Its extremely rude to call Mr. Iger the Weatherman. You can disagree with his decisions but show respect it is not hard.

No disrespect intended and I don't agree it's rude, after all his 1st job was as a Weatherman. My 1st job was a cook, I don't mind if people call me that. Who knows, after he leaves this gig, maybe he'll go back to his 1st love.

I think the neon kinetic chaos of the current Tomorrowland theme is fine, actually. The problem is that the attractions suck.

I couldn't agree more. In fact, I think Tomorrowland is one of the most asthetically pleasing sections in WDW's MK. The only thing that needs help in terms of theme is continuing the current one farther back, but I don't think it should be changed. It looks beautiful when walking through it, especially at night, but that's just the problem- I walk right through it. Replace embarassing/misplaced attracions like MILF and Stitch and the land as a whole would be in good shape.

It smacks of being rude because the tone and context you are using it in is rude. I understand that you dont agree with what he does but calling him by his name is just basic common manners. I mean it takes less time to write Iger than it does to write the Weatherman.

AVATAR the land? No.
AVATAR the Tommorrowland Pavilion? Hell yes.

This I would be completely behind, and it would fit so well with Tommorrowland, instead of Animal Kingdom.

I don't like the idea behind Avatar, for a lot of reasons, but I too think that wouldn't be a horrible compromise.

In that case how do you ever justify an addition to the park? I know most everything in life comes down to money, but at some point you would have to think they want to add things just to take another leap ahead of the competition.

I think that having tron at dhs would have a larger effect than having it at MK, but it should be built in wdw.

As for TL, it should a look like this:

citypanoramic.jpg

Something that says futuristic but is also scalable for TL.

That would be pretty great. But, it would require a complete redo of TL. I just don't see that happening.

A vertical cityscape would be really difficult to produce. So much money to go vertical. Besides, while I think that image is nice, it is sort of a retro view of the future. I believe some modern cities like Hong Kong and Tokyo look cooler then that today.

Disney has to go in a different direction. If they try to go future again, it will eventually fail.

That has always been a problem. Not that they cannot stay ahead of the game, but to stay there they need to continuously rebuild and reinvest to keep it true to it's name. If Disney is not willing to or able to spend the money to keep tomorrowland a vision of tomorrow, then maybe it is time for a complete change.

I agree that Retro-Future is the best route to go for Tomrrowland (Regardless of the merits of any of these rumors) Retro-future is both futuristic and Timeless, and really you could do anything you wanted with it with very few thematic limitations.

Meh. I gotta chime in as someone with a business degree. At some point, Disney has innovated enough. They can stand to take a back seat while they wait for competitors to catch up to them. Perhaps Universal has done that with HP, and Disney will want to respond to that. (Avatar?) Time will tell.

Said the american automakers to the Japanese...

Walt was in business for 50+ years and never would have succumb to the back seat. That's why Disney is what it is today, that's what will keep it great.

On a side note. I love the notion of MILF (giggity) moving to DHS, along with the rest of the cartoony aspects of TL. Keep your core...SM, AO, COP...and then develop some new legends...I would be against anything Avatar at the MK...Keep that at DHS as well.

They could easily put a Tron overlay on TL without one tron ride, and it would be a vast improvement aesthetically. They could even make Buzz into a build a grid ride, where you point and shoot to create and color "the grid"...when you are done you can get a printout or a "file" of your grid and explore it in 3d on your computer at home.

Speedway needs some love....as a kid, i loved driving cars...but in this day and age, gas powered engines and 60's roadsters are not of the future. If you update it...make it electric (or magnetic), faster, and multilevel...that would eat up more crowd.

Let's see since 2005 what new original ideas for attractions have been announced or built... New Fantasyland - Nope; Toy Story Mania - Nope; The Seas With Nemo & Friends - Nope; Carsland - Nope; Avatarland - Nope; Star Tours 2.0 - Nope; and my favorite Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros - Nope...

100% Agree. :sohappy:
I think this shows short-term thinking instead of investing in the long term. Just look at how timeless HM, SM, BTM, PotC, and most other original MK attractions are. THESE are Disney's signature attractions, the ones everyone thinks about when WDW is mentioned. My vote is for more of these original attractions - starting from scratch and building an entirely immersive environment/story without any preconcieved expectations.

I am so confused why people think Avatar would be a good fit in tomorrow land. For me only a little part of the movie was based on the futuristic technology of the humans. To me it was a lot more about nature and the way the natives interacted with it. I would think Avatar would be a lot more home in adventureland, but thats also just my opinion.

I think I have to agree with you on that. It certainly would be a better fit but getting back to Tomorrowland, I think the only film from Cameron that fits in with Tomorrowland is Aliens. And they have a spot for that already., Stitch.

Don't fix it if it aint broke.

I love the spaceport theme. When they originally redid Tomorrowland in 95, they made it look retro and futuristic. The real problem with it now, it its just "beat up". Instead of totally retheming it, put in a new ride/attraction where Stitch is, spruce up the place, perhaps add some shade (yes there will be trees in the future).

The two big things that could be done are to add a major attraction between Buzz and COP, and second either update or demolish the speedway, its the most delapadated attraction in the park and serves no excitement to anyone.

I love the spaceport theme but disney somewhat messed it up in two ways

1. The theme goes no farther then Rocketower Plaza
2. Rides that have nothing to do with a retro spaceport ( All rides exempt SM and PeopleMover )

Why is it rude?

Also, funny you would talk about showing respect....

Oh i show respect so i have no idea what you are talking about. But let me put it this way. Is it respectful if at a restaurant instead of calling my waiter by name i call him "waiter" in a rude tone? You hate Iger so you like to be rude to him.

I don't know Iger. I have never met him. I can not hate or love him. Also, since I have never spoken to him or interacted with him in anyway, I can not possibly be rude to him.
