A Set of Goofy Observations

1) 5 minute wait for stitch all day today. Time to gut that building and put in a similar D show or some kind of dark ride (if it fits - no idea). Or simply go back to the non-PC Alien Encounter. Tell the kiddies to go cry on Snow White and let us big kids have a fun and thrilling show for once.

Sorry, but that won't happen and it can't happen.

Alien Encounter is DEAD!

5) Tiki needs another new manager.

Also not going to happen anytime in the future. Iago and Zazu are here to stay.

Most WDW guests enjoy UNM.

I had a very fulfilling Jungle Cruise :lookaroun

I'll use this thread to make my JC comments from this week, rather than start a new one or post in an exhausted thread.

Rode it 3 times (twice at night, once today at 10am). First one was with (I believe) a Japanese fellow. I had hoped to hear the new jokes, but I was barely able to recognize the originals :(

Tried again last night and got Allesandra(?). Different accent, same difficulty in understanding dialogue, unfortunately.

Today, we hit the jackpot. Had Janson. He is amazing. Excellent delivery. Great projection and enunciation. Perfect timing. Good use of slapstick and physical humor. Plus, he has a good singing voice, as he serenaded us while holding for "further traffic clearance".

He did make one joke that I'm pretty sure is not on Disney's approved script, but was very funny:

[as headhunters attack from left]
"Everyone duck! [screaming] Take the virgins! Oh wait, that's me. [makes Star Trek hand gesture] 'Live long and prosper'".

Yes, Janson is very, very good. Glad you finally got a good one.

ICPs should not be allowed to work heavily spieling attractions, but that's just me.

I'm going to give my next park update before responding to some of your guys responses.

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Other than having the worst name out of the lot, DHS has ascended to the rank of my favorite park. It's so much more alive than any of the other three with Streetmosphere, Mulch, Sweat, and Shears, and just the abundance of entertainment.

Toy Story is still a heck of a lot of fun, but I still think it needs to get rid of Fastpass. Also, A LOT of the 4-D effects were broken, most notably in Bow Peep's game.

I finally got to see Luxo!:sohappy: Wow, what a great piece of engineering there. Really adds a lot to the area. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the nighttime show, but I'll do that the next time I'm down.

Monsters Inc is still on the burner, as far as I've been told.

Tower is a close runner up for best ride on property.

GMR gets better and better every time I ride it.

Didn't waste our time on American Idol or Lights, Motors, Action!

Indy is still a huge crowd pleaser, and packs in the crowds.

Muppets was looking really blurry. That change over to digital can't come soon enough. But the show still kills every time. Kids and adults were cracking up in the preshow and the main show.

Star Tours is still great, and I can't wait for the new one and it's multiple beginnings, middles, and ends.

Watched a little bit of Block Party, and as nice as it is, I feel like it's really out of place in DHS.

Went into the animation building for a few pics with the Up! characters.

The BAH really needs to go, along with the BLT.

Fant! was great as always, but I really think Pocahontas needs to be replaced with something.

My general thoughts/musings on the park:

When Star Tours is done, DHS will have 3 top flight E-tickets(ToT, GMR, and STII), an underwhelming one(RnRc), and a great D ticket(TSMM). If Monsters happens, as I think it will, that will round out the park with another D ticket, but personally I think it needs a few smaller draws. I think Sounds Dangerous would be the perfect place to bring over a show like Cinemagique! Also, I'd really like to see Playhouse Disney replaced by a Phineas and Ferb show or attraction.

I've heard a rumor that Star Tour's queue will be heavily reworked, and that the changes to the Muppets preshow will be extensive.

Well said. DHS is like Epcot, it is so frustratingly close to being on par or even exceed the MK. But it is moving in the right direction. No doubt about it.

Family's decision, although I've always enjoyed Crystal Palace.

As for Cindy's table, I was very, very impressed. Even though it's expensive, they basically give you whatever you want. I got 2 appetizers and 2 desserts.

CP has always had decent food, and the foamheads aren't as obnoxious as some ... but the screaming, running brats are another matter.

And Cindy's? Well, at those price points they should have given you whatever you wanted (even a lap dance by a princess!)

I just won't dine there on principal as they've taken an adult, high-end (for a theme park) location and made it a pricey princess palace.

Used to love dining there for lunch and dinner. No more.

MK's at the bottom of my list currently. There's just too much I won't do there if I'm on my own. I won't waste my time with Buzz, MILF, SGE, Tiki, Aladdin, and all of Fantasyland besides Philarmagic and Pooh. That's almost half the park.

I was actually pleasantly surprised by Cindy's. The character portion was a very small time during the meal, and isn't like the rest where they are constantly hounding you.

I was surprised that she was the woman who did the voice of Mama Odie in PatF.

NO... F*#$... WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! My Hair Lady from Star Tours is Mama Odie?!?! She's a Disney Legend! She HAS to reprise her role!

EMERGENCY UPDATE: She was also Flo in Cars and had parts in That's So Raven and the Proud Family. Her name's Jenifer Lewis

I have to disagree there. I'd love for a phineas and Ferb 4D show to come as rumored to where SD is myself. I have a 2 year old sister and right now and there isn't much for kids her age to do there. She can't go on the big rides and won't sit through any shows EXCEPT the playhouse disney show b/c she knows and loves the characters. Everytime i'm in there, it seems the theater is full and all the kids are having a great time. You have to think, Disney is targeted at a family audience. While DHS is more of the teen/adult park, they do need things for young children to do there as well. Just because it doesn't interest you doesn't mean that there aren't a bunch of young children who love those characters that love that show.

Exactly right.
Ahhh...the old Cindy's Table/King Stefan's....
(My theme park fine dining needs are now being met at Mythos.:slurp:)

It's lively hood and feel certainly is. Don't know about attractions.

As said before...Streeetmosphere. Amazing.

You are kidding, right? Ate there a few times, thought the food was bland, and very salty. I was nonplussed.

MK is not all it is cracked up to be anymore. It is so crowded and full of ankle bitters, very bleh. If it wasn't for the nostalgia....

Anyway, after this past trip, DHS finally passed MK to me. I don't know why, but I was really digging DHS in December. My new ranking:

1) DAK
2) EPCOT
3) DHS
4) MK

I've been saying DHS is underrated for awhile now. That said, a few hundred million could really create a park that is a B- now into an A+ world class destination.

Agreed in full jt. I've said this before to friends, if they would add a few things and rework some old attractions (Animation, Sounds Dangerous, Indy Stunt Show, Beauty and the Beast and update Fantasmic!) it would be an outstanding park.

Oh, and tear that retched Hat down.

It needs a lot. Hopefully the FLE Project will be the first step in a effort to revitalize it, which I think it will be.

I hope, but it still needs something.... and new management. :brick:
