Soarin' movie to change to a global theme?

While world would fit in with the World Showcase, and I agree that CA should remain at DCA, why not a Soarin' over the US....or even do both US and World, then alternate...not that I'm greedy or anything... :o

Without a doubt, just like the current one ends at Disneyland, I would want the new film to end at EPCOT! Imagine coming in over the Monorail beam, swooping around the side of Spaceship Earth into Future World, and then finishing over World Showcase during IllumiNations!

:sohappy:

Ooooooh, that'd be good!!! I like (love) Soarin' but I would welcome a new one as well!

Well now that you mention it...

I did hear from a CM a Disneyland last year who claimed that his brother worked for TPP. According to him, the finale would be a flyover of World Showcase from the south during IllumiNations, past Future World, then continuing north to the Magic Kingdom during Wishes.

Take it all with a grain of salt (like I did), but I do think it's worth noting.

So are you saying that flying over all the areas in California are not natural wonders too, they certainly aren't manmade or fake. I happen to really like the film, it's very diversified and think amazing that all that can be located in one state.

They could re-use some of that footage, but a world view would be far more spectacular.

If they did this at EPCOT, it'd be great, but I really don't want to see the current film leave California Adventure. It's just too good. And can you imagine the ride without that amazing theme by Jerry Goldsmith?

I feel confident that Mr. Goldsmith could whip up a new soundtrack based on the original theme. I do agree however, the Soarin soundtrack is very very good and inspiring as well.

Edit: I continued to read only to find out that Mr. Goldsmith has passed (soared?) on. Seoooo... get that Hans Zimmer POTC movie guy to do it... he is good at reworking old themes and adding new ones as he did in Worlds End.

I may be a voice of dissent here but I feel like EPCOT has enough global footage what with the several movies in World Showcase.
I'd love to see a Soarin' over Florida. Instead of the jets racing by, a shuttle could launch. Florida has so much to show... coral reefs, Kennedy Space Center, the Everglades, Miami, the Daytona 500, and of course... ending at EPCOT.
I would looooove to see that.

That would be cool...however, you could have a shuttle launch (which will be outdated by 2011 anyway...) and STILL have the jets. NAS Pensacola is the home of the Naval Flight Demonstration Team (Blue Angels), and Jacksonville is where they were originally formed (at a detached airfield from NAS Jacksonville - they practiced at the Branan air field - and interestingly, I live off of the old Branan air field road!). Footage of the Blue Angles at Jacksonville Beach (usually a late October or early November show), flying around the beachfront hotels, would be really cool!

BTW - I agree with the rest of your post - Daytona would be a cool addition!

Do they really have to wait for popularity to wane to make a new experience? I think it would be great to have a number of films on offer. Disney is all about making customizable experiences these days, so why not make Soarin' a realistic flight terminal that lets you choose your own destination?

Oy, but please, not a Florida-only film, there's so much more to the world.

As much as this is nothing more than a rumor at this point, I would rather see them keep the current film for a little bit longer than 2009. The ride is still very new, and I would like to see them keep the current film as it is very good and still pretty new. But I could see them replacing the film around 2011-2012.

I love to see the new soarin' movie in 2009!
Err... it`s just a rumour. An old one at that. It began when Soarin' was rumoured for Paris (scrapping the Screamscape comment above)

Now WDSP looks to be going with a Rattatouie LPS Dark Ride and a few other items Soarin' has been put on the back burner over there. Paris was to get it first, paying for development, and the American parks were to have gotten copies of the movie.

All a bit of a mess...

That's not a bad idea.. then they could keep the current film, and a new one.

You know, I've always thought that Star Tours would work magnificently with this concept...use half the simulators for a new flight, half for the traditional flight to Endor.

You know it's funny you mention that, I actually always thought he would be the perfect guy to score the eventual new Universe of Energy.
