And nothing of value was lost.

Also, anyone who thinks Stitch was intended to be a franchise in the first place is fooling themselves. They only started milking Stitch once they found the movie to be an unexpected hit. I mean, it was a quirky low budget film that probably wasn't expected to do NEARLY as well as it ended up doing.

Think for yourselfer
Keep Stitch out of MK. He is not a classic character, he is not even a particularly like-able one. I hope they do not add benches and shade, that will just make it worse. I love MK, but people are right, it is being geared heavily towards 5 y/os. Disney is supposed to be enjoyable for everyone in the family, not just the youngest members. I wouldn't mind closing up MILF or SGE as well, we know WDI can do better, just look at some of the rides they have designed around the world recently.

I don't mind a stitch attraction. He's liked by a lot of people. However I think that there's been a bit of overkill of Stitch. I mean is he really popular enough to deserve two shows right next to each other? And never mind that neither one of them are popular, not because they have stitch (His animatronic is the only redeeming thing in SGE), but because they're awful experiences. Give Stitch a good show or ride and then leave it at that.

jt,

I guess I just don't get all the stitch bashing

I didn't see it as Disney trying to be hip or edgy, I saw it as 'Hey, we've had a some clunkers, so let's give this guy a shot with something completely different.'

That movie had more originality, heart and story than a lot of what they had turned out, and still turn out to some degree.

My first post wasn't meant to be taken as an emotional rant or whatever, it just rubs me raw the way some folks read the word stitch and just brush him off as that crazy alien character who Disney completely over uses.

Cheers!

Agreed completely, and judging by the 85% approval rating on RT and the box office numbers most people have 0 issue with him begin a Disney character.

Must all Disney artists conform to a "house style" of thinking? What a dreadful thought that is. Creativity and originality should be nurtured in a creative industry like Disney not stranglehold in some attempt to fit a kind of thinking that might be dated or stale.

Lilo and Stitch still showed audiences about the importance of family, caring and love and good over evil, but did it with a superb character arc, a unique setting and without some lackluster song score and sickly schmaltz.

I've got to imagine that its the hope that every Disney film ever becomes a franchise. Studios want every film ever to become a franchise.

This continues to show how out of touch Disney Management is with its population. A show in the middle of Tomorrowland in Florida where the average temp is 100 in the shade. Oh and lets have them standing there and watch the show with no covering.

Epic Fail....just one of many. And dont get me started on Pleasure Island. :zipit: Maybe what needs to happen is some changes in Management!!!!!

Agreed! Guest would never line up during the hottest part of the day for shows and entertainment without shade and benches. They should have known that by now just from the castle sho... oh wait, how about the three o'clock parade? No, that doesn't work either. Hmm, it looks like people have been lining up for years without shade and benches. Can't imagine why they wouldn't for this Stitch show.

So they build a stage for 3 months to run a show for 2 months. So where did you hear this then? Seems like BS.

Low budget? Stitch's budget was $80 million per boxofficemojo.com. Compare that to The Lion King at $45 million, Aladdin at $28 million or Toy Story 2 at $90 million...

I agree.

But I also had another thought... Do they just not care about the whole "two places at one time" thing with regard to characters anymore? I mean, fairly often each day, kids would see Stitch inside SGE... Then walk outside and instantly see Stitch on stage in TL.

That stuff bothers me. I thought they thought about those things. Or at least USED to.

Please disnyfan89 continue to support bad decisions! So when lets say they remove COP or refuse to build another country in EPCOT then you can continue to wave and just accept everything that is given to you.

Compare that too $100 million Hunchback, $120 million Atlantis, and $140 million Treasure Planet. Not so big now is it? Also Aladdin was released some 10 years before Stitch and that's not adjusting for inflation.

Also, anyone else find it funny how in just 2 years time, Disney managed to more than double the production costs of one of their animated features? Opening up a studio in France boosted the costs and the constant push to have 1 animated movie a year no matter how many studios were open was one of the many examples of how Disney animation was mishandled following Lion King's success.

On the other hand Anastasia made by 1 animation studio cost just $50 million to make despite the elaborate production values, filmed in a CinemaScope ratio, showing how badly Disney blew money on some of their films.

Princess and the Frog now has an $80 million budget too which I think is much more reasonable (compared to Up's $175 million budget) and will make it easier to turn a profit.

An update-

The current form of the Stitch's Supersonic Celebration is gone and will not be coming back. I have heard a new show may come and that may include Stitch. Another possible option might include a dance party at night.

And I would also look for some benches and shade to be put in before a new show opens.

If this is indeed true, this is pretty incredible considering the state that Tomorrowland is currently in. For them to shut something down this new with so little around it open.......I really don't know what to say. I do think this show was an improvement over SGE, but the changes made to the Galaxy Palace theater would be considered an upgrade over SGE ;)

Maybe Tomorrowland has to hit rock bottom before it can be great again.
