News Reimagined Toontown coming

Summer was slow in the past because of massive AP blockouts. Last summer, no one had an AP and had to buy a day ticket, which undoubtedly kept things somewhat more controlled.

This summer, with Magic Keys now a thing, is on some level uncharted territory. While I haven't kept up with the Magic Keys chatter, it's still a new and different situation if only because the pass situation is different. And the return of several long-missing, iconic pieces of entertainment will likely contribute to larger crowds.

I should be back in July for the first time since 2018, and even though I've primarily visited in July in the past, I have no illusion that past experiences will necessarily mean anything this time around.

RE: Toontown, I don't think Toontown being closed will affect ride lines all that much but it may choke the walkways a bit more than normal.

I just checked the blackout calendar and Enchant and Imagine Keys are blocked out all summer. So it seems like this summer may be slower too unless they come out with some So Cal Pass campaign like they do in late winter/ early Spring every year. I think the Disney itch has been scratched for the majority of non Keys. I don’t think the entertainment coming back in April will have that big of an impact on non keys/ tourists. So the parks should Be nice and pleasant for you. Hope you have a good trip!

Yeah I think Pirates being down for however long it’s going down has a bigger impact on the park then Toontown going down.

Much as I'd love to be wrong, I don't think the auction scene is changing.

Seems like a long refurb for POTC but I could be wrong. Then again it’s been what 4 years or so since it went down for the Auction scene change and God knows they didn’t do any refurb when they were closed. Could they have possibly found more stuff that’s not PC enough. No more alcohol!

Personally, I’d like to see them use the time to remove the Jack Sparrow AA’s… but maybe that’s just wishful thinking.

If we’re grasping at straws… it could be argued in some circles the dialogue in the dunking “Carlos, Don’t Be Chicken!” mayor scene has reportedly been said to be offensive by PETA, per the article below.

Also the accent is likely considered derogatory by some.

I really hope not. Are accents not allowed at Disneyland anymore? So everybody is a 3rd generation American with perfect English. What a boring world we live in now

Well the ridiculous, over-the-top accents of the four birds in the Tiki Room who need to take a meeting with H.R. with regard to how they talk about the female birds could stand to be updated from the time when accents were employed because accents are funny... as in laugh at them because they can't speak right.

The day Disney gives into PETA is the day all food service in the parks become vegetarian. So, that's not happening.

The accents on PotC are in keeping with the time and place of the ride. While not all pirates spoke in the Southeastern accent of Britain (popularized by Disney movies featuring Blackbeard), some certainly did since that's where they're from. The Caribbean had immigrants from all over, so, there'd be a lot of different accents. It would be hard pressed to find an accent from that time period that anachronistically didn't belong.

For the record I’m with you.

Just saying when there’s an HR committee whose sole role is to find/spot “problematic material” there’s plenty of hairs to split in the interest of job preservation.

Funny video even though I disagree what they re going for. I’ll also forgive them for the tea cup bit even though it’s an opening day ride.

How are the accents over the top of their are actually people that talk like that?

One example: almost all Spanish-speaking people I've met who have English as a second language don't go around saying "si" all the time for "yes." If they're speaking English, saying "yes" or "OK" is one of the first things you learn and one of the easiest things to do.

If you became proficient in a second language and were speaking it, would you keep saying "yes" instead of that language's word for "yes"?

Check out Handy Mandy for a real Spanish accent that isn't as Speedy Gonzalez.

But why do things have to be so accurate? It’s entertainment. They re talking/ singing birds.
