The Park Formerly Known as Disney's Hollywood Studios? Yep ...

I liked "Frozen" well enough when I first saw it, but when it comes to the parks, I'm getting to the point where I never want to hear that particular "f" word again. And for the record, I like "Tangled" more.

I frankly don't get the hysteria over Frozen, but I'm glad that a Disney animated film has had such phenomenal success. It'd be nice if that success would motivate TDO to build an actual attraction based on it, instead of defacing a perfectly enjoyable and unique ride like Maelstrom, but oh well...

Just posing the question, but couldn't "studios" refer to the actual studio production companies themselves and not just the physical sets and sound stages? MGM, Sony, Pixar, Disney, Lucasfilm, Universal, are all production companies, and if some of those companies products are represented within DHS, could that not be enough for the name "studios"?

That's a very good point!

I've never liked the DHS abbreviation. Reminds me too much of the Department of Health and Human Services or Homeland Security or some other governmental bureaucracy which is not what I want to think of when I am planning a Walt Disney World vacation or planning on shelling out a few Benjamins for one day tickets.

I would have no problem with the page 1 suggestions of the Disney Hollywood Adventure - even if Hollywood is 3,000 miles away. Disney magic and all . . . :cautious:

It would be fun if the word "mystery" was incorporated into the name - not that it will or should happen. The Tower of Terror is mysterious, as are other current and planned attractions. Disney Space Travel and Mystery Park. Oooh, that reminds me of the Orlando Mystery Funhouse. The big sorcerer's hat would fit with that theme. Here is the logo of the long defunct Mystery Funhouse:
th

What's that . . . a sorcerer's hat?!

"Success"? The second movie was a flop. Just so you know. The Muppet area needs to go altogether IMO. I think it'd be a perfect area to put a Frozen attraction in. For one thing, it's enclosed. Imagine walking through DHS during a balmy Orlando day and suddenly coming upon a frozen Arendelle Town Square, with "snow" on the ground, icicles on all of the buildings and a frozen, sparkling fountain. The Imagineers could contrive to make the area a bit colder, and "snow" could fall every now and then, a la Main Street during the Christmas Party. And the theater could be re-themed to a Frozen 3D show, with snow falling inside of the theater, AND it could be downright chilly in there. I think this would be a huge hit, and better use of the area.

Although Magic Kingdom would be a much better place for Frozen. But I don't know if there's any more room out there for a decent-sized attraction.

But the Magic Kingdom doesn't NEED anyther attraction. they are bursting at the seams as it is. they NEED to make attractions in DHS and AK. AND fill in the gaps at EPCOT. I think "Arendale Square" could be charming. We could always shift the Muppets into a kids zone!! I still love the Muppets.

I agree. I think if the Muppets have to stay in DHS (better there than in the Magic Kingdom), then maybe they ought to be a part of Playhouse Disney, or something like that. That show already uses puppets, doesn't it? (I haven't actually seen it myself, but I think it's got puppets). If Playhouse Disney is good enough for Mickey Mouse, it ought to be good enough for Jim Henson's Muppets.

And yes, you're right that DHS needs a Frozen attraction more than MK. Glad you like the "Arendelle Square" idea. I think it would work really well, and the area could handle crowds a lot better than at itty-bitty Norway in Epcot.

You are mistaken here. Disneyland is bursting at the seams with attractions. Magic Kingdom still has plenty of room to expand which it should actually put to use soon. Funny how the smaller park has more to do than its larger sibling.

I think she was speaking more in terms of crowd distribution. Walt Disney World could be well served by moving people away from the Magic Kingdom.

Whatever they decide to call it, I hope it acts as a focus for the "new" direction. This time, it needs to stay somewhat within a stated set of parameters. If the revamp calls for "story" to explain a transition from, say, Star Wars Into a Pixar area, then 10 years down the road, don't throw it away because Disney just bought Honey Boo Boo (the show) and needs a M&G. Keep the possibility of new attractions incorporated in the plans. Allow for things to change, but maintain a cohesive, overall theme or tone, if you will. At least, that's what I'd do. For what that's worth.

I get that but it doesn't mean they shouldn't add anything amazing there out of fear of attracting more people. They should be adding things at the same time as other parks. What do you think would happen if, hypothetically, MK got an E Ticket around the same time DHS got Star Wars Land (which, in this hypothetical situation, has an amazing new ride that blows away both Potter rides and then some)? The bulk of the crowds would most likely be going to see Star Wars and MK gets much needed expanded capacity.
