What did you do?

Gym yesterday left my legs super sore (not in the injured way). Love that... means I did something. Having to shift my weekday workouts to a "time" instead of distance. It will still revolve around distance since I know 45 min is about 5-5.25 miles, and 55 minutes is 6-6.5.

Today, 45 minutes and half of that was with Mr Toby. Im going to get a photo of him tomorrow running with me. Man I love that dog. He sleeps next to our bed, and when I get up and start putting on my running shoes, he starts nudging my arms and hands telling me he wants to go. Such a good boy.

Well, my run streak kinda fell flat. I've been having an inner ear issue since Thanksgiving with CRAZY vertigo...not fun. However, I am trying to keep up with leg exercises so I'm not totally sedentary. I did find that doing squats as a warm-up before I run leads to a nice pace.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Another 45 minutes this morning and 5 miles. Too hot for Mr Toby since it was low 60's and high humidity in the 90's. So, I was solo.

Monday on lunch, and late last night, I had this weird pain behind my big toe between the joint and the ball of the foot. Arm chair doctor looks like it is the inside sesamoid bone or what connects to it. I have no idea how I hurt it. After doing the diagnosis of potential problems with that area, it doesnt hurt when I bend it, stretch it etc, just when I press on it from an angle from the second toe. Send a tingle up my big toe. Ice and anti-inflam meds today. Switching swimming from Friday to tomorrow, run Friday.

I dont do well when injured. I obsess over it.

I was laughing about that myself!

Hope you feel better @joel_maxwell.
It will be fine. I think it might have happened when I was playing tag with the kids and Mr Toby Sunday in the yard. Well worth it, but I have a huge Cheaha camping and running trip Friday night and Saturday morning. Only reason Im freaking.

I knew he would "like"that too. LOL, Ill run thru it like I do the rest of the stuff... until it is on the verge of breaking, then i take a day or two off, and test the waters.

It's gotten seriously cold here! Friday we are expecting a high of minus 6, with 25mph winds so it will feel like minus 33. I am not exaggerating, this is winter in the Rockies. So my 17 mile run in have planned for Friday is going to happen at an indoor track near here, 8 laps/mile...wish me strength and tenacity...I expect it's going to be pretty challenging mentally.

Yikes! I won't complain at our 30 degree days! It is actually pretty warm here and was 50 today! Good thoughts heading your way!

I only did 2 miles today but I added a challenge and took both my dogs. Boy that is a workout! We did a pretty quick first mile as they were pulling me most of the way. When I turned back, my boxer mix started slowing down so I let him set the pace. He is definitely a little out of shape. My cattle dog mix could go all day. My upper body definitely got a workout!

Thanks! And running with dogs...always fun! I also have one who can go forever and then one who hangs right behind my back foot doing all she can to keep up with me. Luckily where I live I don't really need to leash them ever, otherwise I think I would leave them home quite a bit more...I would probably get an arm ripped out they are both pretty big.

Ran 2.85 miles in little over 30 minutes Wednesday, first day back running in Memphis after my PR of a run in the Space Coast Half Marathon in Cocoa Village, Fla. It was 74F and windy and humid, about 86%. It got up to 76F in Memphis, and as I type this, at 1:30am CT Thursday it's still hovering around 68-70F. From here all downhill - lots of rain, rumble of thunder, and, well, the North Pole will pay a visit for the next week. Rain, ice, snow, and cold. Not as bad as other parts of North America, but by Friday night Memphis could have a bad ice and snow storm.

The St. Jude marathon, half marathon, 5K and family 1 mile fun run are all still on. I see that it will be around 19-24F at run time for marathon Saturday. Big talk is will there be a snow day for the excepted ice storm and will the marathon still be run? Us runners will run in cold, as truly attested by you all. As for getting my PR again Saturday, out of the question. I and 20K runners will be likely running on a sheet of ice.

Picking up my race packet Thursday, the better of the two days. Hope all the runners coming from all over the globe are already here or will have safe travels by Friday. There were rumors St. Jude and ALSAC were going to cancel the marathon. Rumors.

4.1 miles trying for speed this morning but just not feeling it. I don't know if it's because I'm tired and have a lot on my mind or because I'm sick of running in the damp/misty/foggy/rainy weather we've had all week.

On the good side, 24 hours from now we should be on our way to WDW!!!!!

Nah, me??? I think he should rest. Get some scented candles, draw himself a hot bath. Poor a glass of wine, but not too much, and read a Nicholas Sparks book. That should get him better for this weekend...:hilarious:

Good luck! I hope the weather cooperates. As long as it doesn't get all icy it should be ok. I love running in the 20 degree range...If it's dry out.

They just lowered my expected low to -46 with the windchill Friday

Ooooookay! Who the hell kidnapped Nick.

Swimming today to give that area an extra day. Its swollen for sure and it has lived in a ice bowl. Swelling it hitting some nerves and making big toe tingle and surrounding areas. 55 minutes tomorrow and then long run saturday.

Anyone ever gotten a cortisone shot? Only thing I have heard, it hurts like a ... and I cant imagine between your toes, but if it is still bothering me this weekend, Im going to a podiatrist, telling him I dont have time for this "stuff", and I need it fixed before it gets to were I cant run on it. :D

EDIT: I hate when I do research and see tons of negative reviews of something. Then I start second guessing. Seeing a lot of recent review of C shots not considered to be a good thing.

It may not be helpful for your problem as well. Steroids help with inflammation, but so does ice, rest and ibuprofen. I got one in my wrist once and it was incredibly painful, it didn't really improve my pain in the long run. What fixed my wrist was time. I am an ER nurse so sports medicine is not really my area, hopefully the podiatrist can fix you up.
