I have not been able to read this entire thread, so my apologies if this is a repeat question or repeat info.

The MICECHAT WDW board is reporting that the JC will be closed most of 2010. And that a large (ala SW, Mansion, HoP, Pirates) redo of the JC is in store for next year. it makes sense considering once you add in Space Mt most all of the major E-Tickets at the MK have been upgraded over the last several years.

Just before this one spirals out of control -- think more" SM scale refurb" than "HM scale" if anything should happen,

I hope when it reopens you can get the elephants to spray water via text message.

Shhh.... Knowing how the mouse likes to separate tourists from their money, if they did something like this it would come with a nice 99 cent per text premium.
Just like voting for AI on tv.

what can you say, the new Fantasyland is going to be expensive and it isn't like guest spending is at an all time high right now.

I don't think mine is the extreme minority opinion, but it seems to me no matter how much money you throw at Jungle Cruise, it is still going to be a slow boat ride looking at fake animals while hearing a lot of corny jokes.

Right now, I'd much rather see Disney do a Space Mountain type refurb at Jungle Cruise and spend the real money on making the new Fantasyland attractions something to "wow" people for the next 40 years.

Fland and refurbs are on different budgets.

And believe me, the plans for JC were terrific.:brick:

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
Well... I had a feeling that was going to happen. :(

I kinda figued this ginormus refurb that "insiders" have been talking about for the past 3 years... just wasnt going to happen. At least NOT on/of the scale these "insiders" have been raving about.

Either way... at least its going to get some love and care. :king::D

From what I was told. But they're a fairly inexpensive add, so maybe they'll still make it through.
Well, that's a plus! :D

Nice effect, too.

I agree in a way. What more can they do in JC?

Sean...? :D

I think JC is just a microcosm of folks being overwhelmed with the enormity of WDW and the cost of their vacations. They have too much to do (maybe not at MK, but doncha know WDW is all about four parks!) ... I know I'll get flamed for this (but we also know I couldn't care less) but in my very anecdotal but very experienced opinion, people don't seem to enjoy WDW like they once did. I see lots of folks who look absolutely miserable there ... not nearly the same as Anaheim, Paris or Hong Kong.

People spend a tremendous amount to visit WDW and then try and do it all. It can't be done, even by us regulars. I think that prevents many folks from sitting back and taking the magic in. It's not so much they don't 'get' JC (although surely some don't) ... it's that they're thinking about how they'll see Fantasmic, use their FP for Peter Pan, get to Ohana for dinner, check out DisneyQuest and schedule two character breakfasts all while the skipper is trying to make sure they get the point in the end about the backside of water while he's pointing out his favorite plants!
I always tell people who ask my advice about WDW to:
1. Plan on going at least for 8 days to see it all
2. Plan , Plan, Plan
3. I tell them this is not a wake up at 10 am, causually stroll over to see Mickey & the Gang; hit a few rides and have dinner in the castle type of vacation.

If you know how to plan it out in advance the MAGIC is overwhelming.
Most important is to know what your getting into (especially during peak times)and have the right outlook & temperment.

If they can't do that themselves; then I tell them to save up another year and add VIP tour guide.

Because...it's true.

And if you get a good one, it makes it one of the best rides in the park.

Because it would destroy the terrific entire family ride that is the Jungle Cruise into yet another kiddy ride. Not too mention the loss of another classic to another needless change.

I'm so happy, as would the majority of guests, that it never happened/won't happen.

this would be hiliarious if they had this guy be your jc skipper for the day on the jc.
Eh..funny.
But, I'd rather have this guy be my skipper:
