Here we go (and I'm praying that the family I'm talking about is not in this forum)... Five years ago, we took my brother's fiancee (now his wife) with us for her first trip. Another family standing near us at the rope is all dressed in matching T-shirts, and they're acting sooooooooo cheesy! About 10 minutes before opening, they huddle up, put their hands in the circle, and chant "GO TEAM MANNING!" Then, they start buttering up the CM's, who were clearly young and impressionable, to allow them to go first on Space Mountain.

When it's time for the ropes to open, the CM's take Team Manning, holding hands in a line, and demand that we all get in line behind Team Manning, even going so far as to yell at a couple of kids for trying to get ahead of them. The rest of the day, everywhere we turned, Team Manning was kissing up to CM's to curry favor (not to mention how cheesy they acted all day)! It nearly ruined WDW for my brother's fiancee!

I've been there too. You'd think Disney would put extra buses on or something when they know these groups are all staying at the same hotel, using the buses and will all be leaving the same park at the same time.

Personally, I always find it scary when the cheerleading convention hits town. It happened to me first at Universal and they were everywhere, lots of under 10s plastered in layers and layers of make-up and glitter. The horror of it all.

The first day at WDW (AK) they complained about the crowds, the fact that she had to pay out $80 for a new car key, & not having enough spending money to eat at one of the more expensive restaurants we had booked. She rides the rapids ride, gets a little wet (honestly - not very wet at all) AND BUYS A WHOLE OUTFIT AT ONE OF THE SHOPS. The next day, they overslept and we told them we'd meet them at the Studios. (We didn't) We ended up ditching them the rest of the trip. I'll spare you my second story, but it's just as bad.

This is why I insist to my husband that we NEVER travel with friends or family!!! I really just want to get away from them for awhile!:ROFLOL:

Well, not having learned my lesson, here's story #2.... We took my sister and her 2 boys with us in 2006. They were 7 & 8 at the time. They complained (moderately) about the length of the drive. No big deal - here's a game - play it. But once we got there - OMG! They whined, cried, screamed, about EVERYTHING. The 7 year old cried the entire ride of It's a small world - JUST BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T PUT HIM IN THE SEAT HE WANTED. When we got home, I watched our videos of the trip. Both tapes were constantly "T stop that, C quit crying, T behave, C stop whining". THE ENTIRE TRIP. I told them both that the next time we go on a trip with them, they'd be 25 years old.

I guess I still haven't learned my lesson because we invited my brother & his family on the next trip and I don't expect it to be any better! I just want to share the magic!!!

In Sept 07 I went with a girl I was dating at the time. I spent hours, planning it, making our days and adr's planned down to the T. When I gave her her "packet" she was like wow this is so nice I cant believe you made these this nice.

We get to WDW and EVERYDAY "where are we going now"? "Where are we eating today"?

Ontop of that and about 37828474829 things I dont even want to type right now it was just a nightmare being there with someone so clueless and lazy to read something I spent so much time on.

I hope it turns out well for you--maybe they'll be better this time! We actually travel to Disney with my sister and my parents from time to time, but they are all very low maintenance and big Disney fans like us. My in-laws, while good people whom I love, would drive me absolutely insane! We already live near them--I don't want to take them on my "getaway"!

Went to WDW in July, drove down from Illinois. Day before arriving at WDW we visited friends and UCF. As we got to UCF our air conditioner wouldnt work. So we ended up taking in after we got to WDW early one morning. Didnt have the car for 2 days, but that obviously wasnt a problem since we use the buses. A week or so later as we're leaving WDW, our air conditioner wouldnt work. After we had paid $800 for the car dealership to fix it.

Ended up going to a different dealership that was in Orlando. Ended up staying there for about 6-7 hours, they day we're supposed to be leaving. They couldnt fix the air conditioner in any less than 3 business days, and this was on a Friday so we ended up driving all the way from Florida to Illinois in the middle of July, with no air conditioning. Fun car ride let me tell you :dazzle:

You should have made a bunch of cell phone calls so youd have to roll up the windows so you could hear...:drevil:

Just another little story took my parents with us, DS was turning 6 and DD 5 on july 8 & 4 respectively, and my mom and I both share july 7 birthday. Involved mom & dad extensively in the planning, choosing parks, choosing restaurants, we even wore matching shirts on the plane and day 1. Tried to prepare them as best as possible for the heat and humidity, and we didn't go commando like DH & I usually do. (DS & DD were accustomed to commando also - just like good little WDW fans) needless to say, my parents tried their very best and ususally succeeded in convincing the kids they were tired and needed to take naps and breaks. Was really frustrating for us - offered to re-do touring plans to make it easier on mom and dad, but they were just grumpy! Several years later, they went to watch DS wrestle at Disney Duals at Wide World of Sports, and totally embraced the experience & everything Disney! Go figure!

About 2 or 3 years ago we went unknowingly over the "gay-day" weekend or whatever its called. All of the "gay-day" groups were wearing red shirts. My friend and I went to a high school whos colors were red and white, and unfortunatly for us we had on our red football jerseys and had gay men hitting on us the entire day. Not the best day ever!

When my son was two he got croup (for the 1st time) in the middle of the night and for a second or 2 (felt like 10 minutes) he stopped breathing. We went to the emergency room (Disney Mgmt was amazing!) and spent half the night there. When we got back the next morning my son was much better, running around the room like crazy and ran head on into the corner of the night stand. He had an enormous lump on his head. So we took him to the walk-in clinic to make sure he was ok. The Dr. told us he'd be dead already if there was anything wrong. (I almost strangled her for that!!!) Then it turned out that while we were sitting in the waiting room he picked up the flu or some bad stomach virus. He was sick the rest of the trip. It was horrible.

The only positive was that we had such a bad trip that we went down again in December and have gone for Xmas every year since.

I have one, no where near as dramatic as the OPs (ah teenage angst).

We've been "Disneyized" for quite some time now. We have been traveling down to WDW for quite some time now with some friends. Recently, one of the friends started bringing his ONLY child duaghter with him.

All this girl wants to do is stay at the hotel (on site of course :animwink:) and sit by the pool. You mean to tell me that this poor man has spent I don't know how much on park tickets and she is just gonna sit by the pool!

Not to mention that on our final day at Disney (we stayed at Old Key West) we were having breakfast at Olivia's and we were all having a discussion. She suddenly says "Can I say something?" We all thought, sure why not, every one is welcome in the conversation. Well, it turns out she didn't want to join the conversation. She grabs one of the servers and says "Can we get some service here!"

We are all so embarassed. I actually got up and left the table for a good 20+ minutes. I found the woman she had talked to and apologized. She thanked me and said there was no reason to apologize (especially since I wasn't the one who was rude).

Never been so surprised, angry and mortified on one trip to the Happiest Place on Earth.

there was that one time i checked into my room at midnight, pulled down the sheets and found a delicious throw up/diarrhea mixture on the bedsheets :hurl:
