You know, you don't have to put anyone in ignore...all you have to do is actually ignore it. I think it is very entertaining that someone is willing to make themselves sound like total idiots just to troll. If they aren't trolling, then perhaps they need to get familiar with whatever topics they choose to jump in on.:geek:

Do you think it's possible that the hat would be re-located to let's say outside the gate, but still kept as the "park icon".

I mean, we can't have the Earful Tower anymore because Disney Springs' new icon is a waterpower. The hatt's pretty iconic, and like the rest of the icons they're simple silhouettes that can be put on napkins unlike the Chinese Theater.

But I do prefer Earful Tower on promotional material.

Not really...you are testing effects you don't have to worry about actors, dialogue, etc.

An effect either works or it doesn't.

You overlook things like timing controls... Ques... The point something that fails you usually try again to sw if its failing once, or consistently, then you try to isolate what failed, the trigger , the effect itself, what part of it failed, etc.

You don't test, isolate and fix things by doing something once.

Well, unless you are one of those types that just say 'its broke' and you go home - and then the people that actually do the work, show up and do all the things you neglected to do.

Testing and verifying any fixes is not a one time thing.

Once a show has run for this long, the bugs have long since been worked out.

There is no test, isolate, remedy.
It's test pass/fail. If a bulb is out....change it. It doesn't take all day.

Like you pointed out earlier, Disneyland manages to do it with a bigger and better show without closing the the ROA all day long for testing.

So, true. The trolls and the fools (I miss Patty Melt desperately) help fill in the months between actual news items of any substance.

Consider the things we have been discussing lately: fat people, movies, GAC abuse, politics .... At least this dude is on topic.

Love the hat, could care less about looking at the Chinese restaurant.

Boy, can't wait to get my picture taken in front of the restaurant, and have all my friends say, did you go to China for vacation!!
So much for culture, history, and intellectual depth. Bring on the capitalist marketing icon. Thank you and your brethren for validating the Honey Boo Boo mindset.

Fantasmic goes through testing during the day so it would be hard to have a show unless it started mid day and ended mid day

OK, so there is some testing. Put in a daytime show that has times of (say) 10:30am, 12:30pm and 2:30pm and you still have plenty of time after 3pm to test for Fantasmic at night.

Yes, it was a joke, kids relate to it as a restaurant. Like you said there is no Chinese restaurant to look at, so why is the Theater so special? The Theater is ugly. Again, it is not an icon. The Theater should be destroyed and something put in it's place.
Really???? Grauman's Chinese Theater is ugly? Maybe so is Independence Hall. Or the Guggenheim Museum of Modern Art in NYC? Grauman's Chinese Theater is an icon of American history. A collectable Disney Pin Shop? Not so much.

But then again, intellectual depth may not be your strong suit.

Life is too short and my time too valuable to waste even a nano second on fools.

Would you be confident in saying that this will happen in 2014?
At this point, the timeline for DHS is very much still being worked out. So, no, not confident in saying anything about 2014, 2015 or 2016 yet. I will say this project will be fast-tracked once it's off and running, as to minimize disruption to the park. I expect it will be a phased redo, meaning the Hat could go at the beginning, middle or end, and also depends on when the entire project starts construction.

Wile I can't say I'd be completely surprised if the Backlot Tour and LMA were around another 4 years, I would be completely surprised if there was actually a 4 year contract for the LMA performers/support staff. No way they lock things in that long.
They don't. Union contracts are longer, but individual show contracts are generally yearly. I don't know the specific circumstances of these particular contracts, however.

And "The Boy Who Lived" will be drinking DHS' milkshake EVERY second DHS is behind construction walls.

Just sayin'.

Ah ok thanks for the insight. I was originally assuming that the "3 month refurb" for Honey I shrunk the kids playland and Backlot tour was an indication that they were going to get started soon but I guess those really are just refurbs.

Thinking about it... the Backlot Tour takes up a significant amount of land. It's conceivable that they could close it down and start construction of Cars on that area while leaving LMA to function for a while.

I just find it hard to see what TDO is going to do with the closures if this "expansion" is going to happen -- if they close IJ/Backlot Tour/LMA plus probably AIE/BatB/VOTLM and even possibly Muppetvision plus stopping the Osborne Lights, then they are just wiping out a massive amount of the things to do in a park with limited attractions to begin with.

They toyed with closing half of Sunshine Plaza in DCA (right down the middle) to do BVS piecemeal . . . too expensive. You want to be able to have the entire site prepped so that you can put down utilities, and get the major structural steel down with minimal hassle.

DHS pulls in about 10 million a year, but that number would plummet if a ton of attractions are closed. Or worse, guests would leave and head scratch about what do with their day and head to Potterland or something, vs. just park hopping.

They are going to have to seriously fast track attractions and stagger the closures to make it work.

Don't see a way to make it work with Carsland built inside DHS. LMA is relatively new, apparently popular with WDW's clientele, and with the economy recovering, WDW hit record attendance. There were plans for building a parking garage in the parking lot, and putting Carsland (or whatever addition have you) in part of the parking lot. Personally, I'd go with build an small underpass for trams to park cars in the space across World Drive. heckuva lot cheaper than building a parking garage.

Build a ride in Soundstage 1 immediately. Whether it's the Monsters Inc coaster or something else, it is space that can be utilized for a new attraction without shutting down an existing attraction.

I could see them taking about "a" attraction i.e. Backlot, and using the area plus Soundstage 1 for an attraction. Soundstage 1 isn't that big, Toy Story Mania is a very space friendly attraction . . . but I'd hope the next Pixar attraction doesn't rely on screens.

I have one tiny little question. Is it possible for TDO to put half of DHS behind construction walls while Universal Orlando Resort opens The Wizarding World of J. K. Rowling: Diagon Alley without anyone noticing?

Ummmm....my guess is NO!

I don't know. Could be refurbs, could be placeholders that could turn into closings.

Destination channel had on an updated Ultimate Walt Disney World a few weeks ago (includes mention of Avitar Land and footage of FLE and SDMT) and in the beginning when they're showing shots from all the parks, there is NO sign of the BAH and MANY shots of the Earful Tower!

From another perspective, the same question becomes even more pressing, but with an opposite answer:

Whilst UNI opens Diagon Alley, is it possible for TDO to NOT put half of DHS behind construction walls to keep up?
