Allright but Disney still bit off more than it could chew with M:S. If they used a bigger budget we would really have been impressed.

Plus that death was due to a pre-existing condition tragically.

Again, something that is true.. and again, happens all over the world.. It is sad when it happens, and I just cannot lay blame to Disney.. even though I hate MS, I cannot say the ride was the cause.. it was the trigger, not the cause... something Disney cannot be held liable for...

Jason, the ride already cost over $100 million.. How much more would they have had to spend??? LOL.. They spent $100 million dollars on a ride that was lackluster... The money could have went to do a better ride.. but, it is what it is...

Did you see what it was originally going to be?

Download Martin's Mission Space tribute. See if you even want to look at M:S again after seeing what was originally planned.

Just gotta step in and say I love M:S. Tons of fun. Ride it every time I go over to Epcot.
Could it have been better? Sure. What ride couldn't be better with a bigger concept and budget?
But me....I like it just fine.

No one can deny MS is only a glorified carni ride... The debate is more along the lines of if it is well themed carni ride that inspires, entertains, and educates, or not.. I say it is nothing more than a glorified carni ride that lacks that touch to make it more than just a carni ride, and it fails to entertain, inspire, and educate... Then again, the only thing it seems to educate people on is whether your body can handle spinning, and if not, how much you'll puke afterward.. :)

Oh my, there is so much wrong with this post it isn't even funny. M:S just a glorified carni ride? Oh boy is that of the mark. That thing is a complete and utter engineering marvel, and there is no doubt about it. See if you can ever watch it while it's running, see how much force it creates, and the brakes working to slow the thing down. You'll never call it a carni ride again.

Agreed. It's technology at it's best.

And all of the things you mentioned can be seen in Martin's tribute...

You M:S haters are nuts. Its a spectacular attraction that was all kinds of fun. Much more exciting than Test Track.
Now, I won't argue that the pavillion as a whole could be done better. I wish it wasn't themed as a training mission but rather themed that you are actually going to Mars and then have all kinds of exhibits on the back end rather than just the kinda silly game they've got.
Oh well, its 3/4 of a great pavillion and a great individual attraction.
Carnival ride...yeah, right! And I'm not even a big defender of Disney's recent track record, but you've got to give them credit when they do something right!

It's rare we agree I guess but this post is perfect. Well said!

You commend Universal right now, and yet their finances are in total ruins. Putting up a new attraction if you have no way of paying for it may not be the best thing to do. You are looking at it in the very simple case of "I want a new attraction, now". Anyone who does that is then great in your view.

You know what is great or all of us....

That Disney did not have that mindset in the early 1950's...
if so there would never have been a Disneyland and we wouldnt be on here right now.

food for thought.

if you build it, they will come

While that's true, a lot has changed in the world of buisness...I don't think that's possible anymore..

Agreed! The concept of capturing a bit of the feeling of what launch and flight would be like is impressive. Always enjoy visiting MS!
