Photoshop Pages

After avoiding it for some time, I finally came up with a somewhat original idea for our marathon scrapbook that I was excited about. I decided to connect the pages together with a road and then have Mickey "run" through the book! I also wanted the book to be LONG... you know, to give the impression of how freakin long the marathon was. :ROFLOL: So almost every picture has it's own page; quite a different approach for me.

I've been working on it since last August or so. And FINALLY it's ready to print... one year after the event! Therefore... I have like 60 pages to share with you all. Yay!!!

So here we go. I know they're kind of small, but you have to kind of see them side by side to get the effect and this was the largest I could go and still achieve that. Oh yeah and if anyone sees any typos, please tell me because I'm getting ready to print.

Awesome, Holly! :sohappy: I love your idea of the road with Mickey running through! Your book turned out awesome! I'm sure you'll love it! And I don't think a year is so bad... I just started printing out my books from our trip in October of 2008 (and I'm still not done with some of the days.)

I agree, that is such a great idea to have him running through the book!! You are going to love it!! It all looks adorable! You should put your trip report in it somehow, though. I thought your descriptions of everything you went through were fascinating!!

I love it Holly, great work. A year is nothing I just completed my 2005 trip  I was interested to see that you had used the same papers and colour scheme throughout. I started doing this in my current album yesterday, thinking I would use the same kit for each park. Then I started to doubt myself thinking the book would look too samey and not be as exciting. However after seeing yours and loving the efect I will look at it with a fresh persepctive tonight :)

Thanks, ladies! I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Hobbes, it's interesting you mention the use of duplicate papers throughout the book because that was something I really struggled with as well. Finally I decided to make all 26 mile markers the same to help "move the story" from page to page. Although, I'm still wondering if that might make it a bit boring in sections where alot of pages in a row are the same (i.e. miles 5-10). I am, however, super happy with the fact that I kept all the character pages original because they're the real focus. :sohappy: And this way they stand out.

Tammy, I really went back and forth on the journaling for this book because I agree the commentary really fills in the gaps. Eventually, I went without it because I print out ALL of my trip reports in what has become somewhat of a travel journal. I figure with all the time and energy that goes into writing them up, I should find a way to keep them accessible. Basically I just minimize and organize the pictures throughout the text and then place each page in a transparent sleeve and put them in a 3 ring binder.

For anyone who is curious, here are some pictures (it currently has all our trip reports up through July 2009):

That's super neat, Holly! I really like that idea!

Oh my word! That is awesome!! I need to do that!! What a great idea!!

Thanks, ladies! It doesn't take all too long and it's a great way to actually keep all the hard work that goes into writing those reports up. Plus, I think it'll be cool for our kids to read through one day. You know, if they're bored and have hours upon hours of time to kill. :ROFLOL:
