It should just be called what it is "Disney's triple A HPS" Disney's Attempt at a Harry Potter Swatter.

Pandora will give Potter a run for its money. Pandora at night will be the most breathtaking themed area in Orlando without equal.

Funny how this park is still referred to as " The Studios" in Burbank.

I haven't heard of any kind of name change, but that's a pretty silly subject to bring up when there is a lot more going on for the park itself.

Star Wars.
A Cars ride.
Some Mar.....

Oh my, had to catch myself on that last one.

Peace out.

Just posing the question, but couldn't "studios" refer to the actual studio production companies themselves and not just the physical sets and sound stages? MGM, Sony, Pixar, Disney, Lucasfilm, Universal, are all production companies, and if some of those companies products are represented within DHS, could that not be enough for the name "studios"?

I see what you're saying, but I think Disney built this park as a working studio and that idea still exists as long as "studios" is still attached to it. Disney may be looking to remove that idea from people's expectations by the renaming.

I agree that the original function was not only a theme park, but as a working studio. Perhaps in the rebranding/new direction of the park, the current use of the word "studios" will be clarified, or more likely eliminated. Either way, I was just thinking out loud.

Are people really still coming to the park for a true "working studios" experience? I went to USH in the 80s and DHS in the 90s eager to see that stuff, but I believe cable and the Internet have changed the landscape. Is anyone still amazed at the green screen concept? How about building a set in miniatures to destroy? Especially since so much is done on a computer. Are there that many real tricks anymore, like miniature set? Or is it all computers? At any rate, so many have heard the secrets on a previous visit to a studios park or have seen it on the Discovery Channel. It's not novel anymore. I have to wonder if guests actually feel slighted nowadays.

I do agree that the use is "studios" is still more than adequate for a Hollywoodland upfront, studio-land in the back park. Pixar, Lucas, etc. still make "studios" relevant. It's a variation but no reason to re-brand a 25-year-old concept to the GP. Besides, don't the masses still think everything in entertainment happens in a studio in Hollywood?

Could someone point me to the news item or insider info indicating the name is being changed? I seem to have missed it. (edit - first post on thread was hidden from me, fixed)

This is exactly what they'd be doing. I believe back when they conceptualized DHS/MGM they envisioned bringing park guests into the world of Movie making through demonstrations and nostalgia. It was a great concept, but like with EPCOT's community of tomorrow idea, the plan really didn't mesh well with reality. Here, the reality is the bulk of the guests want excitement. They want to be immersed in pre-developed story lines. Whereas a studio is about creating that story and all the elements behind it.
