Disney's Animal Kingdom
The park is still a terrific example of what Disney can do when they go all out with theming, but it still needs a few more attractions, especially ones that can keep the park open until nighttime all year round. I've never been awed at the beauty of a park at night more than DAK.
Everest...man that Yeti needs to be fixed. Currently the ride is like an action movie without a climax. Having him suspended there is so incredibly lame, I almost can't describe it. And don't tell me how B mode is a suitable replacement. It's not. The whole ride is a build up for a final, climactic confrontation with the beast, and having him stationary and barely visible is a lame payoff, and the guests notice. I went on Everest a good 8-10 times, and each times I heard comments of, "That's it?" or "Where was the yeti?". Not to mention having the yeti broken really brings to light the other short comings of the ride, such as the light leaks in the tunnels and the general lack of theming along the second half of the ride.
Kilimanjaro is still an amazing and terrific ride, and is probably in the Top 5-10 on the resort.
It's Tough to Be a Bug is looking great, and all effects were working.
Dinosaur is still a heck of a ride, but they need to fix the lighting in that place. Some of the animatronics are barely visible, where other places the walls of the ride are clearly visible and really ruins the show.
Didn't waste our time in Dinorama, but my mom gave me the quote of the week while passing. Completely unprompted she says, "That place is so stupid and tacky. I really wish they'd get rid of it." I promptly gave her a big hug.
Finding Nemo the Musical is such a terrific show, as well as Festival of the Lion King. I find it odd that DAK has the two best stage shows on property and not DHS, but that's just me.
It was way too cold for Kali, so we skipped it.
As much as I love DAK, it does need some more offerings. I love the trails and the exhibits, but it's still a theme park and needs more attractions.
