At first glance, I really like the new name. Sure, I'll still call it MGM, but it's a great name.

Plus, it fits the park as "the Hollywood that never was, and always will be."

Walt Disney Studios has a better ring to it. Disney should have let the public vote for the new name. That would have been cool.

It's an okay name. I think Disney Studios would have been just fine. (not that there any studios there anymore worth talking about.:p )

There, my nitpicking is out of the way. Let the games begin!

I've said it once already in this thread, but the name is growing on me more and more. Hopefully they will build something with the Hollywood sign and yes an outdoor roller coaster in those surroundings would be fantastic. I also think the logo of the park will be important in opinions of the new name as well.

I definitely agree...something that SCREAMS Hollywood would be just the thing for the park.

Although I don't mind the Mickey Sorcerer Hat...it just doesn't make complete sense to me as the park's icon.

All the other parks have fitting icons...why can't MG...er...i mean...the Studios

Especially now with the name change. I also don't mind the hat (especially at night), but man it would be nice to go into the HOLLYWOOD Studios and have an unobstructed view coming down Hollywood Blvd. towards the Chinese Theater.

If money and who knows what else weren't issues:

Why can't the BAH go infront of the entrance to Fantasmic?

Why can't the EarfulTower go outside to the entry plaza to MGM on the large circular flower bed that is out in front of the ticket booth?

WaterTower made alot more sense and still does with the hollywood theme aka hollywood studios watertowers of yesteryear.

It could be repainted with the new parks name, become the icon once again, and the hat would be saved, just moved to a different place, and the chinese theatre becomes in clear view again.

THAT WAY EVERYONE'S HAPPY!!!!!!! :lookaroun

Oh by the way: BAH......Big A** Hat

Thank God I can still call the park MGM for now.....calling it HWD will be weird O_O

Disneys Wonderful World of Empty Soundstages or Disneys half Day Park dosent have the same ring.

New name same limited attractions.
If by empty soundstages, you mean the two little ones that were once part of the walking tour, and Soundstage 1, which is going to be developed into an attraction anyway.

Almost all the buildings you see backstage are in use in some way or another. I'm tired of pointing this out.

Ok so I didn't read ALL 12 pages of this thread (although I did read like 9 of them, haha), so sorry if this had been mentioned already, but if it hasn't......here you go.

What you need to remember is that the new name is not Disney-Hollywood Studios. It's Disney'(S) Hollywood Studios. Just like Animal Kingdom is actually Disney'(S) Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom is Disney'(S) Magic Kingdom. But we all call them Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom, plus the signs in front of those parks also say Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom. So by Disney naming this park Disney's Hollywood Studios the actual name is probably going to be Hollywood Studios. Which I find to be a fantastic and perfect name for what this park represents.

Just my 2 cents.

Well the name change was supose to have changed a few years back,This was about 3 to 5 years back I remember seeing shirts and hats and stuff in one of the shops saying Walt Disney Studios with a mickey and a clip board and asked a Cast member and they said the Name would be changing soon due to the licence agreement ending. But it seemed to be extended due to it not changing untill Now. That might be Due to the fact that MGM/ United Artists Picture Studios were bought out By Sony Picture Entertainment in the past year. I am just glad it wasn't changed to something with Pixars name since they are intergrating alot of Pixars Stuff in all the Parks

^^I'm pretty sure that I have some merchandise such as what's described above, just Disney Studios.

My DH is also convinced that the "value" of his Disney-MGM Studios varsity jacket just went up. :p (wool jacket/leather sleeves, purchased on clearance for $29)

Actually its all a part of YOAMD. Some random kid dreamed "I wish this park was called 'Disney's Hollywood Studios.'" And this is the result. I told you YOAMD was a bad idea!

Now, I'm loading up my guns and ammunition to blow that kid's brains out. Anyone wanna come?

Interesting...I don't see the point of changing it personally and will continue to call it MGM I imagine. Like others said just can't see myself saying "lets go to Disney's Hollywood Studios or DHS!" I don't see the point to changing it.

By them changing the name to include the word hollywood it really opens up there options for what they can include. From music, to movies, and really anything from the whole hollywood theme. In my book this is always more betterer.

Whats the difference between calling is MGM or DHS? Both short three work acronyms, one day when my some will be my age (20 years from now) he will be calling it DHS. Times are a changing, but for the better.

Exactly...it seems to open things up way more.

Oh...I like! :D

Edit: although, now when I look at it...it looks like a knock off of Hollywood Video...that might not work. But I still like it.
