The Spirited 11th Hour ...

I get where everything is going for TDS and TDL but it is very odd that they wouldn't mention frozen or alice in the press release. Anybody know why that is?

Could just be because they mentioned them last time, so they might assume people already know about those and only wanted to hear about the newly decided things since then.

Because they're not part of this 5-year capitalization project anymore.

Even though it conflicts with what our host is telling us, that's still my wet blanket guess.

The crude graphic by OLC shows the newly added Theater taking the spot where IASW was supposed to have been relocated. No relo IASW = no Alice expansion (unless IASW gets razed or converted to Alice).

Then look at the official postings by D23 and OLC today.

If Arendelle/Scandinavia were apart of this revised plan, it would be a headlining piece of today's press. Maybe it's still "on", but moved to a 2021-25 timeframe.

Hope I'm wrong.

I think some of the new concept art makes it appear that there won't be much room for where the re-located Dumbo was supposed to go.
And, since Small World isn't moving, will Alice still have enough room to expand...?

The Alice ride/area seemed to me to be predicated on IASW moving.... but the spot where IASW was going to move to is now being allotted to the new theater more of less. I'm very curious as to what happened there because the reports were that IASW had earthquake damage and needed to be fixed so it was sensible to just move it.

I have no inside knowledge and I'm sure there's a willingness to build those rides, but I would suspect that the plans have at least changed.

As for Soarin' in Tokyo, it's going into Mediterranean Harbor, so no it's not taking the expansion pad where Frozen/Scandinavia/North Sea is planned. That's likely still coming, but I too wonder why it wouldn't be announced. Seems like it is at least delayed significantly.

It's worth noting that when first announced in 2014, this stuff was supposed to be completed in 2017 -- now we are looking at 2020 for BatB and later for Frozen and potentially Alice. So, that's 6+ years from construction to completion. It's interesting to note that Avatar was announced in 2011 and will be completed in 2017.... 6 years later.

Could just be because they mentioned them last time, so they might assume people already know about those and only wanted to hear about the newly decided things since then.

The BatB area was mentioned previously though.

Didn't you hint at B&tB coming to DL too before or no?

Reportedly, the Toontown plot is going to go away eventually for a Fantasyland expansion at DL. Would make sense if that use that for the BatB and/or Frozen rides that are going to Tokyo. I do wonder if they would add BoG though in California -- seems like something that Disney would want to copy given the relative lack of table service in DL and the popularity in WDW.

The Motor Boat Cruise area is another possible expansion space.

What was going in the alice area besides the maze? I agree I don't see how alice could work without moving IASW, but it'll be interesting to hear more from the insiders

And yet, with a 2020 opening, it sounds like all the new rides and expansions, in both parks, will all be complete before DHS gets its Star Wars land. How anyone will be able to justify paying the same price to visit WDW for a repeat visit instead of a Tokyo trip, I don't know.

DLR is supposed to get Star Wars area by late 2018 and DHS about 6-12 months later -- which means it should open by the end of 2019. I've gotten the impression that a big part of why Star Wars was moved to the LMA/SoA area for DHS was to get it built and open quicker than previously planned.

went on Jungle Cruise today....had a very cute skipper but she was waaaaaay off script, making her own jokes it seemed like.

During the "backside of water" area, she said "I can tell you how to get free fastpasses", then went silent as the falls were so loud acting like she was talking but couldn't hear her....

BUT she also said after the natives with spears weren't doing anything...."They're frozen, Just like everything else in this park".......wow.

I think the Frozen joke may be a holdover from the Christmas script. I heard it from two different skippers over the holidays. Glad you got a fun skipper, though. They make or break that attraction for sure.

I think a lot of people are jumping to bad conclusions ... and they are doing so over a very positive announcement. I think that speaks volumes of the expectations that fanbois in the USA...

I think that speaks volumes about the fan community in general these days!

I'm very quickly grabbing internet in Hong Kong, but I'm excited to continue on reading everything later.

So Alice at SDL is a thing?

And holy moly am I excited for that B&TB dark ride.

The past 5 or so year frustrating wait for Tokyo to get its act together and do something interesting again was worth it!

Just a Spirited Drive-By ... but I see the crazies in the Disney fanverse (yeah, that is about 91% of the people) talking like they are in the know about the TDR announcements. As usual, they are not.

No, the earlier plans have not been cancelled or replaced. Will they be changed? Likely to some degree, but that hasn't been determined. The Alice E-Ticket for SDL was being cloned here ... the Frozen E-Ticket for TDS was being cloned in DL. Those attractions are still on. So one can/should surmise they will happen in Tokyo.

The BatB area for TDL isn't new. It (as well as the E-Ticket) were always planned. The fleshed out area was always planned. ... Hell, Soarin for TDS has been on the agenda (at least in Burbank) since at least 2007-08.

The only things that are 'new' (or new to me) are the BH6 flat ride, which is what it is and the new Fantasyland Theater venue, which will mean curtains for the 1980s-era Showbase (home to the fan favorite One Man's Dream II, which right now is still better than almost all the 'live' entertainment at WDW!)

I think a lot of people are jumping to bad conclusions ... and they are doing so over a very positive announcement. I think that speaks volumes of the expectations that fanbois in the USA, 99% who will never go to scary Tokyo, have of the resort and the OLC.

Anyone want to talk about how great the Star Wars Launch Bay is? How about anything in Future World? Good ...

Wait do you mean that Disney is planning to clone the SDL Alice ride for Florida? It would be fantastic if true but I would tend to doubt it.
