The Dark Knight Countdown

Timmay, did you enjoy Miller's Dark Knight Returns?

Very much so. It has been a few years since I have read it, so I may have to give it a go here soon. Again, I don't own the trade, only the original series.

I just watched all of those "Gotham Tonight" spots over at gothamcablenews.com. I think they lifted that idea directly from TDKR.

I'll be giving that another read through soon as well.

How long have you been collecting comics, Timmay?

I completely agree. It would be a mistake to try to make another Batman movie while the current series is so popular. I personally wouldn't be interested in seeing it; I much prefer Nolan's style to Snyder's.

But I have to admit, I would be interested to see what Zack Snyder would do if he were in charge of a batman movie. But with that said, I'd much rather have Nolan.

I think as long as they kept the cast constant, it could work. Otherwise, a total revamp would require some years to pass for audiences to be interested in it.

About 25 years now. Since the early to mid 80's

A few more years than me, cool. Man, I love comics!

I'd like to see a Dark Knight Returns movie I think, but yeah, new cast and all, and wait a bit until after Nolan is done. I think it would look cool though, it has so much potential.

I will be doing my part to ensure TDK gets above the $10 million mark today. I will be seeing it again with my family in a couple of hours.:D

It is officially the top grossing movie of 2008.

Tuesday's figures made that official.
Also, it is #16 all time after Tuesday as well. After Wednesday numbers come in later today, it will probably be #13 all time.

It looks like it will be over $400 million either next Monday of Tuesday...day 18or 19. I was wrong about Titanic, but it sure looks to pass #2 Star Wars' $460million with ease.

Yes, and don't forget...Star Wars' $460 million includes BOTH releases...the original, and the special edition releases. They are lumped together in that $460 million total.

Looks like it's number 1 again :sohappy:
That's awesome. After Friday, it looked like Mummy might take the weekend. I don't get how they can release Sunday box office estimates on Sunday afternoon, though.

On another note: I finally saw it in IMAX last night. The only show not sold out when I went to buy a ticket was the 1 am show, so I went for it. Didn't get home until 4:30, but so worth it.

Yeah, I don't really understand how they release the figures before the bulk of Sunday is over but I'll take the win  I went to see it yesterday at a regular theater and the 3:30pm showing sold out

The figures released are based on the estimates that the individual studios are reporting based on the number of screens and how things went of Friday and Saturday. Fridays, most people are going to the evening shows, so the majority of the Friday totals are going to be from a select target time. Most people are instead going to go on Saturday, when most of the money for the weekend should be made. Then on Sunday, you'll mostly have the matinee crowds and not as much at night because people are going to be working the next day. So they look at how they did on a Friday night, look at Saturday to see if they put up solid numbers and then look at the early returns on Sunday to see how they look and then base the estimate off of that. At least, that's how I would do it if I were trying to come up with numbers that early.
