Here is a question from a newbie for you folks. When do you think WDI will shut down the Tower to add these new effects and Drop Profile? I am going down the last week of March to the resort, and Tower of Terror is my one of my must-rides, as I've never been able to try it (It wasn't there the last time I went to the Studios..yeah, it was a while ago) and I am hoping they don't shut it down for rehab just before I get there?

According to someone in the know, it will not close.

Can someone explain to me what these "Drop Profiles" are? I'm kinda confused...

I know that the effects will be glow-in-the-dark type effects, but as for the Drop Profiles, I don't what they are... Anyone care to shed some light?

Some info from Studios Central

Currently, there is a new drop sequence program known as Tower4. The drop sequence isn't actually randomly generated. There are four pre-programmed drop profiles (three new ones, and a slightly modified version of the existing "Twice the Fright" profile), and each time a vehicle enters the drop shaft, the ride computer randomly selects one of the four profiles, so it's not like it's actually making up a new ride each time, there are just many to choose from, as opposed to the same one each time.

Someone needs to tell them there's no animatronics in the ride.

And SMELLS?

Yeah. That part I'm not so sure about.:lol: (It's also not relevant to the current conversation, so I've removed it from the quote so as not to overpower the other information)

Finally rode this for the first time in 2008 after I graduated college. I'm sure I'll get level 2'd for this, but I just plain don't like roller coasters, so I was a little iffy when it came to riding the Tower of Terror. Now I'll do it for sure, but generally once is enough for me.

I'm interested in seeing how the changes "feel" when I'm down in December, however. I agree with all those before me who want longer drops; I think it was the tons of short and medium drops that left me feeling like my stomach was in my throat.

This one has me scratching my head. One would think that we would have some idea as to what is being updated, even if we didn't know how they were updating it.
