If they just do away with the island stage completely, then we can all just watch each other watching each other.

Talk about your cheap entertainment.

I can see the only entertainment just being the little trivia games and other games CMs play with the guests like they usually do now before Fantasmic. That way, Disney wouldn't have to pay for fireworks while still maintaining a large crowd. ;)

Maybe it's because people are going to Hollywood Studios and expecting it to be like Magic Kingdom: magical, family-friendly, snorting Disney IP like cocaine, sterile, safe, kiddie.

But... How would they think that the name "Hollywood Studios" would be similar to a title such as "Magic Kingdom"??

And honestly if you put it that way then, Beauty and the Beast would fit that category perfectly .-.

Why shouldn't it be "magical" and "family friendly"? While every park should be distinct in execution and theming, I would certainly hope that those are characteristics that would be hallmarks of every Disney park.

I think the adjective that many would argue Disney has moved toward that is NOT ideal is "childish." Thus going from a time where Tower of Terror is a major addition to a time where Under the Sea is a major addition.

I agree. I don't like "childish" orientation as a trend. But "family friendly" should absolutely be a goal and is one of the current problems with DHS.

That said, I don't think there is a problem with the Mermaid ride, only that it isn't truly a major addition. But it's a solid add. A valid complaint about the FLE being "childish" is the Casey Jr splash area or the number of M&G's.

Guys, I hate that everything's "Disney-fied" lately...
When EPCOT Center opened in 1982 they had walking dolls around World Showcase instead of the Fab Five or Princesses they have now. In fact, they purposefully excluded Disney film characters out of the park in favor of these dolls:

And Dreamfinder and Figment:

It didn't take that long for Mickey and his Merry Gang to bleed into EPCOT, because the public hated how Mickey was absent.
It also didn't take long for the dolls to be retired.
But now we have Disney Princesses and Princes and all sorts of Disney characters in the "appropriate" countries of World Showcase...
Tell me how Aladdin is from Morocco. I thought he was from Agrabah....?

They couldnt even bring Figment out for the 30th anniversary day. Seriously, how much would that have cost?

See Epcot Center was alot better when it had it's own unique stuff instead of just generic disney.

DHS is fixed without need for Star Wars or Carsland because now EVERYONE GETS TO WATCH FANTASMIC!1!!!!!!!
MAUAUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

:devilish::devilish::devilish::devilish:

DHS, in a lot of ways, will always be a Frankenstein park. Single attractions added on to improve attendance, with little care about building lands. Look at MK's Tom Swayer Island and Disneyland's TSI on Google Maps, MK has *more* room in the area of Frontierland where F! could've gone, especially if they added steps and improved viewing areas, like in Disneyland. The only reason F! went to DHS was in order to boost attendance, and it makes no sense, IMHO, to build a lame version of the Mark Twain . . .
