and have a Disney day."

YES!!

AS I said before,

You may think of things in your mind when you are sitting there being a friend of a character but you can't be all smiles all the time when you are being felt up or being insulted by people too. Talk about ruining it for the other guests. We take it because we are professionals.

I LOVED my time working for WDW. Too bad that my contract ended and I paid for my tuition already for school and couldn't extend.

Remember...We are HUMAN. We have feelings as well. We are not robots programed to feel only one emotion.

Majority of my days and the guests are always a true pleasure to encounter and never a moment comes through my mind to no only help in the aiding of a guest's moment magical but make it as great as they expected it to. Words may only be words to you but this is reality. We are not called the happiest place on earth and among the highest visited vacation spot on the globe.

Now you decide, you can never come here based on how you take the text or decide to come and enjoy wdw. WE have hundreds of thousands of guests every year that have a great time. You can be part of them or not, it is no skin off my back.

My understanding is that Riverboat is free floating not on a track...but it is easy to run it aground or get it stuck if the pilot misses the turn there.

a cm calling guests names and stupid here or there is still unproffesional any way you slice it. funny stories is one thing but calling guests stupid and stating that where they are from has more of an issue to their intellegance is a whole other ball game.if CM's (or guests) cannot state a funny situation without demeaning another person or even state than that is WRONG.
And that being a OK normal behavior for cm's and frequant guests to disney that is leaving a very infected sore on the face of disney.

Lay off on the CM bashing.

Nobody's perfect, and most, if not all of the CMs, join because they love Disney, as much as you and I do.

Not to mention, these are people earning minimum wage for what, operating the world's most popular attractions day in and day out, through the scorching heat and the cold rain?

Don't judge a CM until you've walked down Main Street in their uniform.

Oh, and I suggest you get spell check. :)

Ill say it again it still reflects poorly on the CM's as a whole and it reflects poorly on the park. I don't care where you are saying it here or there. How you all talk in here you would think you CM's would take some pride in your job and not dirty it by talkin crap on a message board about the guets that pay you. cause without the "stupid" guests your nothing but a troll in a stuffed suite. might as well be dressed as a hot dog outside a ball game

I'm sorry you feel that way. But I take great pride in how I am as a CM. I have nothing more to say on this topic.

If you came here for a "support group", you're sadly mistaken. Yes we support each other here, but venting (when you're not at the job)about stupid things people say and do goes on in any profession. Just ask any teacher, doctor, lawyer, or any other professional. It's normal, it's healthy, and it's harmless.

Amen!

Lay off on the CM bashing.

Can it be a different costume? I don't like the Main Street one- too uncomfortable.:lookaroun

I know I said I was done. But there is nothing to appologize about.

Also, I would never make fun of anyone on MaW or GKTW. Why would you even think that someone would make fun of them?

Jo, and everyone else, just stop answering the troll. It's clear he is trying to be inflammatory and rile everyone up, and it's working. Use your ignore list, stop quoting his posts, and let's go back to sharing funny stories about things we've seen and heard at Disney. Enough of this nonsense.

If there are the type of people that you must make fun of than give up your low paying job and give someone else it that may treat it with respect on or off the disney clock

A hearty try, but not the best way of expressing your desire to be CMO.

Will not lay off CM Bashing until there is a appolagy from those Cm's IN the forum Not IM. what is the problem with admitting to what certain ones said. And what about the deep south bashing? I'm not from the south but that is wrong. Alsoif they take so much pride why do you not care that guests may find you calling them stupid and illiterate (was the other comment from a cm about a disney sgn) offensive. You are offended from what I am saying about cm's as a whole. But we are to be ok with what you say about a guest that may be the first time at a disney complex. The most HORRORFYING thought I have is that one of these stupid or illiterate people you are talking about may be some family that got there thru a make a wish or other style of help. If there are the type of people that you must make fun of than give up your low paying job and give someone else it that may treat it with respect on or off the disney clock

I think you are being ridiculous.

Sorry, nobody is going to go to you on IM and write you an apology letter. Maybe it was your first time, and if it was, they were wrong to say that.

First off, I am not a CM.

Out of the four times I've been to WDW, I've never once had a bad experience with a Cast Member, even when I went there my first time and I had no clue what to do.

So stop generalizing CMs and ruining the magic for everyone else with your "situation".

If your problem is big, take it to Disney. Don't insult the CMs on here, because it is making you look like a jerk, not the CM.

very well, I can't let this slide any further. this is the PM that I sent you quite a while ago which you read and did not respond to.

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that your last post about why you were offended, I finally understood where you were coming from.

I can see why some of the posts in there might have seemed bad. I don't think anyone had bad intentions with it, they just genuinely thought they were funny and well I guess were thoughtless about it.

I know I posted a couple of stories, I want to apologize if you found them offensive. I enjoy Disney in spite of having grown up in Orlando and worked there for 25 years, and I love helping guests understand and find their way around the place.

One suggestion, if I may, if a specific post bothers you maybe address that person as you finally did. I sometimes tend to react emotionally instead of responding to curb the bad feelings and get in trouble, but I am learning. Say something to make the person aware like "Ya know, I don't know all the Disney characters either, but I don't think I am stupid." Most of us on here will "wake up" and realize our mistake and apologize.

Your first post sounded like you were blasting everyone and so they blasted back. Unfortunately that is common. Just thought that would help. And here's maybe to some better experiences on the board.

Scot

Are you happy? You failed to respond to this. I checked my posts and not once did I call anyone stupid or say demeaning things. I made a reference to a British person because I enjoyed their accent in the moment. If that is demeaning, then I guess the world will just have to get over it. I love the British and Australian accents I have travelled to several countries around the world including Britain, Scotland, Norway, France and have also been to Canada and Mexico and seen Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as well as Grand Cayman, I have studied French for about 5 years and actually found many occasions to use it[Edit: Although I can commiserate about grammar because my French is sometimes awkward as well] You have consistently come in [edit:and been rather discourteous], and if you re-read the PM i sent you I made a polite suggestion about a better way to address your concerns. You failed to do it. You still have not responded to this PM which I sent on 2/3, about a week ago.

Then you insinuate in this post that we have made fun of Wish Children or disabled people, [edit: please don't do that, we have all experienced and had tremendous respect for the Wish Children and their families and no one here has made a comment of that kind:animwink:]

[edit: this line removed]

[edit: this line removed also] When you make general accusations about CMs you have accused us all. We work very hard, though I currently do not work there, I know what it is like. I know some CMs who do have bad attitudes, they usually don't last. [edit: this line removed too, wow I really did blow my top] I found some of the posts on here funny, and others not so funny. Other people have had concerns with certain posts here and addressed them in a much better way [Edit: so that maybe you could follow their example]

[Edit: I wanted to make clear that your request for being public would be acknowledged ]

First off: Stop bashing fellow members of the board. Whatever they said to you, they are obviously regretting it, and wish to make up.

Stop embarassing them on these boards. You are not making he/she look like a jerk. You are being ther jerk here. Accept their apology, and move on to brighter and better things. We're all human.

Okay, I'm sorry, I'll go edit mine...I reacted instead of responding... I apologize publicly.

I would prefer not to close it.

If everyone could just calm down and think a little bit before posting, things will be a lot more pleasant.

Please, no more throwing insults towards guests or other forum members, no more tantrums, no more demands for public apologies, no more reacting with insults to insults, both real or perceived, and no more reading a thread if you don't like the topic.

cocola stated (not echo) that a child called his charecter by the wrong name and called that child stupid. BUt that is ok for you pplthat a cm will get agtated and call a child stupid for calling his costume by the wrong name here or there. this is not a adult Im erked about it was towards a child. IS that not what disney is about the children. why call them stupid even on a forum for calling a charecter costume by the wrong name one it wasnt funny and 2 it was way out of line

I guess I'll bring this thread back where it should be while we're on the topic...

We were walking past the train station, and walkng right around Town Square, when a member of my family almost trampled Mickey Mouse, and vice versa.

Also, after an afternoon in the Magic Kingdom, we went back to the Grand Floridian, and tidied up to go to the Hoop-de-doo. Apparently, another member of our family got the idea that there is a boat that goes from the TTC to Fort Wilderness.

Of course, no one listens to the resident Disney geek, and there is no boat that goes from TTC to Fort Wilderness. Me and yet another member of my family wound up sprinting to Pioneer Hall, missing our show by mere seconds.

I happen to be dark-skinned and have short black hair. On a trip about 10 years ago, while perusing the shops in Morocco, no less than three families asked me questions about the merchandise, what it's like in Morocco, and how my stay in the US had been so far. :ROFLOL:

I suppose I do look like I could be Moroccan, but I was wearing a University of Michigan T-shirt and jeans! Did these people really believe that was the uniform of the workers in the Morocco shops???
