What did you do?

We did 9.5 miles today - legs are feeling a bit heavy now, but overall pleased.
Excellent Job. That is all that matters.

10.55 miles just now. Blood-sugar issues again.

Destroyed 2 bananas when I got back home.
D-O-C-T-O-R. The reason it is scary (and you might be completely aware) is that blood sugar controls the neurological signals from the brain. That just scares the crap out of me.

In your case, I would be afraid of going into some weird hypoglycemic shock. I know that is worst case thinking, but feeling like this at some point during a 10 mile run leaves miles left, and those levels could drop even more.

Oh yeah, I'm a negative nancy, and I always think worst-case scenario. Making an appointment today for sure. Thanks Joel.

4 Miles tonight in the cold, rain, fog and mist. It was a nasty run... but it could have been raining much worse so I was safe under a lot of the tree canopy.

31:35 - 7:53 pace

Question: Can anyone else sense or tell by the way you are running or I guess I should say the "feel" of how you are running that day your speed? It is almost dead on with me. I can tell if I have a 7:30, 8 or 8:30ish pace over the course of 3 or 4 miles. I would say that once you get up in the 6+ it would be a little harder to maintain a sense, but it is kind of weird.

I knew tonight that I was running around a 7:40 mile. On mile 3, I zoned out for a little while and caught my HR dipping way down. I wasnt pushing hard. I think that mile must have been around a 8:15ish mile. Since it is in a neighorhood, I dont have true mile markers except driveways I could see from a satelite, and I just dont feel like trying to remember

Yupper. I can pretty much tell what pace I'm at. I've looked at my 305 (*shameless plug, and to nudge Joel again :D*) and have been spot on give or take 00:10 sec. I'm good only up to 8-7:30 pace, any faster and I can't tell my pace, and I'm usually not looking at the 305 (*nudges Joel again*) if I'm going that fast.

Yeah. Not sure how accurate I am, but I can definitely tell when my pace is off. I don't really have steps in my pacing, so I know if I am on my 5k race pace, a 1/2 marathon pace, or something else all together. I just have a few pace zones that I know how they should feel and what time they will yield.

Short 6.25 miles in high wind, and cold rain. I wanted to do my usual 10+ but the wind was just too much today. I decided not to be so serious and slammed into every puddle that presented itself :D

Actualy it was a B-tag

I wonder somtimes how good those are. People tend to mangle the race bibs, or put them under belts etc.

I think that is why they have 2 strips on the back. Make em a little more durable. I think as long as you don't complete fold it in half and crease it you should be fine. Doing the fold/crease might snap the circuits, but a simple bend shouldn't do anything. And they seem to be fairly accurate to me. My posted time is usually pretty gosh darn close to the clock and to my forerunner.

My major beef with em is that they aren't reusable, and seem to be terrible for the environment. One race I did claimed to have recycling for it, but I never saw em. The ChampionChips were reusable at least. I try to make my running low impact, using reusable stuff when possible, making sure my trash makes it in a can (I have carried empty cups for a few miles before) so it just pains me on a personal level.

I don't think race bibs are recyclable - aren't they Tyvek? I save all of mine anyway. I just stick them in a file folder with the date and my time on the back. So I guess they stay out of the waste stream that way. Races do a good job of cleaning up cups - or else they wont be allowed to run them again, so there is really nothing wrong with tossing it to the side of the road.

6.6 miles tonight.

Now you all know I don't run with an iPod (or any other music) but for some reason I kept hearing Guns n' Roses "November Rain" in my head

Gee, I wonder why the words "in a cold November rain" seemed to come to mind :D

You are running the that November Rain that was on me yesterday here in Birmingham. I hate to say it, but I was singing some Ozzy, not GnR

:D

3 Miles tonight. It was in a 8-8:15 per mile speed (so says the internal speedometer). Getting ready for my Vulcan Run 10K Saturday in a cool 30 degree morning.

Thanks Steve. Luckily I am familiar with all the terrain since it has some elevation changes up in the hills of Red Mountain here in Birmingham.

It is funny how between 3-6 miles if like routine for my weekly/weekend runs normal week in and week out but you but that 6 miles in a "race" organized event and Im all nervous. I have had some dreams at night this week that my legs quit moving or they turned into lead. Weird night terrors. :lookaroun

That might be a sign for me to just go run it and have fun. Dont look at my watch.

Yeah I think that's definitely a sign. You are fully prepared so it's no problem, you'll do great. Let us know how it goes.

I get sort of the same way. I work my way into a run. I walk around my house for a bit, fidget with my shoes, look at some things outside, and then when I am good and ready - I start.

I would not say I get nervous at races, but I don't like the fact that I have to start when they tell me, not when I am ready.

Minds are interesting things the way they work sometimes.

Will do Steve. I just wanted to report my bib number. It is 478. I know that doesnt seem like anything special, but the number "47" pops into my life all the time. Not sure why. Here it is again. Yes, I know, it isnt just 47, but it is there.

:D I just get the simple pleasures and humor in life sometimes.

That might be it Dave. How many time have I gone out and run 6 miles, but, this one is timed, in front of a crowd, with some of my peers there and I want to do well.

Let me pass along a little something my dad use to tell me that I just thought of. I feel better already. He use to say, "Son. You nervous? Well, that is ok. If you werent a little nervous for the ballgame today then something is wrong with you."

It always made it "ok" to be nervous.

19.01 miles today. My Nathan race vest came yesterday (early bday present from Mrs. Donald Duck) and so I took it out on my run. I absolutely love it. 2 litres of water, bite valve is nice, lots of adjustments straps/points to disperse the weight, light and breathable, doesn't bounce AT ALL. the front pockets are placed right where my hands stay when running, so grabbing gels or granola bars or the darn cell, is idiot proof without having to stop or take eyes off of where you're going. Back pocket is great for extra food or socks or whatever. My old fuel belt was so annoying, but with the Nathan, I don't even realize its on me.

After 19.01 miles, it's Donald Duck approved!

I like the prayer flags above the stove.

Oh... we are supposedly looking at your vest. The vest looks cool Nick. Thanks for the review. Glad you like it.
