And contrary to your assertion, this is a news story, not an opinion piece. Most people recognize that the many cold and hard facts in the article make that abundantly clear. Aside from the fact that the subheading at the top of the article states in bold red letters, "NEWS".
You seem to disagree with the facts presented and you feel entitled to make up your own facts and call the article an "opinion piece". That is a common tactic of the alternative right.
