@MouseDreaming sorry I don't measure but saute 2 pounds ground beef one largish onion finely chopped, a few stalks celery finely chopped and a carrot again minced (in evoo if using lean ground beef) until soft add a couple of tbsps. of garlic finely minced until you can just smell it(don't let it brown), deglaze with dry red wine stir in 3 cans tomato paste let simmer while stirring for a few minutes add 3 cans crushed tomatoes and simmer with one whole carrot until the carrot is soft. remove carrot add salt, pepper and Italian herb blend of choice let simmer 5 more minutes. Depending on brand of tomatoes you may need to add water during the simmering. Hope this helps

@MouseDreaming a few hours 2 to 4 depending on heat level, as low as you can is what I suggest. I also forgot to mention make this in your heaviest pot, I use an enamel coated cast iron one. Le Cruisette or similar will work, also finely chopped chuck will work. Note to self measure and time food then write a cook book

MouseDreaming, if you have a difficult time figuring out all the above, may I offer a simple solution, that works for me (just heat and eat) --

Okay. So there is a lot I need to catch up on but I wanted to share pictures from the long weekend in Virginia. So a mini tr. Yay!
I had classes scheduled that morning so we couldn’t leave until 8:30am. Luckily by the time we got near DC, the loop around it was clear. We didn’t really hit any traffic and made it to Jamestown by noon. That was just in time for lunch so we ate at the cafe in the Settlement Museum. I ate a black bean burger. I swear it is the same type they serve at Chili’s.

The kids ate pizza and a chicken sandwich.
After lunch we headed out toward the area where they have the re-creations of the 3 ships the first settlers came from England on. Saw some pretty flowers along the way and took some pictures. I think @ajrwdwgirl likes peonies, so I got a nice shot of one.

The kids loved this huge world map.

I love all your trip pictures, it looks like you all had a great time. I do LOVE peonies so thanks for those pictures! Our blooming season is really running behind schedule here so it will probably be late June until I see mine bloom.

Don't worry, @MinnieM123 , I am still a jar girl. As a matter of fact, had a jar with meatballs and pasta. And a salad. Just figured we have been having so many rainy days, it might be fun to try on a weekend.

The last time I was in Virginia Beach (I'm assume that is where it is at) it was not to long after a hurricane had gone through and most of the beach had been washed away. The beach ended about 25 feet from the wall. There was a big ship on the horizon that was dredging the ocean bottom and what must have been miles of huge pipe was depositing blackish sand on the beach a little at a time. There were bulldozers spreading that sand in the area of the pipe opening. It took a day in the sun for the sand to lighten up and start looking like sand again. Fascinating to watch but scary to see how one storm can wash away a beach. That was sometime in the mid 1980's.
The sand was definitely not the fine powdery kind I have seen in Hilton Head or on Florida beaches.

Watchin’ the marathon on TBS...!!! :)
I can never resist any of the first 3 original movies, the rest, mostly, meh.
Will watch TFA and Rogue One later.
TFA was the last movie I ever even paid to see in a theater, :cyclops: and I haven’t seen Rogue One yet.
Rogue One was on tv last night. I had never seen it and unfortunately fell asleep at 9:30 last night so didn’t see the ending. I did enjoy what I had seen up to that point though.

That's great!! Did you find out if your DD gets to move up a level or stay in minis?
Well according to my friend, the head coach needs to evaluate the kids. She hasn’t worked with the team at all this year and doesn’t know how the kids deal with being told what to do, how they take corrections, how easy they are to coach. I personally know dd is ready. She is a pretty goal oriented little kid. She is definitely ambitious. Anyway she said final decisions won’t be made until stunt camp which is in 5 or 6 weeks. I also think the head coach knows this woman and I are friendly and won’t want to tell her everything.
