Upcoming DHS closings ...

The Almighty Disney playing "Ketchup" is sad and amusing.

Yes, it is. WDW shouldn't let its development be decided by other parks.

WDW can scarcely not respond, but ideally, WDW gets developed according to a master plan based on the strenghts and weaknesses of WDW itself, with a focus on developing the entire resort to a logical plan.

Failing that, panic suits me just fine if it gets dirt moving.

Is it bad I had to reread the post half a dozen times to get what you're talking about?
Bad is in the eyes of the beholder. But you have to admit, a sentence that starts out, "Laying face down on the asphalt, the dictator managed to . . ." could be pure comedy gold. PURE.

OK, there are no "smileys" that convey the spit-take laughter that that last line gave me.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
So.. We finally get Sound Dangerous down. Now we finally get American Idol.

What I don't understand is the Beauty and the Beast show.. I do realize it's play for a ridiculously long time.. But I believe there would be other projects to work on more important than that show. At least it's good! Why not work on Backlot Tour or, in my opinion, Indiana Jones and L!M!A!..

IJ and LMA both don't get as much audience as BatB does. At least the show gets a good audience each time it plays. I've been to Indy and LMA during the October season and they barely get a crowd sometimes. I know that theres barely anyone in the park those days.. but when I go to BatB still I see a huge crowd to see it .-.

Just my personal opinion.. and I wouldn't doubt that some of my facts are wrong considering i haven't been in about a year.

They will most likely move the BAH over to the animation courtyard in front of The Magic of Disney Animation building. They'll then build a bigger BAH in front of the Chinese Theater and put a BAD on top of The Brown Derby. They might also put a BAPH on top of IJESS.

Gah, why do posters like you only have 52 posts!

Yes, people always appreciate other posters when they agree with them. A human frialty.
EPCOT is spared because it still looks divine, even if its attraction roster is a bore nowadays. And the Holly/Sun blvs / Echo Lake area is one of the seven shrines of WDW, one of the best themed areas in any Disney park. So very pleasant, pretty, uplifting. Sheer genius.

What are the other six shrines???

By the way, here's a way to "fix" Animal Kingdom.

Once a show has run for this long, the bugs have long since been worked out.

There is no test, isolate, remedy.
It's test pass/fail. If a bulb is out....change it. It doesn't take all day.z

If you really think this.. you grossly under estimate just how much of a production F! is. Your thinking wouldn't even apply to a stage show.. let alone a integrated live performance like F! that includes stunts, large scale fire effects, pyro effects, lasers, multiple boats, integrated live and pre-recorded performances, etc.

Ponder all the things that need checking to ensure they are still operating as intended.. even after they've been proven to be setup initially (your bug comments)

- stage lifts
- the large puppet/stage figure systems
- lighting controls
- motion controlled light platforms
- audio control systems
- audio playback sources
- fountain systems
- projection systems
- laser systems
- queing
- numerous boats - and their associated bilge, steering, and propulsion systems
- fire effects controls and safety systems (plus staging/fueling)
- pyro effects, controls, and safety systems (plus staging/loading those..)
- actor harness safety systems
- inspections of performance areas for issues/safety problems

And the list goes on.. and this is all regular stuff that must be done all the time to ensure show reliability and safety for the performers. Shows like F! go through hours of prep and inspections by a huge group of Techs. All live performances go through such staging before performers are brought in, but F! takes that to a whole new level because of the # of elements and different technology involved. Even the safety elements alone for pyro and stunts alone require dedicated run-throughs and safety checks before any performance.

This isn't just 'see what bulbs are out'..

I think the point/question still remains as to how such effects are checked/fixed at DL where the Rivers of America are used throughout the day. If they have some system there that works effectively, can't it be used in DHS?

.

They take a few hours before show-time to stage things, as well as do things during 3rd shift. Which is why I think it's feasible to say they don't need the ampitheatre all day to do such checks.. like I said.. work different. But to think it's just 'try things once' and you can do it in less than run-time.. is just turning a blind eye to what happens behind the scenes for such shows.

That pic sums up modern WDW so very well!

I took my seven shrines from my fav Disney blog, Passport To Dreams Old and New. As it turns out, there are not seven, nor are they shrines.

There are however nine shrines of the MK: http://passport2dreams.blogspot.nl/2010/11/nine-magic-kingdom-shrines.html

And she identifies eight 'Great Moments with Mister Linco...erm Moments of Design'. Sunset made it to second place! http://passport2dreams.blogspot.nl/2009/04/eight-great-moments-of-design-at-walt.html

Okay, I give up.

IJESS - Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.

BAPH???

My wife and I just returned from our first trip to Disneyland. After seeing their new show, Mickey and the Magical Map, I am ready to give up the Beauty and the Beast show. I don't necessarily want the California show but one of similar quality would be great. It seamlessly integrates technology, choreography, recorded, and live music from several different Disney films. On our last day, seeing that show was one of our repeats!
