Tan lines or it didn't happen - a (patchy) Mexican Riviera Cruise aboard the Wonder.

Hey my lovelies!

I have a teaser post for you all – it’s a busy week for me with school (three midterms, yucky). Be aware that I’d so much rather recap the trip instead!

Long story short, WONDERful time on our Mexican Riviera cruise. Despite a pesky flu bug and some windy days, the Wonder suited us perfectly. Lauren and I definitely converted Rachael – she’ll be back. The magic is contagious.

We had some awesome servers (Desmond and Monika) and Glen, our stateroom host, was a total lifesaver – not to mention trooper.. our room looked like a bomb shelter. The cast was UNREAL – performers and character interactions.. including a special surprise on the last day that you definitely want to stay tuned for. Lauren and I almost had to be sedated.

The one let down? I miss Captain Henry!

Which shop did you find the charm in, if you don't mind me asking? I'll have to get one for my daughter before we leave for our next cruise in August. And how much did it cost? thanks!

I found it in one on the skip - I think it was Treasure Ketch. You can only get them on the ship and it was 40-45$! Pretty reasonable for these types of charms! There were many more Disney ones, too - I just wanted the DCL exclusive.

Well we don't have anything booked just yet but I have been working with Tammy so we are hoping to book within the next few weeks. I am an extreme over thinker and planner so I wanted to research some things before we took the plunge. Right now our plan is to do 4 nights at WDW at the end of September and then hop on the Fantasy for a 7 night Western cruise. Last month we did our 9th cruise so we are very familiar with cruising but never Disney so this is very exciting for me. I haven't been to WDW in 8 years which is why I am doing so much researching....not to mention having a 2 year old tagging along, so much has changed but it is all very fun and overwhelming at the same time.

I'm originally from CB but yes we do live in Bedford. We just moved into our new house less then a year ago which is in the new subdivision called the Ravines which is only about 5 minutes from The Mount. Good luck with getting in, you will absolutely love living here. I moved up to the city after I graduated from X and I love the city and especially Bedford. Let know if you need any suggestion on a good place to live.

My ship charm is my fav - I have that charm, a shoe charm that my parents got me - it's dangly and it looks like Cinderella's, a heart, and a teacup charm from Carly that I like to pretend is the Mad Tea Party.. makeshift Disney bracelet!

Hello from another fellow nova scotian . Great trip report! I graduated from msvu and it's an awesome school, highly recommend it! We have a trip planned to wdw in September, but maybe the trip after will be a cruise!!

My mother graduated from MSVU as well - so she'd love to see me go. Unfortunately I'm still waiting to hear back and the School Psyc program is teeny =( Crossing my fingers that it works out! Where ya from in NS?

Man, DLST was killer this weekend - I haven't been out inweeks and I was up until 4AM because a certain boy kept drunk dialing me. "I MISSS YOUUUU".

We were flying high at this point – we didn’t know what just happened, really, but we were pretty excited. Lauren was still out, so we left her a note to say we were headed to the Promenade Lounge to do some putting and left our invite directly in the way. I’m sure that the walk to the Promenade Lounge is one that we could have done with our eyes closed by the time we got off the Wonder – we were always there, as you can tell.

I golf frequently during the summer, and Rachael and never held a golf club, so the putting competition proved interesting.

GIVIN ‘ER A GO

THIS IS MY JAM

They did it in rounds, which was kind of painful, but by the third round it was just me and another guy in the final round. The unfortunate thing is that they made us put over the floor – which is just not realistic AT ALL, let’s be real. Anyway, I was VERY CLOSE, but came in second place. But the guy was from California and like, 5 years older than me. Considering his golf season is all year, I say I gave him a run for his money. He's the one leaning against the pillar in the above pictures.

Time to head back to the room to do some packing and prepping – and finally order room service! Lauren was back and not feeling 100% - mostly just tired, so we put on a movie and had some snacks. Rachael ordered a sandwich and I ordered wings – and we both ordered Mickey ice cream sandwiches. We wrote notes to put in with our gratuities and topped them off, despite having prepaid. We had awesome service all trip.

After that, it was time to get ready for the last show/dinner combo of the trip – sad. Hard to believe how fast a week flies by when you’re having a magical vacation. The “farewell” show was pretty cute – Peter was in it again, so we just gushed over his amazingness a little more.

Lauren and I lost Rachael, she went to get the duty free alcohol for her mother, and headed down to watch the Northern Lights for one last time. We took a few pictures along the way as well – Lauren took her big camera out for the occasion.

Animator’s Palate was the restaurant of the night – and fitting, I think. It’s such a cool place. The menu looked promising – and they were cute, on top of everything else!

TILL WE MEET AGAIN

It was time for all the appetizers – you know how we do. I actually tried something totally new for dinner – lamb! It was great, too, so it was definitely a good call. The steak came with these neat potatoes – Rachael asked Pam of she could take a picture.

We also got our standard 5 desserts – Lauren and I shared the Baked Alaska, which I’d never had before. Nothing special? The sponge cake was really good, and I feel like if the slice had been thicker I probably would have been all about it. The Celebration Cake was definitely something to try though, yummy.

The flag parade was also a nice touch – it’s so cool to see how far everyone comes to work for Disney. It’s definitely something I’d considering doing – but I’d never be able to serve.. they carry wayyyyy too much stuff and I’m the most accident prone person of life.

We snagged a quick picture with Monika and Desmond – Monika was telling us how Desmond had loved us so much that he was going to be sad to see us go. Love it.

We had to rush out, because it was nearing 9:45PM speedily – off we went to Studio Sea, presented our invite, and walked in to be greeted by… 10 people. Literally. A few more showed up, but we’re talking 15-20 people invited to this thing. What?

Soon enough, we were greeted by some old friends. I’m present to you one of the most magical experiences I’ve ever had with Disney – which is saying something, because let’s be real, I’ve been fortunate enough to have many a magical moment in my life.

We had a really long conversation with him, and I think he was a little shocked that we identified him and loved him so much.

There are so many more, but I won’t post them all. I’m still vibrating about this right now. After, when we were dying of happiness, we realized how big of a deal is was to be invited – there were a few families there, but it was obvious that some of those in attendance were cast members themselves and their families. Someone asked us if Disney had signed us (I wish) – if we’d been invited it was a “huge deal, because it means that the cast wanted us there”. DYING.

We went to watch “Till We Meet Again” after that – AKA where everyone else had to say goodbye to the characters. Obviously we were still dying of happiness and talking about how wonderful everyone was.

The next thing on the agenda was a picture with Alex and Justin! Rachael was still out of the picture, but we wanted to catch them before their set. We had a big chat with them, and they told us to tag them – add on FB and the rest of it. I said that I’d applied to go to University of Toronto and they were all “well if you come we’ll show you around!” – love that!

Our final goal was to grab some pictures with Ariel outside Tritons – something we hadn’t done all week, somehow. There was still glitter on the floor from Till We Meet Again so I did some collecting for potential scapbooking and general joy.

Last night and we were worn out – plus there were still miscellaneous things to pack up in our carry ons, so we headed back up to the room. Lauren and I got there and took a quick picture with our new friend, the turkey –

And realized that we wanted to go for another little walk and snag some drinks before the depression really set in. Off we went to the drink station outside Beach Blanket (sad, no more BB and buffet breakfasts). On the way back, we ran into some rogue 12 year olds that we stopped to chat with – they tried on my heels and ran down the hall in them. It was weird.

Heading to bed, even with a movie on in the background, was definitely bittersweet – but at least we knew that we had another breakfast and shopping to look forward to!
