Ill say it again it still reflects poorly on the CM's as a whole and it reflects poorly on the park. I don't care where you are saying it here or there. How you all talk in here you would think you CM's would take some pride in your job and not dirty it by talkin crap on a message board about the guets that pay you. cause without the "stupid" guests your nothing but a troll in a stuffed suite. might as well be dressed as a hot dog outside a ball game
"A troll in a stuffed suite (sic)?"

Wow.

So...you've managed to insult just about every Cast Member on property. Insinuating that just because someone is letting off a bit of steam outside of the situation, he or she does not have "pride" in his or her job? That's ludicrous. Obviously, you've never been in a service-related job.

I, and most every cast member that I've met, take enormous pride in working at Walt Disney World. Truly nothing can compare to the look on a guest's face when you add some magic to their day. However, for every magical experience, there are at least 5 extremely difficult situations to deal wth, all while maintaining the best level of service appropriate to the situation. To do so means internalizing any emotions that one is feeling at the time, no matter how horribly the guest is treating you. I have been yelled at, sworn at, and personally insulted, all for situations as silly as long wait times. Like any normal person, I was extremely frustrated, but managed to force out a polite smile and do my best to solve the situation, if possible. Also, like any normal person, I had to vent my emotions at the next opportunity, but never onstage.

By the way, the last time I checked, Walt Disney Worldwide Services was solely responsible for paying the Cast Members of Walt Disney World.

I'm not sure how to continue my response, except to say:

"Enjoy your trip to the Bahamas, and have a Disney day."

If you don't like it, don't read it.

Leave it alone for those who find it funny.

Most people here can find the humor, sorry that you cannot.

Well said. I have no problem with CMs posting their frustrations. We all have crap we have to put up with on our jobs, mine included. We wouldn't be human if we didn't need to vent now and again. CMs are no different. The CMs on this post are not naming names, showing photos, etc. Just some good old fashioned bit_hing about their jobs.

I'm wondering if our angry poster is one of the "dumb" guests and it's hitting a little too close to home? Just a thought . . .

I think you need to go find a sense of humor. I'm not a cast member, but I am in the military, and I'll tell you that everyone is guilty at some point or another of making fun of our leadership(political and military), and even the people we help when we serve. The main thing is, we NEVER do it while in uniform(at least the servicemen and women I know don't).

I have had several times where I want to knock someone out, be it because they are protesting the military, or whatever, but I have to bite my tongue and move on because I'm in uniform. However, you better believe the minute my uniform comes off, and I have a forum to vent about it, I do. It's called blowing off some steam, and every human does it. You are not above anyone else, and in fact are a grade A hypocrite. Have a nice day.

Could we please get back to having a little fun talking about some of the funny/silly/downright stupid things that people say and do a WDW?

No one with the least bit of maturity and comon sense believes that CMs who have posted do not take pride in their work, or let their true feelings show while on stage. I know that there are a few who might, but the majority do not.

There were many times when I would complain about a patient to my family (but omitting any identifable details) but that does not mean that I was anything but professional, competent, and compassionate while on duty.

I believe the same can be said about anyone, in any profession or occupation. We all have to vent, and laugh, at the absurdities of everyday life from time to time. So lets stop the name calling, OK?

I also agree that anyone under 12 should not be reading/posting on the internet without parental supervision, except on 100% child oriented/safe websites.

Well said. I can almost guarantee the people at WDW that answer complaints by those like ele also roll their eyes and talk about it later. They don't express that to the customer because they're professionals.

I compleatly agree and want to add that none of these stories make me think any less of Cast Members or especially Disney in general. In fact - the complete opposite - Most of these stories do nothing but increase respect for cast members. The fact that you can keep your cool and remain in your on stage character when faced with a silly or rude guest says alot about the type of people you are. Especially when you are faced with a silly/confused guest and have the patience to sit there and straighten them out and get them on the right track.

You all deserve a big round of applause :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy: You make Disney magic what it is.

Please - keep the stories coming.

this thread really is turning myself off from wanting to go to disney again escply some of the comments from CM's. way to ruin disney for me and the family.but none of you all ever made a lame comment or mistake "EVER" in your life right?

Chill out...there are thousands of CMs and you are delusional if you don't think some of them make fun of guests who make silly comments. Lets be realistic, people are people and even though disney does its best in hiring magical employees there are simply not enough of those people who will work in the FL heat. So suck it up and bring your family to WDW, they will have the best time of their lives. :)

OMG . . . these are way to funny. It's amazing to me how many people do not research where they are vacationing. I'm always on the internet, at the book store, etc. gathering info when I vist a new place.

Just imagine how hard it would be to research if we didn't have those resources.. IE like when the park first opened

I gotta say, I find all this very funny! THe stories are hilarious, and I don't see how they could be offensive to any of us reading on here. Most of the people who read these forums are Disney Junkies, and know all the answers to the stupid questions that guests ask. Also, I know if there was a story put up by a CM that was something I might have done in the past I would probably laugh still and be like "I've done that!" hahaha.... They aren't telling any stories about personal people, no names are being said (as Im sure they dont even know the names of the guest they are telling stories about). I still don't understand how this could mean they dont have any pride in their jobs etc. I work at walmart, I do my job, and I go hiome and vent, SOmetimes I vent to customers if they witness something happen... Does that mean that no one should go to walmart knowing that the workers make fun of customers???? NO.

But can the payaint see read or hear that you are calling them stupid or making fun of them. Can you say any of your patiants can repeat what you said about a patiant or other.would you go to a support group website and call the people stupid or make fun of them. because I feel this is a support group for disney future fans and past. they come here to find info and read about what they may be getting into going to such a place as disney. what cocola said and others would be the same thing as calling a pataint stupid on a support style forum
If you came here for a "support group", you're sadly mistaken. Yes we support each other here, but venting (when you're not at the job)about stupid things people say and do goes on in any profession. Just ask any teacher, doctor, lawyer, or any other professional. It's normal, it's healthy, and it's harmless.

if they had pride in their work they would not call a guest "stupid" or anything else I read here in the presance of a guest or so a guest can read or hear it. guests still read this and see that they are in fact at times making fun of them "behind the mask" and on here so yes I still say they have no pride in their job if they such things in anyway that a guest can see hear or read about it.

OK, you've made your point, others do not agree, and restating will not persuade. As has also been said, your choice of wording is also inflammatory which has led to some of the reactions.

If your desire is simply to throw gasoline on a fire, then you can deal with the consequences. If you want to participate in viable and usually fun dialog on this site, then I suggest you move on to other topics.

Have a Magical Day

What a concept!
But don't try to bring common sense into the arguments here...it will probably be ignored!

The big difference here is on wdwmagic.com, these people are NOT guests anymore. Just because I go to webmd.com does not make me a patient.

This is the internet; filled with free speech.

The stupidest question I ever got when I was a cast member was when someone asked me if the TTA went to Universal.

I had no clue how to react because it's not like you see little blue cars running around everywhere.

God bless each and every cast member! I certainly don't know how you do it. Let me just say that I appreciate each and every one of you!! I've been to WDW over 35+ times (I'll be down on 2/28! Can't wait!). We visit 3 - 4 times a year. I have met so many wonderful CMs over the years, one nicer than the next.

In fact, my son and I came up with a little "thank you" gift for the CMs this upcoming trip. I can't wait to give them out! :sohappy:

This is related to a picture of the day I posted ( click here).

The Liberty Belle Riverboat came off the track just coming around the north side of TSI. It sat for 20-30 minutes before they started getting people off using the TSI rafts. In the meantime several people could just see the front of the riverboat sitting there, still as can be. Some people I was standing near were talking about it and explained to their kids that it wasn't broken down but that they have dinner cruises and the boat stops halfway around the island so the guests on board can eat their dinner.

Oh, yeah! I forgot my funny guest moment...well, one of them anyway. (And, by the way, I have never been a cast member anywhere.)

We were at Sea World waiting to see the Shamu show, sitting about 3 rows behind the handicap seating. There was a couple probably in their 50's sitting on one of the benches obviously reserving the entire bench for their family. A husband and wife waltz over and sit right between them. The lady who was reserving the seats politely says "Excuse me, I'm saving these seats for my family. We all want to sit together."
The other lady, who happens to have a strong British accent, gets into a crazy arguement about "you can't save these seats. They're for handicap people."
"But I have a wheelchair in my party that is on their way."
"Well, you should have all come together. SHUT MOANING."
"Well, can I at least sit next to my husband?"
British lady: "If you would have shut all that moaning and just said so, we would have scoot over." (to husband) "What is with all these Americans and their moaning?" (turns back towards other lady and says very obnoxiously)
"JUST SHUT MOANING!"

It was really funny in the moment...may not translate as well here...
I have definately heard guests make some hilarious comments at WDW. I think my favorite Disney specific comment was about 3 or 4 years ago in Epcot at the American Outpost. Some lady said "Didn't this used to be the Australian Pavillion? What did they do with the Safari Ride?"

Yea, the safari ride in Australia...:p
