Top 10 WDW Guest Failures

-People who turn around and give you dirty looks at the end of boat rides when your boat hits their boat.

-People who just STOP walking in the middle of the sidewalk.

-When the above happens and people behind me run into me and give me a dirty look for stopping.

-Kids who are let to run around and run into others and the parents are no where around.

-When the above happens and the parents ARE there and don't appologise for their rude kids.

-People who stand up or touch things on Splash Mountain thus causing the ride to stop.

-People behind me in lines that are closer to my back than my shirt is!

- People who push past you to get to a rail or rope to watch fireworks.

Basically, my issues are with the overall rudeness of others. If I am standing at a spot against a rope or fence line to watch fireworks, dont let your kids try to squeeze between me and my wife. If you need to stop, move out of the way or at least look behind you first!

I mean really, did we all fail Kindergarden manners class?!?!?

We had the SAME thing happen! I didn't understand it. The crowd is not that bad to walk out in, and most missed Sorcerer Mickey popping up, which is the BEST part of the show! Couldn't believe after all that waiting to get in that people would walk out and miss the end...

I haven't got a clue how it ended because of the disruption of people walking infront of me! :veryconfu

Homeschoolers are usually more intelligent because they do more work in less amount of time, which leads them into doing karate, music, and other things.

Hmm is that why when homeschoolers go to college they end up doing horribly? BTW are you trying to say that someone who goes to a regular school can't do "music" or "karate"? I'm quite confused... :veryconfu

Here's a couple to add.

First, yesterday, while waiting in line for Toy Story Mania, throughout the very long queue, i saw an empty water bottle, a half empty coke bottle, an empty capri sun pouch and some toy packaging, thrown on the floor and all over the toy displays. seriously people? i finished my bottle of water and held onto the empty bottle for an hour before i got to a trash can, right before i got on the ride. maybe WDW needs to place some trashcans along the way? But still, the thought of littering an attraction, even if it is just the queue, makes me cringe.

Also yesterday, while waiting in line in Adventureland for princess Ariel's appearance, we notice a family of 8 (of our country's finest P.W.T.), a few feet ahead of us, up in arms, ranting and raving, because they apparently didn't know what the word "intermittently" meant. We of course eavesdropped, and heard one of the men yelling at a manager about how his family has been "waiting four hours" there? Highly unlikely. and that they were just told that Ariel was done making appearances that day. It was then 7:00 PM and the women of the group were yelling (literally, yelling, causing a scene) that the brochure said Ariel would be there until 9:00, and "why isn't she here". the poor manager kept apologizing and said there was an entertainment manager on the way. there were about a dozen other people in line, who were perfectly calm and content, including a family with two children under the age of 7, sitting quietly and patiently, who were well in front of the screaming lunatic family. This was all quite entertaining for all of us. When the entertainment manager arrived, i heard him talking to the women (four large, loud women in stretch pants and really bad bleached blonde dye jobs) and overheard one of them yell "they said Ariel wasn't coming out and we've been waiting....blah blah blah...: and the manager says calmly, "who told you that?" women: "a lady!" manager: "what lady? do you have a name?" women: "no." and the manager tells them that Ariel is due to come out at 7:30. but the family continues. they are irate. the man of the family goes on to yell loudly, veins popping out of his forehead, that he wants to see this manager's boss right now, because they shouldn't have to wait another half hour. meanwhile, everyone else in line clearly feels so badly for the manager. but he was great, of course, speaking calmly, nodding, smiling, listening. but the worst of it is, this angry man was yelling things like, " you have ten different girls back there, i'm sure, i don't know why there isn't one out here right now! and NOW all because we are complaining to you, you got a girl dressing up right now, and now we gotta wait longer!!" all in front of small kids!!! everyone else in line was just shaking their heads. i wanted to punch that guy. and the manager just shook his head and said, "no, that is not true. and there is only one Ariel." and smiled. but this guy created such a scene, it was terrible. and then of course, the family got what they wanted when the manager said, "we're going to get you some free passes or something for you to make up for all this" make up for WHAT!? and of course when Ariel came out, she was wonderful, and just before the crazy family was up, the manager whispered to Ariel "these a-holes caused a big commotion, so make sure you're extra nice" or something to that effect, i'm sure. this poor guy. after our turn with Ariel, I told my husband I'd love to shake that guy's hand for being so nice and patient, so, we did. We noticed he was from our neck of the woods in New England and told him he did a great job, and nobody else had any complaints. He was very nice. And as we were talking to him, a man who just left Ariel yelled over to the manager, jokingly, "I waited FIVE HOURS!" and we all just laughed.

I just wanted to tell that story to A.) let out my anger B.) to say how great a job this guy, and all the WDW people do everyday, even with all the crazies they must have to put up with every day. That's all :)

This is a great story. The sad thing, it does not surprise me. My wife and I have this discussion often--Are we now the minority in this country? I mean are the people that are rude, pushy, use of vulgar language, wearing of t-shirts that are questionable now the majority in our country. The people who are soft, say thank yous, please. They are the minority and get pushed aside. It is an interesting question. Big Disney fan, for everything it has to offer. Plus, it is a great place to people watch. Sometimes it is scarey. A day in Disney is like a microcosm of society.
It is great that you said something to the management.

I saw this happen! a guy cut through the line, and when he was in front he just stood up from the chair like he had never been there, put it aaside and went into the ride. CM's should be able to do something about this. If the guy stands up like nothing he clearly doesn't have anything that prevents him from standing in line like the rest of us!

I've been keeping up with this thread primarily for entertainment purposes, not in hopes of picking up anything of major intellectual value. This actually did peak my interest:
"Homeschoolers are usually more intelligent because they do more work in less amount of time, which leads them into doing karate, music, and other things".
I'd like to see some statistics that support your claim that "Homeschoolers are more intelligent".... Than whom, or what? Intelligent, or better educated? You are implying that there is a difference in intellectual ability of people who are home schooled over those who are not. I suggest it's a matter of the parent's ability to teach and the time they have available to devote to teaching.
Next, are they doing more work in less time because they are more intelligent, or because the home schooling curriculum is completed in less time due to fewer pupils and less peripheral subjects. Also this doesn't take into account school supported and sponsored sports activities. By way of example, my daughter, who is 16 and goes to public school has been taking ballet for the past 10 years, the last 4 she has been in the pre-professional program. That's 4 hours a day after school, 5 days a week, and 6 hours on Saturdays unless they are putting on a performance in which case it can be as many as 7 days a week. She's in the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society. Not too bad for a kid not being home schooled.
So anyway, we can start a new thread for you to back up your claims and not hijack this one any longer if you like. Just let me know and I'll be glad to participate.

I'm sorry but I really don't want to argue at the moment. Adieu.

The social interaction of attending a school is something that cannot be replaced.

According to what I see on the news every day, all I need is for my kids to have a gun pulled on them and to get pressured about ______ and whamo, instant school experience.

Well sorry, but when we go next spring, it will be my kids' first time to the park ever and my first time back since '87... I'm sure I'll be guilty of doing some of the things you all are complaining about, especially the flash photography on dark rides thing. I am going to try my best to get good pics without using a flash, but if I can't please don't hate me if I take a couple pics in the ride. :) I might also stop as I'm walking to get a pic of certain things in the park. Although I'm one of those people who would make sure someone wasn't right on my heels when I did it.

Some of these just seem like you guys being a little selfish. Not everyone gets to go to Disney World every single year or even ever. I don't want to annoy people, but you have to remember that for people like me and my family it's our very first BIG vacation; we want pics of everything and I want my kids to be able to see and do everything they want, if possible. :) It's not about trying to get on someone else's nerves or not being considerate; it's about being utterly and completely excited to be there that you aren't really aware that what you're doing may be bothering someone else.

The fact is, you know it does bother people so if you choose to take flash pictures on rides you ARE being selfish and inconsiderate.

You want us to remember that you don't get to go every year and the trip is special for your family but that doesn't make it OK for you to do something clearly against the rules that annoys OTHER families who are there for the 1st - or 50th time who are equally as important as you are.

Not to mention that dark rides hide the mechanics that can take away from the "magic". Using flash shows things you aren't meant to see and you are not getting an accurate representation of the ride. You are seeing the dingy, dirty gears and mechanics and exposing your children and everyone around you to a vision of the ride that is unmagical not to mention irritating.

I'm not trying to start a little war here, I just want you to consider how your actions can effect others before you decide to take flash photos.

There are a lot of talented photographers on the board who may be able to help you take some good pics without using flash. If you are able to adjust the ISO on your camera, put it to the highest setting and you can easily edit out any grainy appearance using basic photo editors.

I'm not saying I don't care how other people feel. I'm just saying the first trip to Disney is a hell of a lot more important and exciting for most people than their 5th or 50th. That's why people act the way they do sometimes... It annoys me when people don't try to put themselves in the other person's shoes to realize that they're just excited. Of course if I was on a ride and someone asked me to stop taking pics or whatever, I would. I just feel like a lot of people in this thread have been so many times they forget how crazy with excitement and wonder people are their first time there.

I just want you to realize that other families will be on their first trip as well and to have someone balatently disregarding rules and doing something extremely annoying might take a bit of the magic away from their vacation.

I hope you have a wonderful trip but not at the expense of others. Imagine if someone decided that since it was their first time at Disney that they could push you out of the way and cut in line in front of you. It may be against the rules and you may find it annoying but it's their first time there so I guess it's OK

I find it a bit ironic that you want others to put themselves in your shoes when all I'm asking is that you do the same.

What is your list of failures for guests, including the themes people complain about on this board?

This is all in good fun, please. No flaming or getting bent out of shape. I just think we are so hard on WDW, what could we do better and do we recognize our own failures?

My Top 10:

10)Slow walkers that walk in the middle of the street and stop suddenly to look at something. Stopping to talk in line and not keeping it moving.
9) People that think their kids are the only people there or their kid matters more than another person. This includes letting kids cut in front of you, parents raising them on their shoulders to block your view, parents letting their kids run wild and run into other guests, stopping rides to take pictures (see this a lot on Snow White and Pooh), etc.

8) Fast Pass hogs (getting 20 for the entire Brazilian group at one time)

7) Complainers - Too hot, too cold, too boring.
6) Walking 5+ people across and blocking the pathway with your enormous party. Really?
5) People that leave fireworks early to "beat the crowds" and end up missing the best part.

4) People that can't appreciate non-thrill seeking rides or enjoy an attraction for what it's supposed to be. I can't tell you how many times i've heard Spaceship Earth is "boring" or that there aren't enough rollercoasters.
3) The Phd in all subjects Disney. Disney can't do anything right for these people. The lines are configured incorrectly. The buses don't run often enough. The food is bad. The rides are subpar. The seating areas are not big enough. The lines move too slowly. This person could optimize everything to make it better.

2) Flash pictures on dark rides (Pirates, HM, Small World, etc).

1) The people that talk as though they could run an $80b company better
