This is fantastic...I love Disney, but holy schmoly there are some annoying points....

1. Waiting in line for a bus at 1 in the morning for an hour with 3 tired kids and having every scooter riding person pull up and get zipped right on the next bus (even though they're sitting)!!

2. Getting a fastpass, hanging out in that "land" for a time until your fastpass is good, getting in the fastpass line, still waiting 15 minutes,
AND THE RIDE BREAKS DOWN!!

3. Planning your whole week to take advantage of early and late entry times, making reservations around said times, and then having to wait 30 minutes more for your "reservation."

Do you see a theme here....waiting?

4. Sitting your tired rear on the hot pavement for two hours waiting for the parade, and the people who cram themselves on top of you when they show up at the last minute (or shove a trashcan into you for a curbview)!!

5. Getting into the park as the gates open, thinking you know the shortcut to the Toy Story Mania line, and getting blocked by the Disney crew with the big white hands directing you back into the mob!!!

6. Seeing a table open up at a quick service restaurant, running over to claim it (you had been looking!) and having someone else say rude things to you because you got there first!! It makes me crazy!!

7. Thunderstorms on vacation....I'm all about the ponchos, but wind, lightening and icy rain make the EPCOT flower and garden festival rough going!!

8. Character meals involving adults that yell at the characters to get their attention....dont' they know Disney has it all mapped out? Mickey will eventually get to their table...no need to shout!! It's not the Jersey shore, it's Disney!!

9. Groups of loud, uncivilized teenagers that don't realize small ears are listening. Rude, obnoxious teenagers have their place, just not at Disney!!

10. And finally.....waiting two years to go back on Expedition Everest and the Yeti being AWOL!! Are ya' kidding me? It's the best part of the ride!!
Don't tell me he's a mysterious creature that can be seen only by chance.....

Now I'll be looking for a blog to share our top 10 WDW guest triumphs...because that list is endless!!

I understand that this goes the same for some of what I post, but hoe come every time I see you comment it's not positive? You also basically just tryed to start another argument, I never said anything on the internet is true. But if you'd like to compare the amount of all the sites that either speak against or positive of homeschooling, be my guest.....I want to say more but I think I'll stop there.

I consider myself very tolerant and considerate. But I believe at some points -unintentionally of course- I'd be one of those people on the list. It's unavoidable. Sometimes you stop all of a sudden unconsciously. Or perhaps during a show, I forgot to turn off my cellphone. I mean it can happen no matter how careful you are.

I never stop in the middle, I always move to the side of the walkway if we need something out of the bag.

I always move to the end of the seating aisle unless there's nobody else coming after they've closed the doors to whatever show we're in.

I also either switch seats or duck down if there's a child behind me so they can see.

My phone is always on silent because quite honestly, I don't expect any calls on my vacation.

I always ask my kids to walk in a column 2 people wide, so as not to crowd the walkway.

If we show up late for a show or parade(hypothetically speaking), we will find whatever spot we can without disrupting people that were already there.

It's very easy to have perfect or close to perfect etiquette while on vacation, it's just that some people don't care as long as they're having fun. It's a virus that is taking over society, and not just on vacation.

*edit: I forgot that we always make sure that our flash is off when going on any ride.

Trying to teach you a little humility. Learn it and it will take you far. Quit trying to always impress everybody. Admit when you're wrong and people will have more respect for what you say.
As it stands now, people are either annoyed with your self righteous attitude, or they just needle you along for entertainment purposes, trying to get you to defend yourself all the time.

That being said, I'm 51 and have been known to act like I'm 13......

...sooo...tempting....:lookaroun
It's called humor. I have absolutely no problems poking fun at myself, but then I don't have any self esteem issues either.

Everything you learn in life doesn't come out of a book, but you need some life experience to figure that out.
Good luck to you!

This is a great list!!!!

Number 1 is so true. We all do this. We wait in line for the bus. We pray that no scooter shows up (lightning will strike me now I bet). You plan to come early to the park and then...a scooter shows up. Not only that often they do not wait in lines like us. They move to the front. You know we all have been there, when we are waiting, we see a scooter coming and hope the person does not stop at our line. I keep telling myself, I can walk, life is good. Everyday is a struggle for these people. Relax. 10 minutes will not kill you. It is hard however at that place and time.

The problem is you don't know me in person. It's really easy to get in a fight online, but in real life I am a good little boy who does what he's told. :) I am not cocky, and I DO admit that I am wrong when I am, if someone finds making someone mad an entertainment, then that person needs to get a life and do something that'll make a difference. "Hey, there's a guy that's easily mad", you compare me to coppercab on youtube, see if I match up to HIM! I'm just defending myself when I know I'm right, if you tell my I'm wrong I look it up on google and do research and then I know if I'm wrong or right.

not for nothing, but all of these issues really paint the perfect picture of the "annoying guest" family.

we all probably imagine the same people when reading these, i find that hillarious.

I think you've just come up with a brilliant new spin on the Lampoons "Vacation" series... :ROFLOL:

As opposed to what? "Ah New Yorker. Making more sense..." Plenty of variance on our side of "the pond" as well.

And actually, he's Scottish. Quite the difference there......

Well you know, "If it's not Scottish, it's C-R-A-P"... (Mike Myers reference from the 80's) I live with a partial Scot, so it's a running gag in our house, lol...

10) Anyone who is too lazy to read obvious and noticeable signs including but not limited to warnings, rules, and directions.

09) The millions of morons who jump 3 lanes of traffic on WDW property because they haven't the slightest clue where they are going.

08) Obnoxiously loud, completely inconsiderate, non-English speaking guests who annoyingly rant during any and all attractions. Especially fireworks.

07) Anyone who calls The Magic Kingdom "Disney World".

06) Flash photography during an attraction which clearly states prohibition of flash photography.

05) People that blatantly litter and or spit. Especially smokers. (There are thousands of conveniently placed trash recepticals throughout the parks.) This is downright lazy and people should be thrown out for it!

04) Smokers who think that the signs everywhere that read "The Walt Disney World Resort is a smoke free Resort" don't apply to them.

03) Obnoxiously loud, completely inconsiderate guests who annoyingly talk during the Pre-Show of an attraction.

02) Space invaders. People that think they have to be 1/4 inch behind you while in queue for an attraction and insist on constantly bumping into you. Seriously people? There is no need to be crammed all together while in line. I really don't want to smell or touch your gross sweaty body. Space!

01) Disrespectful and ignorant people who walk around like they're at a rap video shoot constantly using profanity and acting like a bunch of monkeys.

Hey fellow Palm Beacher! I was reading your list, laughing, thinking you should visit West Palm, and then noticed where you are from :)
I agree with everything on the list, and have concluded that it must bug us so, because we want to get away from that sort of everyday thing on while on vacation! :ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Interesting idea about listing what I'll call Disney Pet Peeves:

10) People with a look on their face like it's the worst day of their life (come on people...it's WDW). :)
9) Large groups that hibernate in the middle of an entry way or walkway:veryconfu
8) People that complain about the crowds...I guess because they figured no one else was visiting that week.
7) Disrespecting a CM like they have control of your every move. :brick:
6) Those that seemed annoyed by others around them having fun (don't get near our group, because we are always laughing and cutting up).
5) Refusing to discipline and/or control your children :fork:
4) People trying to weasle their way to the front of an entrance, even though everyone will get in for the next showing
3) Complaining about everything, because you don't know how to enjoy life. :(
2) Wearing clothes that not only disrespect those around you, but show disrespect for yourself (not to mention they should be outlawed in most public areas)
1) PEOPLE THAT FORGET THIS IS A VACATION...RELAX...ENJOY YOURSELF...LIFE WILL GO BACK TO THE GRIND SOON ENOUGH...SLOW DOWN AND SMELL THE COFFEE!!! :sohappy:

I have to agree with how rude most of the WDW guests are. In february with my 2 sons I was waiting in line for hotdogs and my 10 year old was only a few feet away from me holding a spot for us to eat but all of a sudden my son walked over to me, our spot to eat was taken by foreigners. My son told me that the man of the group told my son to move and of course he did cause it was an adult that told him to move. As a single mom things like that happen to us all the time. I wanted to say something but I was so mad I would have gotten thrown out of the park.

I'm not saying I don't care how other people feel. I'm just saying the first trip to Disney is a hell of a lot more important and exciting for most people than their 5th or 50th. That's why people act the way they do sometimes... It annoys me when people don't try to put themselves in the other person's shoes to realize that they're just excited. Of course if I was on a ride and someone asked me to stop taking pics or whatever, I would. I just feel like a lot of people in this thread have been so many times they forget how crazy with excitement and wonder people are their first time there.

Buy yourself a camcorder or use the videotaping function of your digital camera!
Flash fotography in the dark rides like PotC will only get you pictures without any atmosphere, even worse in the HM, where most SFX are only working without any light (Pepper Ghost Effect, Singing Busts, the eyes in the staircase etc.). It is not only annoying, selfish and against the rules but it also quite useless.
You can take a lot of interesting videotapes in dark rides without annoying anyone, which are much more close to the real atmosphere than any bad flash pictures.

Hello all,

VERY interesting thread to read. It seems that a lot of the top pet peeves are people who are rude, obnoxious, or just plain mean and disrespectful. Here is my list, in no particular order.

1. People who push and shove their way into a spot to see a parade or show with no consideration for others. - This happens just about anywhere you go, Disney or not.

2. Blatant abuse of Cast Members. - Verbally abusing a Cast Member just because you can't get your way is absolutely PATHETIC. Case in point: Duchess1576's post.

3. Stopping in the middle of traffic. - This is something to be expected from anyone who goes to the MK parks. That being said, show some consideration and at least move to one side or the other.

4. Loud and obnoxious people on a ride/attraction who drown out the music or narration. - VERY common on rides like Small World or the Haunted Mansion. Do us all a favor and SHUT UP

5. Flash Photography. - Look, the technology that exists now should be enough for you to use a camera that doesn't need to flash on rides like the Haunted Mansion. The flashes take away from the overall feel of the attraction and can ruin the experience.

6. People who leave their trash everywhere and have never seen a trash can or what it was designed for. - I have a question: Do you do that at your own home? Don't you think Cast Members have enough work to do? CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! Just because you're on vacation doesn't give you the right to be a slob. Show some manners and consideration.

7. Smoking. - Disney has given smokers a designated area for this. I understand that people have their vices and smoking is one of them. That does NOT entitle you to smoke anywhere in the parks, blow your smoke in other people's direction, or flick the butts on the ground or in the bushes.

8. Needlessly using wheelchairs or scooters. - This is a VERY touchy subject because a lot of people need these and depend on them for mobility. That doesn't give someone who isn't disabled or lazy the right to use them. I think it's wrong for someone to get one just so they can go to the front of a line for an attraction or bus ride.

9. Taking someone's table at a restaurant/diner. - Have people really gotten that lazy that they need to shove a small kid out of the way and take a table that he/she was saving for their parents/ family? I have an idea for anyone who does that. How about if you ask the child if they're saving the table for someone instead of telling them to move. How would you feel if you were a kid and someone did that to you. As a parent, if someone did that to my kid, I would have been arrested for beating the crap out of the person who did it.

10. Flopping onto 2-3 seats on an already overcrowded bus when you only need one. - I have seen this more times than I care to count. This not only happens with kids, but adults as well. As a parent, what kind of example do you set for your kids when you do something like that?

I could go on and on here but I'll stop at 10. Everything I have read on these posts are preventable as long as people have manners and respect. Disney is a vacation spot that people pay a lot of money to go to and have fun. That doesn't mean that you should act better than everyone else and make Cast Members kiss your feet, act obnoxious, or let your kids get out of hand.

The social interaction of attending a school is something that cannot be replaced.

But who says, kids "need" the type of social interactioin they get at a public school!?!

HS kids do not live in bubbles!

Hmm is that why when homeschoolers go to college they end up doing horribly? BTW are you trying to say that someone who goes to a regular school can't do "music" or "karate"? I'm quite confused... :veryconfu

Actually research suggests the complete opposite. But I don't want to start a HS debate. HS kids are no better or no worse than their public school peers. It is just another educational choice... it's always been a choice (although it has only gained popularity in recent years).

I thought they were just a by product of parents who wear tin foil helmets and bubble wrap coats.

Nah, we put away the tin foil helmets... hockey helmets work just as well!

This. Those homeschool kids that you see on tv or may know that are 'weird' are not because they're homeschooled. Its because they're weird! Or their parents are weird. If they went to public school, they'd still be weird. The only difference is they'd be bullied about it.

My girls are homeschooled and they're fine. They're constantly with their friends not only on school outings and trips but also just hanging out as kids.
Everyones argument against homeschoolers is the lack of social interaction; well the parents are the ones responsible for making sure their kids get that if they're going to homeschool.

With the way the public school systems are nowadays with education and the behavior of the kids, if the lack of social interaction is the only argument people can come up with, well then thats pretty lame.

Im with NewfieFAN, Im not saying that one is better than the other; its definitely a choice every parent has to make and see if its good or bad for their kids. But don't be ignorant and say homeschooling is bad or weird or whatever. It obviously works for a lot of families and the kids come out perfectly normal.
