How would you rate the "Big 3?"

Wii, XBox360, and PS3?

Is the PS3 worth the money? I'm actually contemplating getting one just for the Blu-Ray capabilities but I don't want a subpar component. (For instance, I would say the Playstation and Playstation 2 were subpar DVD players...is this the case with the PS3?)
I have the Wii for the games...and they are the type of games I like. The only game I would probably ever play for the PS3 would be GranTurismo. Also, I'd probably get Call of Duty 4. It seems as if the Wii is just one step behind when it comes to the CoD's.

Ranking would all depend on what you want out of a system. If you want hardcore PC style gaming then the Xbox 360 or the PS3 is the way to go. For fun party or family style gaming nothing can hold a candle to the Wii. What I have heard regarding the PS3 and its blu-ray playback is that is is a good player. The only complaint is you either need to control the DVD features with the game pad or buy the separate remote and from what I understand you can not program the average learning remote to work with it.

Ew...you need to use the game pad or buy a separate remote?

I would want to use my universal remote anyways...but I wouldn't be able to? That stinks...maybe I'll hold off.

I had been trying that for about 18 months. I dropped about $500 on a case and power supply, got the case all tricked out and every time I got the additional $2000 in the bank for the rest of the PC something would come up and there went my gaming rig fund. I finally gave up and got and Xbox 360 elite.

I tend to agree with ya there, Yoda. It took forever to save up a bit for my rig. And before that... I was a big console gamer. Meh.. I am not knocking consoles... like I said... I see a PS3 in my future, somewhere along side my gaming rig. :)

I'm not a gamer period

I got the Wii because it intrigued me...and now I'm hooked

I think I see a PS3 in my future also though.

My less-than-one-year-old-Wii's disk reader puttered out Christmas night. It was a sad, sad night.
Luckily it was still under warrenty, so I sent him to the Nintendo Hospital and he was cured for free. He just got back home today. I am very happy since I can finally complete Mario Galaxy.

I have one too. And yes, I find it very addictive. Especially since i got Guitar Hero for it. hehe.
Speaking of which, I think I am going to go play it right now. :)

The big thing that kept me a PC gamer was graphics. I never even would have considered going to a console had the consoles not gone HD. I am still not to hip on the game pad for first person shooters but a soon to happen $90 purchase will let me hook up a mouse and keyboard to my xbox and I'll be back to 100%. I will also build a somewhat scaled down version of the original rig I had planned or wait until the price on the hardware I wanted hits the basement in the near future.

Wii games!!!

I just found out that Mario Kart for the Wii is coming this Spring!!!! :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

(Also, Lego Batman)

I want Mario Golf and Mario Tennis now!

On another note...is it true that PS3 is working on a controller similar to the Wiimote?

I haven't even looked at the Virtual Console...is every game available or just a select few from all of the systems? (Also, are GameCube games available?)

The virtual console has games from the NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, Turbografix 16 and I think one or two other systems. It's not every game by any means, but they add around 2-4 new games every Sunday. It's got a lot of the true classics, including the original Zelda, Castlevania, most of the old Mario Bros games, Golden Axe, etc. As for GameCube, you don't need the virtual console for that. The GameCube games are able to be read by the Wii and you just plug the GameCube controllers into the special slots located in the top of the Wii.

Oh, I know that GameCube games would work, I just didn't know if they were available for download also.

I'm addicted to "Link's Crossbow Training". I'm trying to get the Platinum medals for all the rounds. It's turning out to be mission impossible.
It brings back fon memories of duck hunt for the NES.

How are you doing so far on that? I've got three out of eight platinums. The rest I've gotten gold on.

Man, I am really out of luck... After the "bug problem" on Zelda, I found out this week that I missed Mysterio's simulation disc on Marvel Ultimate Alliance and there's no way to go back and get it.
