Upcoming DHS closings ...

Love the hat, could care less about looking at the Chinese restaurant.

Boy, can't wait to get my picture taken in front of the restaurant, and have all my friends say, did you go to China for vacation!!
Stay out of World Showcase then.
Wouldn't want your friends to think you went to: Canada, UK, Norway, China, Japan, Germany, Mexico, Morocco, France or Italy.

Code word for closed.

Sure. 3 months is long enough that people will say "was that ever even open?" ;)

Thinking about it... the Backlot Tour takes up a significant amount of land. It's conceivable that they could close it down and start construction of Cars on that area while leaving LMA to function for a while.

I just find it hard to see what TDO is going to do with the closures if this "expansion" is going to happen -- if they close IJ/Backlot Tour/LMA plus probably AIE/BatB/VOTLM and even possibly Muppetvision plus stopping the Osborne Lights, then they are just wiping out a massive amount of the things to do in a park with limited attractions to begin with. I really would like to hear what the plans are to keep enough stuff open to justify the park admission. They are going to have to seriously fast track attractions and stagger the closures to make it work. To start with, some plans would be obvious to me (but apparently not to Burbank or TDO):

1. Put a show in the Premiere Theater ASAP (move BatB there or bring back Hunchback) while they close Theater of the Stars to put in a new (PatF or Tangled) show. This could be done relatively quickly.
2. Build a ride in Soundstage 1 immediately. Whether it's the Monsters Inc coaster or something else, it is space that can be utilized for a new attraction without shutting down an existing attraction.
3. Build something (Jedi Training Academy?) in Sounds Dangerous immediately. The Jedi sign ups don't have to be in there and it's another empty building that can be used for construction right now without shutting down an existing attraction. The only downside here would be if the want to combine Sounds Dangerous and American Idol into one larger attraction -- but even then, my thought would be to shut down AIE and start building away.

Another option could be to put some sort of a show during the day time in the Fantasmic theater. It's sitting there unused during the day and is potential space to help increase capacity. I'm not sure what would work there, but surely something could be designed.

I have a home video of the show way back at when it was in the Backlot Theater before the new Theater of the Stars was built and the fight ends the same way as it does today, it takes place in front of the castle backdrop, Beast gets stabbed and then Gaston runs off. So unless the change was made only a year or two after it opened, I never remember seeing that version of the fight.

The version that I was referring to was in the Theater of the Stars. Unless I dreamed it.....

Not dismissing your other ideas, but THIS is a great idea.

Yep, I keep coming back to the same issue. There aren't a ton of rides at DHS currently. Some consider it a half day park. The shows take up a lot of time, between sitting and waiting for them to start and the actual shows. If you take away LMA and backlot tour you are taking away probably 1.5 to 2 hours of time depending on how early you get to LMA. That guest time needs to be replaced. Another show would be a good fit as a time eater.

Fantasmic goes through testing during the day so it would be hard to have a show unless it started mid day and ended mid day
How long could it POSSIBLY take to test . No longer than the whole show.

Streamline the testing, it would also save on manhours which the suits would LOVE.

Testing takes 30 minutes (of course show length), but they do a lot of prep work through out the day like testing lights and replacing lights, while also doing other things of that sort.

Your kidding right? This logic is so bad. You could do a test run in the normal run time, but doing anything more than once (you know... To test) obviously longer than doing it in show timing

There is no Chinese restaurant to look at at.

Are you sure that you've even been to Walt Disney World?

Yes, it was a joke, kids relate to it as a restaurant. Like you said there is no Chinese restaurant to look at, so why is the Theater so special? The Theater is ugly. Again, it is not an icon. The Theater should be destroyed and something put in it's place.

Not really...you are testing effects you don't have to worry about actors, dialogue, etc.

An effect either works or it doesn't.

Good god dude...how can anybody relate to it as a restaurant unless they have never been to the park.

You are obviously trolling and I will not respond to you again. Welcome to my ignore list.

I don't even know what to say about this comment. The theater is an iconic symbol of Hollywood. It's the people like you why we are dealing with the BAH in the first place. Ignore list
