Star Tours II - Ride reviews

No I am actually upset by their oversight. I am traveling to Florida this May for a 2 night trip. My main focus of riding the attraction was to see my favorite characters come to life(specifically Yoda). 3-D tends to make me queasy after a bit, and the thought of riding this attraction multiple times without getting to see what I want just does not sound like fun.

If every single character was paraded out in every scenario it would be a mess. It's not an oversight, it's common sense.

I went on it 3 times in a row yesterday morning and it was plenty of fun to me and all the other guests I saw doing the same thing.

Your weak stomach isn't Disney's problem.

Yep, in this topic, "lazy Imagineering" is "not designing an attraction to specifically cater to me."

Which is senseless to the point that I'm still pretty sure it's not serious.

I am pretty sure more people than just me, will expect to see Vader on every ride(especially since he is on the poster outside the attraction).

Does anyone know yet how the "spy" is chosen? I imagine the CM must do it right before beginning the ride, since someone must also tell the computer if it is a "he" or "she" (I doubt they'd trust a computer to recognize the gender, or determine if the photo is family-friendly)

I can't remember if the photo of the spy has their 3D glasses on or not. Since the cabin lights are dimmed right after the CM instructs you to put on your glasses, I imagine the photo is snapped while the lights are still full.

On my 3 rides, I always got the Millenium Falcon opening. Does the Darth Vader opening also use the robotic "camera" to look for the spy?

Why do you feel the need to be so rude to other members on this forum?

A friend of mine rode it a few days ago. Never said anything like this. Said it was awesome. I am sure, as with all rides, you will have people that will feel sick, but not wide spread.

We will all find out soon enough.

You have to ride again and find out... You had a rebel spy in your speeder? I won't tell the empire if you don't...

The 3-D effects weren't designed like most 3-D attractions. It's not gimmicky at all, just there to enhance the visuals, which is exactly what it does with the exception of one effect in one of the endings...that's just awesome. I will say no more...

Only got a chance to ride it once on Monday, but it's safe to say the Studios now has 4 headlining attractions. I'd give it a solid A grade, and I wasn't much of a Star Tours fan before (I liked it, but I could take it or leave it). This should draw some crowds away from TSM in the mornings.

Reminds me of a CM - guest interaction I witnessed early one morning at DHS in 2010:

Lady: Is there where I get the FastPasses for STAR TOURS?

CM: Yes, but don't get one. Go over to TOY STORY MANIA. Now. Before it's too late. I beg of you!

I suspect this sort of conversation won't be happening at STAR TOURS for a while :)

Is this a case of more work being necessary in Disneyland, or is it a case of corners being cut in DHS?

It's not the ride itself that they did more work on in Disneyland, it's the outside of the building which received a complete face lift as did the adjacent Star Traders store.

In DHS they left the external building alone for the most part. The ride itself is probably identical at both parks.
