The kids hung out at the beach before we had to do hair and return for dd to compete. So there were some mistakes in their routine that had never been done before. It was the easy stuff like tumbling and their dance. They executed the tough stunts perfectly. I really didn’t expect them to place as high as they did. Once they got to the top 10 and their name hadn’t been called, I was baffled. They did get 6 out of 23 so not too shabby.

The next day was Sunday and it rained so we just packed up and left. Traffic was not terrible. The usual Virginia traffic if you know Virginia. Yuck! And that was all she wrote. :)

Okay. So there is a lot I need to catch up on but I wanted to share pictures from the long weekend in Virginia. So a mini tr. Yay!
I had classes scheduled that morning so we couldn’t leave until 8:30am. Luckily by the time we got near DC, the loop around it was clear. We didn’t really hit any traffic and made it to Jamestown by noon. That was just in time for lunch so we ate at the cafe in the Settlement Museum. I ate a black bean burger. I swear it is the same type they serve at Chili’s.

The kids ate pizza and a chicken sandwich.
After lunch we headed out toward the area where they have the re-creations of the 3 ships the first settlers came from England on. Saw some pretty flowers along the way and took some pictures. I think @ajrwdwgirl likes peonies, so I got a nice shot of one.

The kids loved this huge world map.

That is one of the newer Disney IP (Imagination Park) Stores.
At one point, there was a 5 year plan to renovate all existing Disney Stores (including our now closed Store) to IP, and build all subsequent Stores in the IP format.
The ones they built were not as well-accepted as DCP (Disney Consumer Products) had expected/hoped, so plans were cut back drastically.
The JCP in our mall did, however, get a small Disney boutique section in their toy dept.
Once that happened, we kinda’ figured our Store might be goin’ away at some point in the not-too-distant future.
The IP Stores are nice, but, they’re no “Pink and Green” Store...!!! ;):)

Well, that was AWESOME...!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull:
I opted out of happy hour though, as the firm provided adult beverages at the venue, and I definitely didn’t want to overdo it!
Axes and alcohol...what a combo...!!!!! :eek::cautious::hilarious::D;):)

The “Bad Axes”...

And, finally, “Axellent 80’s”...!!!!!
I don’t look stereotypical 80’s, so much as maybe more like certain 80’s-era film directors...?!!!!! :hilarious:;)

Some of the gang, and some axe throwing...!!! :)

Anyway, all 23 that showed up participated, and I took 3rd place...!!! :)
At first, we all thought our new 5-foot-tall office assistant Haley was gonna’ take us all down, but, unfortunately, she lost steam as things went on. :(
Towards the end, I ended up besting Finn and then Brian, before getting bested by Marvin in the semi final, who then was bested by Cole in the final...!!! :)
I was gettin’ fist bumps and high fives from all the youngsters and they were askin’ me where that all came from...I said ”Hey y’all, I’m old, not dead!!!”...!!!!! :hilarious:

So, for my efforts, I received a $20 gift card for Taco Deli...

And, this awesome axe to practice with for next time...!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious::D;):)

Again, a “totally Axellent ” :hilarious:;) time...!!!!!!!! :)
That is such a different office activity. Pretty cool and odd at the same time. Congrats on 3rd place!

Swedish meatballs, I have eaten a lot of those over the years. Too bad about the green stuff contaminating the plate, also you should have fries with that not an ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes...;)

But I like mash potatoes! and I actually like Romanesco, broccoli, I could have done without the green beans... but the peapods were tasty too! I'm not a big fan of lingon berries, so I could have done without those. Chocolate cake was FABULOUS!

We usually try and get through metro DC and Virginia between 2 and 6 am
I've tried that area on numerous occasions and specifically different times and I am now convinced that there are about a million people that use their cars as home and just circle around the belt-line in a continuous loop! It is always a parking lot, especially that area between DC and Fredericksburg, Va. The only time I was able to shoot through there with any degree of quick progress was on a Sunday Morning heading north. I assume that all of the big wheels in Washington were in church at the time so I took advantage of their holiness to make some time. Other then that I cross over to I-85 in Fredericksberg and bypass that entire area when I can.
