Indeed. Some say yes, some say no. If they did happen expect them to look like the new Matterhorn prototype.

Except Matterhorn is not getting new trains. The decision was made instead to retrofit the existing trains with seat belts that cannot be unlocked during the course of the ride (think Tower, Indy, Star Tours, etc).

I think what Martin was getting at was that any new Space trains would likely be based on that prototype that was built for Matterhorn. (like in my magnificent concept rendering above:lookaroun)

I rode in the back with a friend of mine and between that and space mountain I had to tell her that it was going to be her and Disneys fault that I couldnt reproduce. Of course when I said that I felt the whole world rejoice a little bit, but thats another story.

It is good to hear that WDW will still have inline seating. I guess I kind of assumed that anyway when the news came out that they were planning on only replacing some of the track (thankfully it is all the track now). There would probably be a disaster in the making if they added the heavier and larger double wide cars to any of the existing infrastructure.

As opposed to the current iasw boats that look lost from Fisher Price's outdoor play house sets? Maybe they got a 2 for 1 deal when they bought the laugh floor seats

Why not just take the trains that are currently on WDW's space and give it to them to modify to look a little more like bobsleds... then give us new trains :lol: it would probably make it a better experience as well for both...

Completely different track that the trains run on. Plus since Matterhorn isn't GETTING new trains, they didn't make the whole fleet of them beyond the prototype.

So they are giving the matterhorn WDW's SM rockets and SM is getting new rockets? If so, that's great! I've always hated the sitting on a persons lap seat configuration of the matterhorn sleds.

I was thinking historicaly. They did something like that years ago.

i dont ride Space Mountain...but Ive waited in line with my friends before and the cars look very cramped....

maybe if SM gets new cars they will have a bit more room.
