Top 10 WDW Guest Failures

There are probably quite a few but these are the main ones:

:: When someone walking in front of you stops for no apparent reason, and when you then nearly walk into them, they give you a pretty nasty look. How hard is it to take a quick look behind before you stop?

:: Then there are those who walk slower than the speed the earth rotates at...and usually more than 3 abreast.

:: Those who use and abuse ECV's. I spent two weeks at WDW in a wheel chair as i knackered my knee the week before, and it was in a splint, with my leg straight out. The amount of looks i got because i was in a wheelchair and actually had an apparent reason was unreal. I understand a number of people are in the ECVs for genuine medical reasons, but there are an even larger number who aren't. These are the ones whos disability is in seeing nothing wrong with walking parts of the parks and resorts...until it comes to a show, or getting on a bus.

:: Those who breach bus etiquette.
This is anyone who -
> tries to board the bus by the rear doors as people come off, you know the doors marked 'no entry';
> those who try to skip past a long queue of people waiting to board - often those who have just tried the back door;
> those who, when asked, refuse to move to the rear of the bus leaving an 8 foot gap which would easily get another 8 or so people on;
> those who break 'the five seat rule' where they get on using their wheelchair taking up three seats only to go and sit down taking up another two :fork::brick::shrug::zipit:; :confused:
> those who board with a wheelchair and seem to have a family size akin to that of a rabbit;
> those who moan about standing as its unsafe. If it wasn't safe then the buses in disney (and buses / trains / metros everywhere else in the world) would not be certified to allow standing passengers;
> those who get on the bus, ignore the message not to eat or drink and then spill everything over others...when they are standing and do this, you cant say anything as the person obviously doesnt have all their mental faculties.
> those who moan about waiting 20m01sec for a bus yet will queue much longer for rides. Perhaps it would be too much common sense for you to go and speak to one of the drivers or dispatcher and make them aware.
> those who have strollers, and have stood in a long queue but wait until they are trying to board until attempting to fold them down.
> those who do not offer seats to those who could really do with it.

:: Those who breach pool etiquette, mainly those who -
> 'do a german' using just one folded white towel. ('Doing a German' the act of getting to a place first, reserving your place and coming back in a couple of hours.). Thankfully now there are signs if there are towels left like that they'll be cleared. If someone is doing that with their own belongings and going to get something to eat in the resort that isnt a problem. It is if they go off to a park somewhere for a couple hours.
> those who have loud, personal conversations on their mobiles that you really dont want to hear - as they are never very interesting
> those who move the seats by the pool to places where they shouldnt be and then block off the paths

:: Those who come in at the very last moment at parades and fireworks and try to barge in on where you have been sitting for the last couple of hours. When you then have words with these people they immediately look at you as they have no idea what language you are speaking in or the point you are trying to make. It is interesting that it is often those from a particular country of the Commonwealth who all of a sudden can't speak or understand English.

If we decide to sit at Main Street Station and get seats then we move the seats back so I can stretch my legs out (im 6'2) and have a few inches between them and the railings. This way you dont feel as clostrophobic when the masses rush in behind you at 8.59 or 9.59 whenever it may be. Also handy to sit with the tallest at the ends to have the legs against the railings to stop anyone coming in beside or infront of you. If you had young kids and asked then its a different story.

:: On a similar note, those who raise their kids onto their shoulders for stage parades and fireworks. Not everyone can, or is willing as they know it will affect others, to lift their child onto their shoulders. Yes the fireworks are in the sky but its not easy for someone 3-4ft to see over someone who is now 8 foot, or from their angle, the height of the castle.

:: Those who have the dining plan but have no idea what they can get each day, and procede to have an argument with the CSR at the till whilst all of us behind with what was until this point, hot food, try to pay and get to eat it before it gets lukewarm.

:: Those who moan for no real reason . This is typically moaning about something that is beyond the control of Disney or something that they have brought upon themselves.

:: Those who don't plan for that day and then get to the park, just beyond the turnstile and welcome show and STOP. 'Right, (As a few thousand walk by) what are we going to do first'? I mean, seriously, it takes 10 minutes the night before to work out what they want to do the following day.

:: Those who believe that they can use strollers as battering rams to work their way thru a crowd. I fully expect to see one retro-fitted with boadicea spikes or bull bars one of these days. As these are often conveying those who really are a bit too old to be in them, with that weight, you know it when they hit you.

:: Those who lose the heads at thier kids because the whole family is tried and crabbit as the parents have marched them around the parks for a good 10 or 12 hours. It is no fun for anyone doing things that way! And when you get back home you'll feel more tired than you did before you went.

:: Anyone who complains at a CM in an agressive manner because they are unhappy at something beyond the control of that, or any CM. Its raining torrents, there is thunder and lightning so there is no Spectro or Electrical Parade and by shouting at this cast member, they'll actually run the parade for us.

:: "We've paid to come here" - "oooh really? oooft you must be in the minority then! you've also been had by your travel agent if you actually paid, PAID?!? to come here? Surely not!". We had this once a couple years ago when some common type from New York (they were from New York and they were also about as common as you get) came out with those words - when at the pool. They left the pool, clearing the sun loungers of all belongings, so our friends took them. Returning an hour later We got "we've paid to come here" and "we were here before so they are OUR chairs"; "ok, well I wont ask you how much you've paid, but I am guessing that as we are here for two weeks and have come from Scotland, we will have paid more than you. In addition, if your logic is 'weve been here and sat on the seats before then they are ours' we have been two weeks every year since 1996 so everyone that is sat around this pool deck area are actually sitting on OUR seats too". She was soon lost for words.

:: Anyone who doesn't follow published rules.

:: Those who dont actually bother about what their kids are up to and let them do what they please to the annoyance of others.

:: Those who have a competition during a ride or show to see how loud they can get the decibel app on their phone to go.

:: The flash photography thing isn't a huge bugbear of mine, however it is a bit annoying. Just put the camera on its low light / high sensitivity mode or up the iso to its maximum and you wont need a flash. None of the pictures published have been taken with flash.

:: Anyone who refers to the United Kingdom as England.
Brilliant! This one I think covers all of mine too!

I AM a smoker and this probably bothers me the most also.... My husband and I ALWAYS go to the designated area, and ALWAYS use the buttcan. We are glad they have smoking areas and understand that lots of people dont want to be around it. Disney has plenty of areas for smoking and properly putting out cigarette butts. Its not that hard to make your way to one of these areas!!

:sohappy: Thank you! :sohappy: I wish all smokers didn't lack the common courtesy and sense you posses.

Hey fellow Palm Beacher! I was reading your list, laughing, thinking you should visit West Palm, and then noticed where you are from :)
I agree with everything on the list, and have concluded that it must bug us so, because we want to get away from that sort of everyday thing on while on vacation! :ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Hello! YES! Exactly! I understand certain circumstances apply when at WDW, and the fact that humans are humans, but WOW! Some people simply amaze me... :shrug:

P.S. Good to see another Palm Beacher on the forums! :sohappy:

> those who board with a wheelchair and seem to have a family size akin to that of a rabbit;

I know that I've posted on this before, but the number one for me is the people who are really nasty to those who are in a wheel chair and have an issue with getting the chair on the bus, my late sister in law had cancer, and we went every year as a treat to her. The last few years she was in a chair, but had issues getting the chair on the buses, so I'd back the chair in while she stood leaning on my husband ( her brother) The looks we got could have killed and elephant and the comments from the Adults as well as their rude offspring would bring tears to her eyes. Her comment was "no one wants to be able to stand in line more than I do, but I can't and the comments and stares hurt". I'd try to console her but what could I say, without attacking the mouths of the idiots who insulted her. I will never forget the looks or the comments as long as I live.

As I said in my post, I've spent one of our two week holidays at WDW in a wheelchair and going off and on the bus and know full well what it is like. My point there was aimed, as others have also posted so far, at those who seem to take on a group of a dozen or so, including folk they have just got chatting to in the queue - i've seen that a good few times.

The thing that drives me nuts is when smokers act like the rest of the world is an ashtray!!

Yep! Like it is SO much work for them to walk another couple of paces to an ashtray.

And to add to it, I cant stand it when people just flick a cigarette butt down to the ground while its still burning and just leave it there like its no big deal. :hurl: I have nothing against smokers, heck I used to be one my self. :hammer: But its just plain lazy and inconsiderate. :mad:

I have actually seen people do that at a local water park :eek:

In my posting, I mentioned wheelchair and scooter abuses. I have the utmost sympathy for people who have to depend on one for mobility and have no problems with them. I have a problem with people who abuse these things just so they don't have to wait in line because their lazy, selfish, or rude.

Yea. Ive seen it @ Blizzard Beach. If I would have stepped on it, all hell would have broken loose. :fork: What was even more gross, was seeing butts in the lazy river @ Typhoon Lagoon. I do give credit to WDW CMs for doing what they can to encourage guests to use the Designated Smoking Areas by politely telling guests that smoking is prohibited, but I think they should be much more strict. They also do a great job of cleaning up after lazy people. And not just on smokers. Its really sad that WDW has to have dozens of CMs all over the place cleaning up after lazy guests that litter, and cigarette butts are simply gross.

P.S. Its Earth Day! I hope people stop and think before doing something lazy like littering over our planet.

Thanks for sharing. I am so sorry that your sister-in-law had such bad Disney hospitality from other guests. I am also sorry that she is no longer with you. I truly wish that we would all just slow down and allow others to enjoy the parks along with us. It doesn't matter if someone is "faking" an ailment or if they truly need assistance. These individuals should be given the "right of way" because we do not know if they are faking or truly individuals with special needs. We can't always judge an ailment because they aren't always visible to our eyes.

Certain illnesses, like MS, don't always have symptoms. One day you may get around fine. The next day you may not be able to move your legs at all. Don't just rush to the conclusion that someone doesn't need assistance just because they don't always appear to need it. And if someone has special needs, why shouldn't their large family be able to spend the vacation alongside that individual. I wonder how many families of terminally ill children travel together. Would we want a child to be seperated from his family even if his family is large. What if that trip is one of the last trips that child will ever take with his family. Letting 10 people on a bus in front of me isn't going to ruin my day. I don't mean to be depressing but I think it would be better for us to think of things that way when at WDW. Each trip is special to ALL guests and as long as I am not being harmed, I can wait five more minutes for the next bus while a family, whatever the size, boards together with their family member who may need special assistance. I know that I would want the same courtesy extended to me if I were in that situation.
In all of the times that I have given the right of way to a wheelchair after Wishes, I have always been able to exit the park. It doesn't keep me from my activities. I have always been able to board a bus even if someone in a wheelchair is also loaded in that bus. Or...I take the next one. Life won't end because I am "inconvenienced" for a mere 10 seconds. However, feelings of contempt felt by your sis-in-law from other guests left longlasting feelings.

Our frustration for those who "fake" needs could often be misplaced onto those that don't and many of us know just what that feels like. I am not preaching....just speaking from personal experience.

1. the people that think they are the only ones in the park. (a.k.a when they are walking they stop in the middle of the street)

2. the people that wait to look at the menu when its there turn to order instead of looking while they waited.

3. the people that come at the last minute and try to stand in front of you to watch the parade after you've been waiting for forever.

4. the people that try to cut in line...i wasn't born yesterday...I KNOW ALL THE DIFFERENT WAYS TO TRY AND DO THIS!!!

5. the people from other countries that dont know the meaning of a "personal bubble". (it always seems to be the ones that don't believe in deodrant)

6. the people that think that everyone should give up a seat for them just because they are holding something. (for instance...in january some lady was like "theres another one coming that needs a seat")

7. the people that wait in line to see a character and then when its finally their turn, they decided to take out their autograph book and camera...wasting time.

8. the people that don't know what this sentence means "move all the way down in the aisle"

9. people that can't speak english and then get mad because no one can help them.

10. the people that stop right in front of the ride entrance to decide if they really want to go on that ride!!!
