And the launch just doesn't do it for me after being launched twice the speed of RNRC on Kingda Ka.
Talk about a short ride, Kingda Ka....short. Makes Xcelerator feel like an epic.
Of course by short, I mean in duration and not height. Sucker's kinda tall.:lookaroun

Oh yea, I know it's a short ride, but my wait to get on it wasn't. I'm from a half hour away from Great Adventure and it took me 2 years to get on the freaking thing. I went 6 times the year it opened, and it was 101 each time.

Now El Toro, that is a coaster. And I can't wait to see what they're doing to Medusa. I've heard fire, water, mist, and a soundtrack.

:lookaroun

Now back to your regularly scheduled Space Mountain thread.

*sigh*
And Disney can't get Everest up to 100%

I know right?

But I mean let's be serious, it is 6 Flags. The music will probably be consistent, but the other effects will probably last just as long as Everest's...so a couple months maybe?

*way off topic*
Medusa is going to a Superman-ish theme, no? It seems to be linked to the Superman at SFNE's makeover. Lex Luthor and all that...

Yea, I've been following the viral. Seems like it will be going that way. I just hope they don't call it Lex Luthor or something lame like that.

I would hope for a Darkseid theme. That would be cool.

...I may start a rollercoaster appreciation thread in Chit Chat...

Since we all like off-topic posts so much (:)) I'll chime in.

Why in the blue hell are they building a Terminator: Salvation roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain...and its a WOODEN roller coaster? Don't get me wrong, I actually prefer wooden coasters when they are done well, but what the hey does Terminator have to do with wood?

I've been on literally 700 different coasters and Xcelerator happens to be my favorite. So WATCH IT, LEE! :fork:

Completely different track that the trains run on. Plus since Matterhorn isn't GETTING new trains, they didn't make the whole fleet of them beyond the prototype.

As lee said, it happened before. I remember hearing that the original space rockets (which were lap seating with belts) were "donated" to DL to replace their oldr cars, and Given the fact there is that rumor D.O.S.H. wants them to have some king of lap bar or locking mechanism... it would be perfect to give them another set of hand me downs to modify and fix:drevil:

Why didn't they leave it with the peppers WHY!???
Because of money and Rockin' Both Parks failed to attract the locals... They "could" do Rockin' Space Mountain during Grad Nights if they wanted... but general day guests didn't like it.

It hasn't happened before. SIMILIAR STYLE trains were implemented.

Besides, Matterhorn is not getting lapbars, so that throws your whole theory out the window to begin with. They're getting new seatbelts in the existing trains.

You sure? That whole story about the old SM rockets going to Matterhorn years ago and being refurbished to be bobsleds is false?
Wow. I've heard that for so long I've assumed it was true.

They're COMPLETELY different track styles. There's no way you could just plop a train from another coaster onto it. That would be like taking a train from Hulk and plopping it down on Everest because they're both steel coasters. The wheel configurations are totally different between the two rides. There's no way to attach it to a different style track.

And I looked into it with a source at the park - it's never been done. The trains have been based on eachother, sure, because they're both inline seating. But never have they been swapped out.

I thank you sir. You are indeed a font of knowledge.
I have heard that story for more than 10 years, and just assumed they took the old SM bodies and replaced the bogies, wheels, etc.
Good to know.

If you think about it, they'd need to completely remold the bodies for even that to work since they ahd the rocket jets on the backs of them.

Now you see Lee? This is why I am profound. :king:
