Guys, I hate that everything's "Disney-fied" lately...
When EPCOT Center opened in 1982 they had walking dolls around World Showcase instead of the Fab Five or Princesses they have now. In fact, they purposefully excluded Disney film characters out of the park in favor of these dolls:
And Dreamfinder and Figment:
It didn't take that long for Mickey and his Merry Gang to bleed into EPCOT, because the public hated how Mickey was absent.
It also didn't take long for the dolls to be retired.
But now we have Disney Princesses and Princes and all sorts of Disney characters in the "appropriate" countries of World Showcase...
Tell me how Aladdin is from Morocco. I thought he was from Agrabah....?
On that very point - the version of Disney Aladdin is a actually ... "The Golden Lamp" from the Thousand and One Nights book mashed heavily with the Chinese version of Aladdin. Thus again we have this bizarre mix. If anything he comes from the country that the US hates with a passion.
Talking of strange Disney smashups ... how can an entire Animation Team merge the Roman tale of Hercules with the Greek Herakles to create a bizarre and frightening concoction ... and single handily destroying one of the Classics
